He was defeated by Jimmy Carter in 1976 presidential election. 1n 1980 presidential election, Ronald Reagan defeated incumbent Jimmy Carter to become the 40th US president and served two terms from 1981 to 1989. Reagan was sworn into office 42 days before his 70th birthday. Cristiano "Ronaldo" was name after this noble man by his father who is a keen fan of Ronald Reagan. He died on 5th June, 2004 at age 93.[/b]

Lee graduated in Cambridge University with double starred-first-class honour in law. In 1950, he became a barrister of middle temple and practised Law until 1959. He led Singapore to independence in 1965 with overwhelming parliamentary control. Lee oversaw the nation from an under developed colonial outpost with no natural resources into an Asian Tiger economy. Lee served as Prime Minister from 1959 to 1990. He holds a successful ministerial position which made him one of the longest serving minister in history. Harry Lee Kuan Yew died on March 23, 2015 (equivalent to Yesterday at the time of writing).[/b]

There was no land reform during his tenure and very light economic reforms that failed to touch the overwhelming majority, those that have benefited were at some point allied with the ANC.

Reagan and his Reaganomics and the lightly regulated banking system led to the credit crunch that led to a Savings and Loans company crisis and has been seen most recently with the severe credit recession that the western World is only just emerging from. Reagan also tripled the American national debt to the point that when he left it stood at 2.8 trillion - America will never be able to repay its debts as a result.

I know all about the US domestic situation prior to Reagan, I also know that it was largely caused by American manufacturing decline, poor economic and foreign policy decisions. Reagan continued many of these dreadful foreign policy choices, primary of which was the escalation of the Cold War which was good for the military industrial complex (and the economy) and a began a futile war on drugs which was good for the military and law enforcement but terrible for American society.

Reaganomics is also the reason why the World Bank was pushing SAPs, the same programs that ruined the economies of many a developing nation including Nigeria.

To paraphrase Bill Clinton the problem is not the age of Buhari, but the age of Buhari's ideas.
