I think we should learn how to treat every situation within their peculiar context - I understand that when giving a gift, it's the heart that matters, but you can hardly say someone who earns 100k a month and gives a 1k perfume, has a good heart. As far as I'm concerned that's a form of urban witchcraft. (I'm not saying this is exactly the case here, I'm just giving an example)

I understand that she may have other plans for her money, after all it would be asking too much, if one expected such a person to buy her boyfriend a Galaxy Edge or maybe a Play station 4 - These items of course are above and beyond her capability considering her salary... There's even a caveat to that assertion but that's talk for another day.

The point is.... If you can truly afford getting your boyfriend a smart phone or some pricey gadget you know he would totally trip for- then get it. Don't come under the guise of "It's the heart that matters"... Your money is where your heart is.... So if your heart is truly with your boyfriend - You will get him something really worthy.
