FIFA U20 World Cup| Sokari oldest in Flying Eagles squad

Sokari who has been very impressive in the local scene has also been invited to the Super Eagles camp by Coach Stephen Keshi while Coach Samson Siasia is also eyeing the midfielder to be part of his team to the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo and the Olympic Games qualifiers.

EXCL: Flying Eagles ace Bulbwa: I don't belong to Esperance

World Cup-bound Flying Eagles forward Bernard Bulbwa has dropped a bombshell after claiming he does belong to Tunisian club Esperance despite agreeing personal and other terms with them in April as they have failed to meet their obligations.

Bulbwa told AfricanFootball.com he and his representatives are yet to get a copy of what he was supposed to have agreed with Esperance and this was despite several promises by the top Tunisian club they will get across the contract to them.

Esperance also promised to pay him part of the signing-on fee upon his signing the contract, but he has yet to receive any cash from them.

“I am not yet an Esperance player,” declared the 18-year-old forward to AfricanFootball.com

“I remember signing some documents at Esperance, but I don’t even have a copy of what I have signed with this club, same thing with my manager.

“They have been promising to send us copies of this agreement for more than a month now and they are yet to do so.

“Even the money they promised to give me for signing, they have not given me the money.

“As a result of this, I am still a free player and my manager is ready to listen to any club who wish to sign me.”

However, Bulbwa, whose stunning goal won Nigeria a record seventh African Youth Championship in Dakar, Senegal, maintained that the controversies surrounding his reported transfer to Esperance will not make him lose focus at the U20 World Cup, which starts next week in New Zealand.

“I am fully concentrated on the World Cup because I know what is at stake for both my country and myself,” he told AfricanFootball.com

“My manager will handle anything to do with my transfer.”

AfricanFootball.com has further gathered that Bulbwa’s UK-based manager Frankie Stephen did not represent his client in Tunis last month, which runs foul of FIFA rules.

And he only met with Esperance officials led by vice-president Ziad Tlemcani for the first time after several failed appointments earlier this week.

Tlemcani made several promises to the agent, which included sending him a copy of the contract, but which he again failed to honour.

Stephen has already told AfricanFootball.com that his player does not have a contract with Esperance.

Bulbwa reportedly agreed a five-year contract with Esperance worth $1.2 million.
This guy should be wary of the ground he is treading... At the other side of stardom is oblivion... At this stage of his career right decisions are sacrosant. My personal submission is simple- europe should always get the nod ahead north africa- they got the best development programmes... He can eventually choose to retire at esperance anyway grin

The travel plan of the flying eagles is a complete disaster. It takes people days to completely be normal after a long flight like that and the time difference. Why are we traveling to the region so close to the tournament. If they do not play well in the first game. it could be as a result of Jetlag. Personally, it takes me 1 whole week to recover. I hope the players in the flying eagles have shorter recovery times.

Japan, and S.Korea are jst 1hr behind New Zealand and Nigerian U17 teams of the past went their and won titles. The boys should b used to travelling by now and jet lag shouldnt be an issue. The longest i have travelled is 11hrs to another time zone and it took me 2-3days to get over the jetlag. So no cause for alarm as their is no disaster in the travel plan as you call it.

Your cause for concern are legitimate... Hope we arent ganna hear the cliche "we had to fight jetlag"... It part of international travel.. the ingenuity of the medical crew can help resolve this.... proper travel arrangements and appropriate sleep patterns and schedule.... Uhmm... Which Haruna do you speak of Sir? If it's Haruna Lukman then please note that you've made a faux pas. Haruna lukman featured at the 2009 fifa u20 world cup in Egypt. Mikel starred in 2005. Mikel was taken off in that game against Korea Republic(i.e. South Korea) and was replaced by a certain Kola Anubi... And what happened next? We gave up our lead and went on to lose 1-2. Boy!!! That result got me a little scared ahead of our next game against a Senderos- and Alexander Frei-inspired Switzerland. I was just in Jss3/SS 1 back then in 2005. I was having a great week at school academically only for that result to stain it. Never the less, Thank God we recovered and went on to stun the world but couldn't get the title no thanks to Messi. THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS I'M BANKING ON THE LIKES OF AWONIYI THE INTELLECTUAL, IHEANACHO THE GENIUS, YAHAYA THE INIESTA, SUCCESS THE BEAST, IDOWU THE 4-LUNGED HORSE, MUSA MOHAMMED THE ROBOCOP, EZEH THE BABY-FACED ASSASIN AMONG OTHERS LED BY MANU GARBA THE WISE TASK MASTER AND NDUKA UGBADE THE SCIENCE OF FOOTBALL PROFESSOR TO DELIVER GOLD AGAINST ALL ODDS.
I know they will deliver... No hypes intended. They stand on the threshold of greater greatness...
you got those two especially right. cool

Senegal U-20 team denied Austrian visas

The Senegal football federation announced on Friday that the under-20 team have been denied entry visas to Austria, where the group had scheduled a preparatory tour ahead of the Under-20 Fifa World Cup in New Zealand.

The body said 21 players and the technical staff were due to fly to Austria on Friday but failed to obtain visas.

Coach Joseph Koto, who published his final roster for the tournament on Thursday, claims the decision of the Austrian embassy could affect the team’s plans for the competition, but insists they will draw up a new programme to enable the junior Teranga Lions to prepare adequately for the World Cup which kicks off on May 30.

Senegal are in Group C with Portugal, Colombia and Qatar to be based in the city of Hamilton.

Senegal finished as finalists of the 2015 African Youth Championship which they hosted in March, which was won by Nigeria.

Nigeria, Ghana and Mali are the other nations to represent Africa at the Under-20 World Cup.

Flying Eagles to start v Brazil

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles now know who they are to face at the 2015 Fifa U20 World Cup starting in New Zealand on May 29 after the football governing body released the official team lists on Thursday.

The Garba Manu-tutored lads are in Group E of the biennial tournament and are grouped alongside South American heavyweights Brazil, Hungary and North Korea.

Nigeria will start their campaign against the Selecao of Brazil on June 1 looking to replicate the heroics of the all- conquering under-17 side that won the Fifa Under-17 World Cup in the UAE two years ago.

Just like the coach, the majority of the current squad members have been promoted from the under-17s to the under-20s and it is expected this continuity will work in the team's favour.

The Flying Eagles are African champions at under-20 level after edging out the Young Teranga Lions of Senegal in the final game of the Africa Youth Championship in Senegal in March.

Nigeria’s first game will be against Brazil who have included the trio of Andreas Perreira of Manchester United, Jean Carlos of Real Madrid and Alef of French side Olympique Marseille in their team.

New coach Rogerio Micale will hope the trio can inspire his side to win the trophy, ably supported by the talented cast of Kenedy from Fluminense and centre back Danilo who plays for Portuguese side Sporting Braga.

Brazil won’t be the only threat in the tournament as Argentina, winners in 2005 have always done well at this level as Argentina are also favourites for the title.

Coached by Humberto Grondona, the junior Albiceleste are one of the powerhouses from South America and have Atletico Madrid’s Angel Correa and Barcelona B attacker Maximiliano Rolon in their ranks.

Other players to watch our for include Colombia’s Alexis Zapata from Udinese in the Italian Serie A, Andre Silva of Portugal, Serbia’s Milos Veljkovic who is with Tottenham in England and Uruguay’s Diego Poyet, who is the son of former Sunderland coach Gus Poyet.

Nigeria’s Group E opponents Hungary also have a good squad to count on with the Atlanta Bergamo of Italy duo David Forgacs and Akos Kecskes the stand-out players in the team.

North Korea, whom Nigeria will face on June 4 at the Stadium Taranaki are relatively unknown but have been together for the past two years under the tutelage of coach An Ye Gun.

They will look to upset the apple cart in Group E as they face more illustrious opponents in Nigeria, Brazil and Hungary.

Nigeria’s fixtures:

June 1: Nigeria v Brazil (Stadium Taranaki, New Plymouth)

June 4: Nigeria v Korea DPR (Stadium Taranaki, New Plymouth)

June 7: Hungary v Nigeria (Stadium Taranaki, New Plymouth)

And another wasted slot to Africa. What kind of shitty preparation is this? Due to fly to Austria on friday(yesterday right?)..... Yeye country! while others are planning on traveling to New zealand this one are thinking of opening camp just few days to tournament. Where were you while others were preparing. Going to Austria as what? Tourists I guess.

Mali and Senegal are just going to New zealand to mark register. Two jokers.

Team Nigeria is the main thing coming from Africa. Ghana CAN do well too

Awoniyi is definitely gonna be a hit at the Tournament. He's gonna lighten up New Zealand with "brilliant" goals. He gets pace and stamina, and I would be glad if he's flanked by the speedster - Simon Moses and Issac Success probably in the 2nd game; then to be supported by Nacho.
Wish the Team very best of luck!

Or is it possible for him to play today and as well features in the tomorrow match?

What was Bulbwa thinking when he signed a contract or agreement without his manager. That was ignorant of him. I hope the agreement is not long term, if not the young man is in on a long legal battle. Any way, Esperance top men should forward the document to his manager, if not the manager should get lawyer conversant with football related matters to sort this out.

I hope other young players learn from this.

Secondly, if Iheanachoa at 6ft.2" is shorter than Awoniyi my loff in metres, that means Awo should be somewhere around 6ft.4", putting the likes of Alamps and Joshua roughly at 6ft5"-6".....

Kelechi Ihenacho is in the starting line up for the Man City U21 against Man Utd U21 for this afternoon Match. I'm kinda not sure he's gonna make senior debut against Southampton again tomorrow.
Or is it possible for him to play today and as well features in the tomorrow match?

If he plays full match today I don't think he will play tomorow again
