For barcanista to be sorry is to say that Aston Villa will win the EPL this season. He is a Bigot / turn coat / shameless fellow.

I dont care about his move to PDP . He has every right to switch his political allegiance.

But he has broken a major rule on NL by exposing the identity of Nairalanders . I felt pity for him yesterday and thought he was genuinely sorry but he is not

Seun Lalasticlala what is the punishment for exposing identities of nairalanders?

I am not bothered also about his defection but about his deception. He lied about his reasons and kept deceiving the gullible. Go through his threads and see how he keeps shooting himself with his bigotry and hypocrisy.

Last year jonathan ordered state security agents to confiscate print copies of media publications he deemed hostile to his regime under the pretext of 'national security'. That way for days running, newsprint of media houses like dailytrust, leadership and the nation were seized en route to their distribution centres. It would be hypocritical of the TANoids to point an accusing finger at Buhari for a much lesser infringement on the freedom of the press.

So you're comparing GEJs action to Buhari's outright BAN? Okay let's wait till he starts closing media houses for exposing him so you can look for another fault of GEJ to compare it with.

The Press release was from Tinubu and co who were trying to save face NOT FROM BUHARI. That unrepentant tyrant has a useless God complex that would drag down the ditch he's already digging for himself.

Freedom of information and the press aare two of the most fundamental tenets of democracy, and are even guaranteed in our constitution.

I was actually watching to see how the Grandpa would accept he was responsible for the overzealous show of shame by his media tools, but as usual, he does no wrong, didn't apologise, but simply waved the issue aside by blaming his mouthpieces! He's never changed!

GMB has no option than appreciate our democracy and be inculcated in its tenets. Or maybe the APC leadership can send him on a crash course on the rule of law, democracy and governing a complex, multi ethnic nation like ours.

I'm scared. The chief agents of lies and propaganda now have Aso Rock. Lies and further lies will so emanate from that office! I see a situation where the APC will gag and intimidate people into silence and submission. I'm scared!

Even here on NL, it's gradually becoming a crime to criticise Granpa.

But be it known, this is 2015, and the Daura cattle tender shall not be able to silence the voice of criticism and lampooning that shall inundate his person and office. It's payback time.

Senseless threads like this one brings tears to my eyes.

Barcanista, i have a few questions for you

What are the negative effects on the common Nigerian as a result of this supposed ban?

So because in the western world, press freedom is key characteristic of democracy, Nigeria must follow what is defined without any change as regards to our cultural differences?

If buhari bans all forms of press freedom but he gives Nigerians cheap electricity, clean drinking water, better medical facilities, security, jobs, etc, do you think he would be re-elected?

If your answer is no to the last question, please give sensible reasons.

I suggest you watch Mrs. Ezekwesili's interview at Oxford. Don't focus on her defence of obasanjo, but listen to her reasons for why Nigeria is as messed up as it is and also listen to her solutions. If you have time, read Ben Bruce's advice to buhari too.

Although press freedom is a really good thing, we should not make a mountain out of a molehill. Please let's focus on issues and criticise reasonably so we can all have a better Nigeria.

I respect your opinion(s).

But what happens to forgiveness ?

What happens to brotherly love ?

How may times are we suppose to offend our brother per day to get forgiveness ?

Is this the plan? Are you aware that there can be no democracy without freedom? Whoever can't guarantee that has no business in leadership.

Hence, the extent of heat and pressure from different sources and individuals no matter how many will deter anyone with such heinous ambition of muscling and intimidating the press alongside citizenry. Who defines democracy? The people or some imaginary being? Must we follow the western definition? We need to think differently and focus on important issues.

Lee Kwan yew did things his way, and he is praised, Deng xiaoping, did things his own way and he transformed China. We need to think differently as Nigerians. We can't just follow what another persons culture blindly, it never works out well. Let's focus on electricity and water abeg and leave this matter for Mathias.
