Honestly I am still startled every time one of my sweetest, most ladylike employees shouts "Jesus Christ!" in the office (which happens almost daily). smiley I am sure I do plenty of unintentional things that are even more startling. smiley
is she Yoruba??

Good day madam, please have a very critical case in which I have not been pleased with myself since the issue came on.
In 2012,I had a friend that introduce me to U S traveling agent since I told him i love to travel to america because I so much have america in my dream for so long.I meet the agent in which he told me its a very simple thing and he charge me for 1million naira but he said I can pay 65% of the money,I made the payment within 3weeks after this discussion then the processing started, after 2months he called me and told me I have to change my passport to someones name in which I asked for the reason why I have to change my passport to someones name,he told me that later I will change the passport to my name that he is trying to help me and process American D V lottery that I am even very lucky, due to my ingnorance I felt so happy and i went straight to abuja to do that which cost me 250k.I gave him the passport after 3weeks then he said I should start reading some curses I have never read before in my life. After somewhile I when for medicals and police verification in Alagbon lagos then someweeks later I went for interview in American embassy ikoyi lagos unfortunately for me I was denied.I quickly meet the agent but he told me there is nothing he can do about it and he now advise me to go back and change my passport again to my name after I did that I tried to reach him but every effort proof aborted because the agent is no where to be found.
Please,I am now trying to be educated on this, can I still be given a chance to have American visa anytime I wish to?
Does that mean I can't have access to America on this earth?
Please help me on this question. Thanks as I await a possitive response.
VisaOfficer:
Just a gentle note that to Americans, when people say "Jesus!" it sounds like they are swearing / cussing / taking the name in vain. I know it is a prayerful sort of exclamation here, but those of you who travel to the United States may wish to consider breaking the habit to avoid misunderstandings....

If your brother is unmarried, the waiting time is approximately seven years. If he is or gets married, the waiting time will be approximately eleven years.

It's going to be very difficult for you to convince a visa officer that you are a credible applicant from here on out. If you apply for a non-immigrant (tourist) visa, it will be difficult for you to convince us that you plan to return to Nigeria. Indeed, I don't think you should apply for a non-immigrant visa, because it's pretty clear from your other posts on Nairaland that you're an intending immigrant, to any English-speaking country, by any means possible. (Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, buying a false identity from a Diversity Visa agent.....)

If you have a legitimate reason to apply for an immigrant visa, we'll wonder if you really are who you say you are, as you've used a false identity in the past; but as long as you have a bona fide relationship with the petitioner, eventually you'll get the visa if you are completely honest with us. Technically you're ineligible to enter the United States, but there are waivers available. The only way to qualify for a waiver, though, is to be honest and to disclose what happened in the past. We have your fingerprints and photo on file, so we'll know whether you tell us or not.

You do not have to show proof of payment at POE because paying before you leave is not a requirement. You have up to a year to pay the green card fee. Just most just like to pay before they leave or shortly after they arrive to get the physical green card.

The 551 stamp you get in your passport at POE stands as a temp green card until the card arrives.
Thanks! I appreciate your input. I get way less knowledgeable when people ask me about things that happen after the visa is issued. smiley

Hmmmm, thamk you soo much ma for the reply.I know it will be difficult but the if I will have to apply for tourist visa I believe I have strong reasons to convince them because I had already been to South Africa I only used 5days and I came back to nigeria.I work in Nigerian Breweries Plc I believe my job Is here for me and i only use some days out of my annual leave I am only entitle to its 24 working Days as a staff so I can't leave my job.I just like traveling and I love to be in U. S A one Day if not what has happened.I am even scared to go the embassy because some people use to tell me that I can be arrested.I pray God help me in this case.

Good morning VO. I booked an appointment with the receipt no I paid. After booking , I discovered the time I had booked wasn't convenient and tried rescheduling. A prompt came up which i interpreted to mean that this was the last chance I had to reschedule.I clicked and was told my receipt was invalid.

I emailed and got same response. Please note that I didn't attend the interview, I have not used the receipt for any interview. I actually paid for 2. My husband and myself. Please can anything be done?

Public Service Announcement
for Non-immigrant Visa Applicants in Lagos

This is an announcement that will be posted to https://www.nairaland.com/1792662/u.s-non-immigrant-visas-listening . I thought I'd post it here for you as well. smiley

Please help us get the word out that non-immigrant visa (NIV) applicants do not need to queue for their appointments more than 30 minutes ahead of time. We realize that especially in Lagos, people often come very early for their appointments to avoid being stuck in traffic; but there’s no need to join the queue hours early. Queuing so early creates large crowds who must stand in the heat (and sometimes the rain), putting themselves at risk from passing vehicles, and also blocking the road to drivers. These crowds are dangerous and unpleasant for applicants!

Also, queuing so early does not get you in and out of your interview more quickly, as we see applicants in order, according to their interview times. If you join the queue 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment, you will be inside our waiting room in plenty of time for your interview.

Please be considerate and do your part to keep our queue from turning into a crowd.

No, a photocopy is sufficient in this case. If we need more evidence we'll let him know.
Dear VO,

My brother is with you today. I pray all goes well.

please I have another question.

My parent a USC already petitioned for myself and my sister but our cases are still pending because we had to move from F1 to F3.
I have another sister in the US and her graduation is in May, I would love to be at the occasion with my baby and his cousin (My Nigeria sister's child). We intend to apply for visiting VISAs so that we can be at the graduation.

Is there any law restricting us from visiting the US because we have pending immigrant visa application cases?

Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by VisaOfficer(op): 7:53am On Mar 12, 2015
tessydunbi:
Hi VO.
I posted this in we're listening but they said they don't reply to individual cases.

I applied for j-1 visa in September 3rd, 2014 but my ds-2019 had not gotten to me so I decided to appear for the interview which they gave me opportunity to come back on a Monday or Wednesday within a year when I get my ds-2019. I went back to the embassy on the 18th February with complete documents and I was granted visa. I was told to pick up my passport at VI DHl center the following Monday (23rd february) but to my surprise, no mail, sms or call to notify me. I'd been at the pick up center several times without result. Meanwhile, I was mailing and calling customer care but no positive response whatsoever but to wait till I'm notified. So I summoned courage to go and complain at Walter carington V-I (interview center in Lagos) where they told me to go and fill another ds-160 and come and submit on Monday (9th March) which I did. All they said was to ask where my passport is (already with them) and re-submitted ds-2019 with the new ds-160. So he said I should go that they will give me a call. I asked what really happened but he said I don't need to be told all the stories.
This is the third without any information from them. I've called customer care today but she said I will be notified. I was not comfortable with the answer cos that was what they'd been telling me so I went to Walter carington today and they didn't even allow me but told me to wait for the call.
when they told me 3weeks ago i'd been granted visa, I'd booked for 27th February which I had to place on hold.
Now I've spent 2 weeks from the date I'm supposed to resume and once it's 30 days, after the resumption date, it will be invalid and I just have to wait for their call.
Can you pls tell me what to do?
Thank you
I'm sorry, I can only answer questions about immigrant visas, not non-immigrant visas.
