My take on Miss Nairaland contest and contestants.

First, the contest is one based of beauty and intelligence. The emergence of someone who 'll stand as the face of this faceless forum for the some months. While the contest requires personal or second-party nominations and pictures, the length of time spent on Nairaland, the cleverness in comments and topics, evaluation of persons followed should also be considered.

It is imperative to note that the romance section hosts some (if not all) most active members, (a personal opinion) the emergence of the next miss nairaland will be a function of how much support is garnered from the section.

Also, when a competition like this comes up, even the deadliest devil turns into a gentle angel (as a stubborn goat is obedient in the face of food), which is why you should not be surprised when the people who ll normally bash you starts praising you just to get your support.

The contestants are still emerging, and from observation, some candidates seem to be creating a wave than the others for now. I'll try without bias to give a transparent analysis as each candidate emerge.

For starters, I'll start with Twaci.

Call her beautiful, she's probably heard that all her life. Lol. You ll find her to be someone who relates well with people (or is it the other way?). She's sensitive to issues and people surrounding her and picks bits outta it. (an evaluation of her topics, replies). Registered on the 21st of January, 2015, she quickly rose to be one of the popular romancelanders after spending close to 18 online dates...

Behind this lady, is a host of other popular romancelanders -- the likes of naijaboiy (winner, mr nairaland, 2015), orijin101, missclasssy, kinglekan, tosyne2much, etc. And their influence can not be sidelined, for it is enough to intimidate other contestants.

Controversy: The acronym her campaign managers could think of is 'they will all cry in the end' and this is lame. It speaks nothing of sportsmanship, considering this contest is not one of desperation.
Amidst her supporters are people of controversial standings, and may turn out to be detrimental to her standings. Need I say more?

Tohphaz

An equally beautiful nurse, she became a member on the 1st of July, 2014 and has spent up to 15 online days. She is adjudged to be a cool and well-mannered citizen of naira land, but I am not taken with flowery comments from her campaign managers. From her replies, I find her to be easy-going and hates getting in fights. She keeps a rather low key profile and it seems this competition is gonna make break the shell totally.

The supporters of Tohphaz are trying, but in their zeal to canvass votes, they may have stepped on a number of persons (which brings to mind the Pdp/APC scenario). Her pictures require more touches of professionalism to make it more attractive.

Its gonna be a tough fight, and despite the popularity of the aforementioned contestant, she has a sure chance of winning too. Goodluck!

A budding writer, she has risen out of lowkey to contest. Registered on 28th June, 2014, she has spent 16 online days and active in 3 sections. She is what I call humble, funny, and has a self-conscious mind. She is always cautious of doing things right, and while she may not be so popular, she believes she stands a chance.

To better her chances, she may require more campaign managers, and better pictures. The ones I'm seeing ain't 'catchy' enough.
