But you see bros, it is not that easy in politics. You can't damn the consequence. He doesn't need to acquire more enemies than he already has...otherwise, he will spent half of his administration fighting against enemies.

He needs to be extremely diplomatic in tackling them.
Brother, in leadership you have to set your stall. People need to know early that you can't be pushed around or it will NEVER stop. First they will insist on certain personal to be appointed. Next they will start to insist on certain policies. Before you know it the president is a mere rubber stamp to outside interests.
Shagari was a diplomat, he tried to carry everyone along. His govt failed.
GEJ was a diplomat, he tried to carry everyone along. His govt failed.

Nigeria does not a 'softly-softly' 'lets all get along' president. We need a decisive 'I am in charge' President. The power blocs in the ACP weather it's the Northern block or the SW need to understand that the President won't be pushed around. If he can't stand up to them, then I repeat his govt will be doomed.

Buhari should stick to whatever he has in mind. All this Northerners will put him in trouble. In democracy you must be fair to all.Just make sure you strike a balance. If you ask all to vote for you, you must also be fair to all.

I hope you guys now believe that corruption is not the biggest problem Nigeria has but that of structure. Power balancing, compromises and compensations are precursors to corruption. At the end of the day leadership in Nigeria is always weakened. We operate a jaundiced, corrosive, corruptive system by default. Even the Pope would not succeed in this conundrum.

In a complex country like Nigeria, their will always be the need for balancing in making federal appointments. That PDP did some things in a certain way doesn't mean APC should toe the same line. In fact, we elected APC because we expected them to do things differently. Buhari and APC should please get their acts together and ensure all regions are carried along in the federal appointments to be made. Junaid Mohammed and Co who contributed little or nothing to APC's electoral success should stop distracting the president.
The likes of Junaid Mohammed are the true enemies of nigeria and time will bring more atrocities from these people to light. This was the same individual who promised to make the country ungovernable during GEJ's regime and carried out this threat through the BH crisis. He is now the one stoking the embers of discord that will eventually tear nigeria apart. The north must understand that nigeria is a multiethnic and multireligious country, and all appointments must reflect same. Is it not an irony that the north that has for long held on to this concept of federal character, now want to push all the sensitive federal positions to the north. A word is enough for the wise.
Re: Appointment: ‘APC Is Holding Buhari Hostage’ - Newtelegraphonline by mazeltov(m): 10:18am On Jun 02, 2015
The truth is bitter but it must be swallowed, the north has remained the only region drawing us back, before I used to support one nigeria but now, i need to have a rethink, it seems one nigeria is not the solution

Religion and tribalism is whats driving govenance in Nigeria. That is the root cause of our problem as a matter of urgent govt must provide laws to control them and make it public.

I thought the president said he belongs to everyone and no one, why is he being held hostage by his party. Governance not so easy after all? Well I don't want to call him clueless for now, let his actions do the speaking sad
From the way people like Junaid are carrying along, it is obvious that Buhari belongs to no one other than the north. We are watching.

PointB:
Buhari is the President, not APC. It was him who won the election, not APC. He should stop entertaining us with excuses and get down to the business of governance. Boko Haram is overunning Maiduguri while Buhari and APC trade blames. What kind of nonsense is this from buhari one and APC?
Are you serious. But I thought the APC won the elections. Oh, well maybe I was mistaken. This country.....

Buhari doesn't need all these please. He should be decisive and try and to balance party wishes with personal wishes, with national interest the balancing factor.
Hahahaha. Is he a trapeze artist. What's all the balancing acts. No wonder Nigeria is a circus.
Re: Appointment: ‘APC Is Holding Buhari Hostage’ - Newtelegraphonline by codedguy1(m): 10:25am On Jun 02, 2015
I hope Buhari is not confused with all the suggestions/advice he is getting from all and sundry.

There is no Marshall law or Idiagbon to rescue him now.

I just hope Tinubu's description of Buhari being a destabilizing factor will not play out when he eventually makes his decision because the way it is looking now is that no matter who he appoints to any post there would be rancour.

I noticed that on threads where people tried to suggest appointments for buhari you only see names of southerners like BRF, Oby, Fayemi, Ngige, Amaechi, Duke etc no names from the north, while we are suggesting ours on Nairaland the northerners are also suggesting theirs for key positions directly to Buhari for key positions which makes me to conclude that we are all just selfish.

True federalism/regionalism is the only way. Every state explore your your human and natural resources and pay tax to the center. The revenue from offshore exploration to be shared by evryone equally including the ND states, decentralise the center. This is the best way to move this country forward.

I did not support Buhari, however I want him to succeed. If he fails all of us will feel the impact.

It is with that in mind I would like to say to the President, stand up and be the PRESIDENT You have the type of mandate hardly any elected president has had in Nigeria's history. The masses seem to be with you. Tell ALL the political groups to go to HELL. You are the President C-In-C. You have the complete and total right to appoint whomever YOU want into your govt. If these so called groups mean well then they should support your efforts. If you accept ANY nomination from an external body over somebody you would personally have selected, then you can consider your presidency doomed from the start. You have been around the Nigerian political scene since the late 70's. You have connections across the country, you have said yourself that you know the man and women of good moral conduct and sound technical competence, that you would like to bring into your govt, so what's stopping you? Make your selections and damm the consequences.
Then they will make his tenure ungovernable and there will be nothing you can do about that. They will simply make him fail. That is how
bad this country is.
Re: Appointment: ‘APC Is Holding Buhari Hostage’ - Newtelegraphonline by Lionsclaw: 10:29am On Jun 02, 2015
grin They want NSA, CBN governor, SGF, COS Lol. They indirectly want Nigeria in their pocket. A man they could not put in power till the southwest aided them now they want everything because Nigeria is theirs. Well I have always heard Buhari is a hard man, let's see whether he bends to their demand, though I doubt he would especially from the the " I belong to everyone and I belong to no one" statement.

Thats not possible..He has the national interest at heart but trying to implement that is going against the party's interest. If Buhari wants to succeed, he must be ready to go against the interest of APC as a party because the party does not have the nation's interest at heart, but their own selfish interest..Buhari should choose one and the earlier the better..

Why is Rivers State always left out of quality positions in the Federation? Oil is highly sourced from our land and we can't still be offered minister of petroleum resources? SGF, CBN Governor, COS, etc all for the north? I hope you guys will not drop our hero Rotimi Amaechi who is even capable of being the president. He deserves at least minister of petroleum, power, works or even finance. We need someone like him who is strong, has courage and can go at any length to grant himself his aim. Amaechi is the man. Na me talk am.

Hmm! In the end I know Buhari would make the best decision. The thing is, if he were to ignore zoning, and just chose people based on THEIR WORTHINESS ALONE, and the bulk of those people fall within a few ethnic groups, people would complain about marginalization. So, he really has to take his time, and play it safe. Anyway,if you have problem lasting long in bed, hit me up on BBM- 7C22F6EC.
