I don't understand what you mean by calmness when defending.. is it not the varane that alongside Ramos plays cassilas into trouble.. of course the spirit of self depreciation you have is what you mistake for neutrality and objectivity.is it not the neutral / well versed and at the same time 'fans of other clubs' who named Hummels who at my last count has conceded 3 1st minute goals a leader at the back??

If calmness is the issue here, then i've got loads of world class cb's who don't know nothing about being calm, vidic puyol ramos mattarazi etc.. one thing you've got to understand is a CB is not just individualy great, the centre back position is all about finding the right pairing, ferdinand is the guy that reads the game and he plays with calmness but thats not vidic, vidic is the hot head, de destroyer, same goes to mescharano nd pique, so u can classify jones in the hot head section of CB's, If jones finds a good pair and stays injury free, u won't even remember weda a player lyk varane do exist.

in my own opinion, varane is not better than Jones, though he may seem more calm and composed than the Englishman...... Tackles per game, clearances per game, interceptions per game........these are what counts....

I always had that nagging feeling he wud return to Spain someday after Casillas's burial(the most ridiculously poor goalkeeper still to maintain his position in a top club after being close to a liability for many seasons now).I just didn't think it wud come so soon esp considering we just got champs league football and will even add more quality to the team this summer.The way he has acted is not cool at all
