They're all half-chances which Chicha is not known for in terms of converting them. The movements of our CF are rarely picked by our midfielders, only Di maria tries well in that and the reason he has created more chances even with less minute played.

Our midfielders make too many back, left and right safe passes which I'll put the blame more on the system.

This LVG system doesn't favour strikers at all. Our play isn't direct enough to favour strikers. Di Maria is the only player that tries to make things happen. Although he losses the ball frequently, he's still our most creative player. He should be playing all our matches. Valencia doesn't contribute anything to the attack and his positional awareness is also very poor in defence. I keep wondering how he brings balance to the team.

All our strikers are out of form. That can't be a coincidence. In fact, it is not. It is as a result of our style of play.

I wouldn't necessarily say that our strikers are woeful because of our style of play. What Bayern and Barca play is a slight variation of our possession football but the difference being that they have Suarez,Neymar,Lewandowski and Muller who are all mobile forwards compared to the lethargic Van persie and Falcao. I say this because there is nothing inherently wrong with the possession football. After all,these same football made us scream in delight against Liverpool,Spurs and Man City a couple of weeks ago.Fergie was a direct football protagonist whereas Van gaal is not and there is nothing wrong with that.Van gaal just needs better,more technical players to execute his system and philosophy.
I agree with you on the parts I used bold fonts.Di Maria is a bit unsuited for this system because he likes to break away at sped and tear at defenders while Van gaal wants controlled,calculated play.I hope he finds a way to resolve this as this is a major issue for us this season

the long & short is that our strikers failed this season. a clear out & replacement of the frontline won't be a surprise if we are to compete in the business end of all competitions next season.

Falcao & RvP can be allowed to go, even Rooney is not a world class CF anymore.
we can sign Lacasera & return Hernandez, should be enough for next season since we need only one to start per game.
