Setaje:You got it all correct. Honestly, I am tempted to say Africans are selfish. You got an opportunity by grace and your neighbour isn't ripe enough to get his and you conclude he's lazy. I was affixed with all those tittles but my time came. Word of encouragement to whoever is on the verge of giving up. God is still planning your package, don't give up on him, If God can do it for me, a nobody; he will do it for you. 2 Likes |

Setaje:you're fond of coming up with this whenever a thread of umemployment is opened. You have no idea how the human body can be wired to do anything. Your problem is the "fear of what people would think" (low self esteem) u care too much abt wat ppl tink. Which is a big hindrance to success. If one is umemployed, he or she should forget their background and any previous status quo and get down to learn sumtin relevant. You said where would money come to learn sumfin? Thats nt a big deal, becos there r many lucrative hand work one can learn for next to free. Infact if u cant raise money to learn a skill, then that person is damn too lazy. And who said u cannot teach? google is a frnd to learn the basics on teaching ethics. Going 2 skul shouldn't just be to get a job, Its to face challenges nd for self devt. With the right skill, hardwork, perseverance, and GOD, u can succed in anything u lay ur hand to do... u never knw wat u're capable of doinf until u try sumtin... Many ppl have succeded and r still succeding frm sheer hardwork even frm an empty bank acct. And dnt be afraid to make mistakes. 2 Likes |

PilotOz: Yes I am utterly and awfully scared of what people would think. The thought of doing what I never imagined myself doing will kill me faster than not getting a job. It's easier for u to say but it's hard for me to do. Hmmmmn. Please u cannot understand where I am coming from so u can say whatever u want. What I want is a job. I have every reason to complain cus I am not getting it when I no I am more than qualified. I have been to interviews where I was told I am just so over qualified and they feel giving me this job will stifle my progress in life. I no what I want and a hand job is not what I want. It will be my last resort. I don't pray to get there. Thankyou. 3 Likes |

Setaje: Setaje:Dear i knw a lil a bout u.... Some time a go, u gave a detailed background abt urself... Its well... i knw hw it feels like when u have someone that's highly connected and yet, u're nt getting the job u want.. But just knw that no matter the situation, u cannot afford to remain idle. PLS, DO NOT CARE abt what ppl think... Suen Osewa never cared abt what ppl thought when he dropped out as an undergraduate to pursue nairaland, many would have insulted and bashed him for leaving a hot course like "chem engineering" to pursue nairaland. Nw see where it's got him? He once thought chem engineering was for him, but he ventureed into ict, and there was where he made his big breakthrough... My dear, re-orientate urself... If u go out and see hw ppl who never thought they could do a particular thing r making it, u'll marvel. I have my own story too.. Dont limit urself, push urself hard, learning a handwork or doing a little paying job wnt be forever, u might want to settle with ur career(wen u finally land a job) or save up and invest in ur business. I took a high risk by travelling all the way frm benin to lagos to sell my precious Playstation 3 to start a poultry biz with N16K and made nearly N80K 4 months later.(the poulty farmers should knw what i mean) I never had any idea on poultry, i simply had 2 brilliant business partners and i learnt a lot frm them... DONT limit urself to just a job. 5 Likes |

bigmummy7: My sister, I am a christian and I think we ought to stop mixing religion with economics and politics. What's God's business with unemployment? This is obviously in the realm of the physical rather than the spiritual. Our leaders have robbed us blind over the years and this is the result. We thank God that buhari is on the way to help us retrieve our monies that have been stolen. If I tell you how much I loathe Jonathan and his ibo and south south people ehn, you would be shocked. These people still think jonathan didn't do any bad thing to Nigeria, the man nearly collapsed the whole Nation with Corruption and we are yet to hear the worst of his heist of our treasury. In my area in ikotun, Lagos the graduates are the most frustrated because we have no jobs and we can't learn handwork because its too late. I for example am a lawyer who has not been able to get a firm to practice law for the past 5 months after NYSC. Can you imagine? A lawyer oooooo. Vagabonds and riff raffs are enjoying and making money while graduates who took the pain to study don't have jobs in this Our Nigeria. You need to see graduates in town going mad from thinking and frustration. I have told myself that I am not going to any church again, its pure fraud and stress to keep going to church and praying when there won't be any result. We need to retrieve our money and fix Nigeria then we can start correcting this anomaly of Graduates unemployment in our country. Buhari is like a god to so many now and we pray God keeps him for us so that our enemies don't kill him. Shalom. 3 Likes |

Hmm....I must first of all appreciate the OP. This thread with its comments, has been discouraging in some point. We all know of the country's failure towards employment, but it doesn't always have to be the country's fault for your being unemployed. I am currently serving in a remote village in ondo state, which I will be rounding off in July by God's grace. And I must say that some Nigerian graduates are the most unserious and lazy sets of graduates. Few months ago, a company recuiting, requested for cv submission, and to my utter amazement, I saw most corp member running helter-skelter begging for help to prepare their cv. For Jupiter sake, why will you relax until you are being tensed, before you know what is good for you. Preparations for the labour market begins from your nysc days. Some people relaxed until after service before preparing to seek employment. I am currently Learning data analysis, advance use of excel, And at the same time studying aptitude test questions both on GRE and SHL,and all this cost me real good money. While I got colleagues who spends their time chatting and eating all day. And you expect me to wish them success in labour market. Lol! As much as I know it's not going to be easy out there, so also do I try to reduce the chances of it being too hard. They say "Success is Pain....Ignorance is bliss".Make your choice. Some of you who have typed here know you didn't prepare real good for the job. I actually feel for the unemployed, and I pray my story will not turn the same, as your stories will turn to testimonies soon. 4 Likes |

Smeeky:Should I call this false assumption Bruh u wouldnt want to know or experience it so dont just sit ur ass in ur house and conclude about stuff u know nada about. Lemme share this story, I went for an interview for the role of a Customer Care in a popular firm. On getting there, I met a friend; the least person I expected to see. Know why? She graduated with 1st Class. She actually came for the role of marketing. Had to confront her cos I was short of words. When I heard her story, I just had to curse this country. This is a lady that is extremely hard-working plus a nerd. This was a year after our NYSC. And do u know what it means to be under-employed Please ask around for clarification. Quote me anywhere, 60-70% of graduates are under-employed. Do u think its favourable? Think of the transport cost, feeding, expenses to keep up wit then lastly family pressure Especially if u work in a city. By the way, help is needed in writing ur CV. U need a professional touch to it which u cant clearly know since u arent in the HR dept And neither is it something u study in school. Dont just sit down and talk thrash when u have no idea of what the situation is. Fine some graduates could be lazy but thats a little percentage to the total number of the unemployed. #My2Cent 8 Likes |
