Brace for Iheanacho against United's U21.....now 3-1....some Angel dude scored the second goal.

6 goals in 7 appearances, Pellegrini must be drinking from the same stream as Keshi to not give this boy a first team berth at the EPL

We await Brazil cool
So im guessing now u agree that he will walk in to the first team?

The question is no longer are the Flying Eagles good but how good are they? Where do they rank compared to other flying eagles' teams of d past. Have they flattered to deceive or are they the real deal? I don't read too much into friendly results. The reason being friendlies are what they are - friendlies. Hostilities begin June 1. For me that's d litmus test. Beat Brazil, d jinx is broken and d cup is there for taken. See previous results against South American opposition to see why I'm particular about this match.
Mexico 83 Brazil 3-0 Nigeria (Group)
USSR 85 Brazil 2-0 Nigeria (Semis)
Chile 87 Brazil 4-0 Nigeria (Group)
Nigeria 99. Paraguay 2-1 Nigeria (Group)
Holland 2005 Brazil 0-0 Nigeria (Group)
Holland 2005 Argentina 2-1 Nigeria (Finals)
Canada 2007 Chile 4-0 Nigeria (Quarters)
Egypt 2009 Venezuela 1-0 Nigeria (Group)
Turkey 2013 Uruguay 2-1 Nigeria (2nd Rnd)

We've never beaten them in a competitive match at U-20 or at d Senior level. We've lost all 5 matches against them in d world cup. Why do u think we struggle against South American opposition?

walk into what? Bro, he'll still come on from the bench if he has to play the first game. Manu will not slot him in simply because he's had good games with City

football is always the unifying factor for we Nigerians. whats ur take on awoniyi? that guy is becoming a deadly phenomenal goal poaching beast that theworld will see in the nearest future, i just love the lad, power playing, pacy, bulldozes defenders and a deadly finisher. naija is blessed
the last time i watched him play in a competitive match was against Senegal@d AYC FINAL. He was played as lone striker. As I watched him play that night. I had that strong feeling that if he can keep his head cool it won't take much time before he reach stardom. He is good in holding d ball, a good positional player. His height is a plus. But I've not see him using his head.

not looking likely. He'll probBly warm the bench the first half of the season, in the events he's considered to make the 23-man list. There are still others like Brandon Barker as well as Glendon (City U21 captain) who might be considered ahead of Iheanacho based on their English citizenship.

You know EPL is yryna foster that homegrown ish and Kelechi being African (the bottom of the barrel in football's elite) may not help his case much.....even Pogba is still in the wilderness of loans as good as he is

d other sets of eagles might have lost those matches due to inferiority complex-believing that the South Americans are born ballers, this determined d way de approach those games... But one thing I know is that this crop of players will re-write history. They know d magnitude of d task ahead of them. These boys ain't just physically ready but de're also mentally ready for whoever comes there way. *sorry for the typos-using phone*

if milner leaves in dis transfer window coupled wit d imminext exit of lampard i think it would create space 4 him and the captain[glendon] is injured and i think it will rule him out for some part of next season

i just hope this news isn't true. Success is a wonderful guy. His goal against sweden just keep coming to my mind-it will take a world class striker to do such. But y will this european clubs take us for granted. Granada started this mess. De just hold him back for no reason. He is not even playing. How will a FIFA organised tournament won't be on FIFA calender-pls I need someone to enlighten me on this. Because this was granada's reason for not releasing him at first. Wishing him all d best.
FIFA, probably in a bid to pacify the football clubs, doesn't put relatively 'minor' tourneys in its calendar. They want the clubs to maximally utilize the services of players who they (clubs) pay every week.

Not long ago, the Olympic football tourneys weren't listed on FIFA's calendar until 2012! I remember Arsenal refusing to release Kanu for the 2000 Olympic Games, and an Israeli club refusing to release Enyeama to the Dream Team in 2008. Both clubs cited the fact that the tournament wasn't listed on FIFA calendar as the reason for holding onto the players.

Just as the Olympics was considered as a 'minor' tourney, the suits at Fifa may be of the view that the U-17 and U-20 world cups are purely developmental competitions, which aren't at the level of the senior World Cup and World Cup qualifiers.

but how would they perform well to reach their best when they are battling with getting the players together and train well.

Last week report was that most of their players were still stranded in Mali(visa/travelling issue) while the rest are in Toulouse France. The lucky ones in France don't even have training kits to train. Their FA too complaining of low funds to back the team.

Senegal too just realised the need of training camp less a week to the tournament. Planning to starts their europe training yesterday 22nd when the tourney starts on 30th. Abeg wich kind training be dat? How many days will they use for the camping before jetting out to New zealand. Other nations are already there/on their way to New zealand.

Our own yeye FA too forgot a player's visa.... Haba! (Oro runrun). How did it happen sef? How come they just found out now? Sound nollywood to me!

Africa teams are known to have poor planning and faulty logistics. Both teams are sure to suffer jet lag in the early stages, their preparation has been the weakest so far. Like I said, I can only wish them luck.

Just hearing that of our FA from you,..... Poor!!

Taiwo Awoniyi is quite good in the air. During the last Fifa U-17 world cup when our main striker was injured, Manu brought him in and the first goal he scored was a fantastic nodder which he placed well and that was the 3-3 equalising goal against Sweden.

boss, there is always a first time for everything., this nigerian u-20 team will beat brazil. They still have their coach and about 70% of the u-17 squad. If they blend well at the tournament then they wont lose a single game and they will come home with the trophy

Manu Garba will have at his disposal two goal scoring machines in Taiwo Awoniyi and Kelechi Iheanacho as his team prepares for the FIFA U20 World Cup.

But who should be the point man? Several performances we’ve seen, good goal scoring skills, adept technique and instincts. These qualities set the two apart from the bunch, but while one was a make shift striker the other was born to be one.

The Kelechi of old played the role of a number 10 and his ability to carve open any defense, create goal-scoring chances and score some spectacular goals for himself underlines the reason why after a few setbacks has cemented himself as one youngster to watch out for at any stage of the game.

Every time he was called upon by his EDS side coach, Patrick Vieira he had delivered so much so he’s touted to make his 1st team bow against Southampton – the last game of the EPL season.

On the other hand, Taiwo Awoniyi was the timid teenager who was never a first choice but got one chance and exploded unto the scene.

Ever since , he’s yet to look back, raking in those goals stats with each game he features in. He proved his mettle in the U17 and is yet doing so with the Flying Eagles.

His perfomance at every game was worth the hype and certainly he caught the eyes of the Nigeria Olympic u23 Coach, Samson Siasia. And yet he delivered, delivered the All Africa Games ticket when that team was stuck between a rock and a hard place with Zambia.

No doubt both players can be named in the same starting 11 and can help secure results for the Flying Eagles as the World Cup date draws near.

But Many Garba surely thinks highly of these two. One played virtually every game for the U17 team- during the 2013 World Cup- that were graduated to the Flying Eagles, while, the other sought to carve a niche for himself as a professional and was away most of the time.

Both made the final 21-man list nonetheless, now its all up to the Coach to decide how to deploy his arsenal, aiming to shoot down every opposition onward to an elusive FIFA U20 World Cup title.

Two second half goals was how Kelechi Iheanacho choose to announce his presence in the Manchester derby although in the junior ranks.
The forward who’s expected to be named by Manuel Pellegrini in the match day squad for City’s first team against Southampton on Sunday has become something of a local favorite.

His goals helped City’s EDS to a win in a duel that bore no main significance save for local pride – Manchester United had been crowned U21 Premier League champions.
