The statement itself isn't proper Igbo Izugbe but typical of an Anambra dialect that doesn't tend to have suffixes. For eg, o nwe onye m fu taa nwe moto ofuu (o nwere onye m huru nwere moto ofuru) - you can definitely tell that's onitsha Igbo. That's exactly what I used in writing my homophone.

You are not going to translate 'Mmiri no n'ite' as 'Water is in pot' because there is no 'a' after 'ite'.

You translated it as 'Water is in the pot'.

Word-for-word translation is bad translation. You translate according to context. An A1 in Igbo should know this.

And yes, 'Akwuna kwu n'akwu' makes 100% sense as 'The prostitute is standing on the palmfruit.'


Oh, by the way 'akwuna a' is not 'the prostitute'. It is 'This prostitute.'

Apparently, we didn't translate Phrases, I would have sucked at it, because you can translate a phrase as you deem fit!

I could use that your example in another sentence, and I would make an entirely different translation!

See this guy. Please you did not correct me. I made A1 equally in WAEC of 2006 and B2 in Igbo GCE in 2005. All in Igbo Izugbe. I bet you can't even write Igbo better than me. However I am from Anambra and choose to speak and write in my dialect always. When has that become a crime?

A homophone are different words with the same sound, so stalk (secretly follow somebody) and stalk (the stem of a plant) are homophones in English. In many languages including Igbo you can make a sentence using homophones.

In order to participate you have to make a grammatically correct (maybe with some exceptions) sentence in Igbo using one sound and then translate it for the sake of others.. They can be no smaller than four words.
