The starch has more calories than the oil
Just use no cholesterol oil or switch to extra virgin olive oil

I use canola oil no cholesterol

Like you I don't fry any meat

I hear what you say about Olive oil, I just can't stand it. I hear coconut oil is good. Dunno about the calories, etc but I might try that out someday...
