Odunharry:De Gea na boss. Comparing his performances with other GKs this season, and also considering he's single-handedly won us like 15 points this season, no other keeper deserves EPL GK of the year except him. But knowing the FA, they'll probably gve the award to the GK who wins a PL medal |

Odunharry: You definitely dont know what it means to have power. Power is not about muscle or physically built. Power has more to do with energy. Report has it that Robben, Valcencia and Ronaldo have all recorded the speed of Olympic sprinters off the ball. Any one able to do that must be someone with power. |

Dadehmola:Na you no know ball. You guys think power is about bulkiness, or heavy muscles or looking physically built. When Oshoala was being spoken of match after match as having destroying teams in the U-20 wotld cup, the commentators often referred to her speed and power just as I had already revealed about her game. One would think Oshoala is one of the most heavily or physically built female footballers. But she actually the opposite. She is even small when compared to such players in teams like France, Sweden and many oppositions. A player like Njoku who looks like Mike Tyson however doesnt have power. Oshoala went on to win the FIFA player of the tournament, she went to Nations cup and won the best player. Then finally she won the African women footballer of the year. Her pace, power and skills standing her out, not a any gorilla built. |

lekkie073:Any one who can hit an Olympic speed over 40 yards is powerful. Robben biggest attribute is power- energy. Before Robben became one of the officially recognized one of the 5 best in the world. I was on this thread speaking about his pace and power and people didnt really contest that, instead they said he was useless. Now he is ruling football, people want to say he's just technical. Robben = power. |

chrisley024:For sure. Although Valencia is also powerful. |

Kemizee:there's nothin he will add to this Man United team RB that's not already here, except English blood. we should spend on a world class attacker & defensive midfielder. other buys will just be to increase healthy competition within the squad. |

parrotibaba:Power is his number 1 attribute. MAN OF THE MATCH Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich): In this kind of form, there's no stopping him. His brilliant first goal doubled Bayern's lead and effectively put the game beyond Augsburg, who just couldn't handle his pace and power. http://www.eurosport.com/football/bundesliga/2014-2015/augsburg-v-bayern-munich-live_sto4512296/story.shtml Going into Brazil 2014 The national team relies on Robben for his blistering pace and power down the wing. He is exceptional at taking on defenders, beating them down the line, and putting in a great cross. Also, Robben is notorious for his hammer of a left foot. In Brazil 2014, you are almost guaranteed to see Robben streak down the right side of the pitch, cut to the inside to leave his defender in the dust, and unleash a devastating laser shot to the bottom of the near post or a beautiful curling effort to the back. Robben is an adept passer of the ball on the ground, too. He can break defenses apart with a quick one-two with a teammate, as well as put a perfectly weighted through ball onto the foot of an advancing forward. He has also recently transformed his game to become a more complete and team-oriented player. It is not uncommon to see Robben tracking back from the opponents half of the field to mark a man and put some defensive pressure on the ball, a sight that would have been jaw-dropping a few years ago. ..... http://sites.duke.edu/wcwp/world-cup-guides/world-cup-2014/players-to-watch-at-the-2014-world-cup/uefa/netherlands-arjen-robben/ |

If power were to be about physique or built, someone like Pacquiao would never have been a boxer. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 9:06pm On Apr 16, 2015 |
Look at the fragile looking girl they were calling 'pace and power' throughout the tournament. It's not about muscle or looking like Akinfenwa. It's about pure energy. See French babes for comparison of physique.

The fragile girl actually has power. Remember when she carried her coach shoulder high and walked along with ease. It's possible some people packing muscle cannot do this. ![]()

So is it same thing with physical strength? |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by homesteady(m): 9:37pm On Apr 16, 2015 |
physical force or strength. ----- definition of power! So where is Elampiro getting his definition from? ![]() Having speed is different from having power, this is not physics biko! |

elamps baba na wa o. If Robben clashes with Distin you think he'll remain sstanding after the clash. Robben only has tenacity and pace, not power. You've been muttering power all these while and one'll think you know a lot about it |

chrisley024:Physical strength is part of this power. However, football involves mobility, power here should be seen and obvious in the manner one uses the ball on the field. The runs and chases, the movements, switch off and switch on time. It's more about energy, you could add stamina. Ability to use same amount of energy to carry out a task over a sustained period. Rooney can hit a very high speed, even higher than Oxlaide within 20 yards. But Oxlaide, even if he were to run at a bit lower speed than Rooney, he would get to a ball 50 yards away due to his energy which would allow a sustained consistent speed over a sprint distance. Then he is likely to do that thought out 90 minutes while Rooney would have fluctuations in his speed and use of energy. You look at athleticism. Rooney used to be very powerful when he first started. Di Maria has pace but no much power. This is why he is defensive liable. Di Maria's pace could be more than Oxlaide's, but he wouldn't catch Oxlaide if he were to chase 40 yards back to our area. His speed will fluctuate along the way. The speed of an Olympic sprinter doesn't fluctuate over 100 meter. Pace and lots of power (energy) is involved. Robben can carry the ball across the breath of a football field switching play from left to right side with three men chasing heavily and not catching up, then he applies his technique and reverses with the chasers continuing and he is still applying same energy to advanced ahead of them. If it were Di Maria, he would be closed down and dispossessed before he does a third of that due to his fluctuating speed. Yaya Toure for instance, doesn't have a sustained level of high speed over a many yards. He also has a switch off in games, which means there would be time he would be resting or playing lightly while he should be involved heavily. This is how I can explain it to you. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 10:20pm On Apr 16, 2015 |
homesteady:Oxford dictionary talks about energy. When you say force, I could agree too. I know Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Robben and Ribery all have force. Suarez has pace but he is not so powerful or forceful. In confederation cup, they spoke about Neymar's pace and power. |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 10:25pm On Apr 16, 2015 |
Leyqute:It's not about built or being a world strongest man like Mark Henry. Smalling hit Balotelli and he fell. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 10:26pm On Apr 16, 2015 |
lekkie073:What I have typed is about sustained speed and energy. Power. A man with low energy, but a bit higher speed (D Maria) would not finish 100 meter race ahead of another with a bit lower speed but high energy (Oxlaide) |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by homesteady(m): 10:31pm On Apr 16, 2015 |
elampiro:Suarez does not play with power? like seriously? That's one of his best attribute sef! |

Leyqute:Distin has no power as Robben. Robben will finish 100m while Distin will be in the 70m mark. Pacquiao the boxing champion, do you know how many thick guys he has beaten? He is as small as Juan Mata. If The Undertaker hits Khali, Undertaker will fall. But Khali is just big and thick, no natural power. So when they go to fight, Undertaker sustained energy sees him beat Khali, Kane, Mark Henry, big show etc. He even lift them up like they were babies. |

| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by homesteady(m): 10:38pm On Apr 16, 2015 |
elampiro:This your explanation of power only exits in physics classes! In normal terms, power means your physical strength, and I'm sure everyone here is using this same definition except you! |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by elampiro(m): 10:41pm On Apr 16, 2015 |
My people, please when they say playing with pace and power in football, it's not about people like Distin, Akinfenwa, Pepe, Shittu, etc. These are just physically built. That term has been used for Neymar, Oshoala, Ramires. Mascherano has power but no pace. Puyol has power but no pace. Fletcher and Herrera have tenacity. |
