Thousands of people in Nigeria have been killed in series of events directly and indirectly connected to the murder of Gaddafi. Much of the arms and ammunition used by Boko Haram comes from Lybia. If the US and her allies did not overthrow and kill Ghaddafi, I can authoritavely say that Boko Haram would not have been effective killing terror group it becomes. No event is separate in life, every event is interconnected with others.

He made sure of that by specifically addressing his people and children and recording that no-one should be and will not be attacked by the military even the terrorists. But remember that the rival factions have been there since the days of Gaddafi, and he was the very person holding these factions together.
Now that he's no more, the factions went their separate ways and started fighting one another for the control of Libya.
Now ISIS and other terrorists have used this lapse to join the fray, making matters worse.
Like you said, let's hope these countries settle their infightings and embrace democracy.

The after-effects of the Arab Spring have shown that the Middle East and the Arab world are better suited to dictatorship.
