Hello house, I'd been offered admission into university of wollongong and currently awaiting my CoE... Please i'd like to know ur take with regards to what flight to book (direct to sydney or connect thru melbourne), and if a backpackers lodge is a viable option for accomodation considering d luggage one might carry.. Thanks
If u are not far from Lagos or Abuja, go do ur medicals right away, as it would expediate yourr visa process.
IOM is the best deal for flight, unless u hv a promo from Wakanow.
Backbakers dont care about your loads.

Am already praying o! I just have 3months relevant exp between my BEng n Msc and I claimed but dats still not up to 5yrs. I hv understanding of my fate...but there is a God in heaven....didn't do this in order to decieve.will go check the rounds
Thanks. Sis.....
bossladyMo:

And how many years work experience do you have after your BSC, and how many did you claim points for?

Go to the invitation rounds for the date you got invited....look at the minimum points score. I wouldn't expect Engineers to have an over-whelming number of applicants. so that increases the chances of you being invited, even if you claimed just 60.

You are not totally out of the woods yet though...but it is not as bad...there is an 80% chance you still get your visa. 20& is subject to the co's discretion. So enter prayer and fasting lol.

Are there no medium where u can contact those assesing the EOI so u can get better adviced on ur case? U might b lucky they can council ur application wit refund so u can reapply with more accurate datas. Dont just sit and b praying oo wen u know d exact consequence of ur actions..
U could still attached a writen statement so ur CO could know u acted innocently. This will also allow them re-asses ur claims instead of taking drastic actions against u...
Just my thought tho

Hope I have not gotten myself into a big shit! Didn't get to this thread till I had submitted my EOI, so my only source of info was the person that introduced me to it and the much I got frm skillselect n EA. I didn't know all these technicalities. In my CDR,I wrote on my IT done at d end of my Msc coursework and then on two post Msc exp....I got a positive from EA. I declared my Msc in d EOI. I didn't know what 'relevant' experience meant, so I claimed a 'non relevant' pre Msc exp. I also claimed my pre BEng attache exp and of course d attache exp at the end of my Msc coursework and also my post Msc exp....the EOI page said it seems I have 5 to 8yrs exp and I believe dats hw I was awarded 10 for qualification bringing my claims to 65points(Age 30, #ualification 15, IELTS 10).
Knowing about the technicalities now,am scared because I have only 4yrs 5months relevant post Msc exp which gives only 5 for exp (60 in total instead of 65)....DIBP says I must be able to prove my claim of 65points.
What's my fate? Do they look at EOIs to sieve out non relevant exp and exp gotten before the last qualification? NB I have gotten invitation and have paid n submitted though I am yet to upload my documents.
Comments pls.....
Tell me what ur EA results say. 4yrs of relevant work experience after ur M.Sc shld be 5points if EA didn't deduct any years from d 4yrs. 60 points is still OK to to merit invitation and visa lodgement.

Your money will definitely not be refunded.

However, if your BSc is equal to an Aus BSc, any work experience points after that can be claimed. There would have been an issue if you needed your Msc to get a positive BSc assessment.

I still am a bit confused tho...pls clarify a few details

After your BSc, how many years experience?

After your MSc, how many years experience?

My BEng was equivalent as my EA letter says: my BEng meets d current academic req for Professional Engineer (Skill level 1). Then the last paragraph said dat my foriegn MSc is broadly comparable to an Aus Msc for purposes of awarding points for qualification under GSM.

I have 6 months pre BEng exp
3months pre Msc exp and
4 yrs 5months post Msc exp

My BEng (five years) is equal to an Aus BSc as my EA said.

After your BSc, how many years experience? 4yrs 8months

After your MSc, how many years experience? 4yrs 5months
and 6months pre BEng experince......
On 10th april, the day of my invitation, 1000 got invited, about 530 with 60 points and about 450 with 65 point.

Seems your case looks familiar,it all depends on your plans,how early do you want to move as masters program in aus resumes twice a year (march/july),which school you want,what is your financial status,the rest should be a piece of cake.
Let me just list the steps,since im assuming you are a busy person.
1.register with an agent that can help you with admission (pfl,bcie etc),many ppl dont like the fact that they have to pay,but i think its worth it.a school under svp MUST be chosen.
2.once you get the admission,pay part of ur tuition fees to get a CoE.
3.once your CoE is out,do your medicals ,notarise your documents,get immunised ,pay for your health cover (for you and your wife)and go apply for the visa...573svp.
4 wait till visa is granted....book tickets and travel with your wife,depending on what you filled on your visa forms.
5.dont forget to use IOM for your travel ticket booking.
6.share your story on this forum

KEY
CoE =confirmation of enrollment
Svp =streamlined visa processing
IOM =International organisation for migration
PFL =preparation for life
BCIE =check google....lol

Thank you for the information. I do appreciate it.
To save cost, I will convince my wife to apply for PR. She has been working for the past 3-4 years.

Once again, i do appreciate your input.

I will suggest that you look for school in regional area and let your wife start the PR processing, I think it gets faster with nursing than doctors.

missakomaye:

You try wella for ur explanation ooo.
Kudos....

@DrDele,
There is the option of searching for admission yourself without the help of Pfl or any agent, depending on the school ofcourse. (Some schools now insist on using agents once u are applying frm Nig)

Thank you guys.
Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by DrDele: 1:21pm On May 25, 2015
NNBB2012:

My candid advise to you will be, that your wife should start the processing of her PR as primary applicant rather than coming here to study provided she will meet the points. You can check the PR process for Nurses in the previous posts. It is really expensive coming here to study when you are sure you can apply for PR. I had stopped someone from doing that in the past, and of course, he is ever grateful that I did that.

I would not advise you to resign your job and to come here to do jobs that you might not like. It is impossible to work here as a medical practictioner without having required qualifications. You have to pass AMC exam etc. Why not prepare for the exam while your wife is applying for the PR instead of going through the study that will not add to you, if you have mind of obtaining PR.

I know of a Dr who came to write the exam almost immediately after his study in Nigeria. He made it at first sitting and fortunately, he was able to secure a job and that led to his PR. On the other hand, another DR came here about 4yrs ago struggling to pass the exam without any success. In order to stay, he kept on hopping from one Msc degree to the other. He had to do just anything to survive. The goodnews is that, he made it eventually after years of struggling. I will strongly recommend that your wife should process the PR while you hold on to your job and at the same time try the exam rather than coming to study.

I do appreciate this input. I thought about the same thing. The money and the qualifying exams. i think my wife applying for PR will be a better way. she has worked for 3=4 years as a Nurse in Teaching hospital.
How do i go about it?
I am sorry for asking questions on things i can find out myself. I will create more time to read up on the the pages

Thank you.

Yeap! Reading your last post, I was just about to say the same thing Manmeta said. As long as your BSc is equivalent to an Aus BSc, then any experience after that graduation date counts.

So in total, you have almost 9years post BSc experience, yea?

Did you submit your EOI on or before the 23rd of March?
Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 2:04pm On May 25, 2015

Re: General Australian Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 2:06pm On May 25, 2015
Hi DrDele, I'd suggest you take up the MPH. The other options available for international students are Masters in Primary Care (UTS), and Masters in palliative care (Flinders) but having searched around with so much effort I think an MPH will offer best value for money in such a scenario as yours.

Also, you have a large selection of Schools offering MPH so a lot of flexibility there

PS: You can also consider Masters in Rural and Remote medicine, the cons are the cost and also most don't accept intakes on Student Visa.

All the best

How best can I prove my work experience? I have only my employment and advancement letter.
bossladyMo:

Check if electrical engr is on the list. If it is, assess your BSc alone, get at least a 10 in ielts, and you would qualify for a 190. If you chose to claim your work exp as points, then you would qualify for a 189.

If you don't have enough employment evidence to back up your work experience, just kukuma siddon with your 190.
