Still cant believe that 90mins flew by and Okon didnt make 1 substitution!!

That man is a liability to the team,he should be given his return ticket and allowed to come back home. Those girls will coach themselves

Are u serioushuhhuh

Do you know anything about football at all?

Do you know that the Swedes were tiring out at the end of the game, and fresh legs injected into the game could have killed it off?

Why take 23 players when 11 can do the job?...e for kuku nor get substitutes bench nah

On his return to Nigeria Okon should be sacked he contributed nothing he was a fan out there. We should have won this game not drawn.

It was the best decision for Okon not to make changes because they are playing well and the 11 players on the pitch already understand themselves perfectly well. So no need of changing a wining team.

does he think subs carry over? Or was he expecting overtime? This is why this women can't progress useless coaches simple corner u can't defend right like what year is this? If we want to get over the hump we have to get a foreign coach it won't cost that much either the NFF need to stop short changing these women.

Come on guys... What are u talking abt? THAT WAS OUR STRONGEST 11 OUT THERE... Who u wan commot? Oparanozie was gr8 (minus d own goal) wit hold up play and more. Oshoala was highly impressive and too hot 4 d swedes. Ordega was da bomb. Okobi was superb wit attacking play, a goal and 2 assists 4 our 2nd and vital 3rd goal. Nwabuoku was special in the dmf role. Ayinde was my woman of the match(Oshoala and Okobi deserve dis mvp 4m me but Ayinde's a super pass master and excellent ball retainer/winner/distributor... She did her job). Chukwunonye and Ebi were rocks in dat defence dat stood tall against the swedes but they were ball watching, as wit odas, 4 dat 2nd and 3rd goal. Ebere ngozi was good at left full back, got 4ward well and did good in defence. Ohale was gr8 also but d 3rd goal came thru her wing. Dede didnt organize the defenders in the 1st half but did gr8 in d 2nd though she was hardly tested in the 2nd thanks to improved play from Chukwunonye, Ebi, Ohale, Ebere and d dmf, Nwabuoku(our captain fantastic).
I PREDICTED A SCORE DRAW OR A SLENDER WIN 4 THE SUPER FALCONS IN MY LAST POST IF THE GIRLS PLAYED TO THEIR STRENGTHS. It wud hv been the latter(a win) but It's ok, it's still a good result...
WE HV A GOOD BENCH NO DOUBT WITH THE LIKES OF COURTNEY, UMOTONG, NKWOCHA, OHADUGHA, ESTHER SUNDAY, ETC. BUT I THINK I AGREE WITH OKON HERE... The girls on d pitch were in control and had hit a particular momentum dat was gonna ride us to victory or at worse a draw. TAKING ONE PLAYER OUT ESPECIALLY 4M THE ATTACK OR THE MIDFIELD IN THE GAME THAT JUST FINISHED WUD HV SOMEWHAT TWITCHED THE MOMENTUM THE TEAM WAS BUILDING OR EVEN ALTERED THE CHEMISTRY OF D TEAM WIT RESPECT TO DIS MATCH ALONE. I wanted to see Courtney come in coz he got power and pace and, like Oshoala and Oparanozie, can match the swedes power 4 power, strength 4 strength. BUT ALL DA SAME, IT'S A GOOD START AGAINST THE WORLD NO.4 OR IS IT NO.6? Any1 sha... But I knw they're in da Top 10 in FIFA RANKINGS. And to think we are ranked no.33? Boyyyy!!! THE SUPER FALCONS I SAW IN DA 2ND HALF ARE TOP 10 MATERIAL...
Congrats Nigeria... LET'S KEEP THIS SUPER MOMENTUM GOING...

What winning team? Were u watching the same game? We never had the lead he should have injected new blood Sweden's first sub led to a goal. This game is chess not checkers u have to be tactical i don't remember seeing any match that the coach didn't make one substitution, not even when he decided to kill the game off any Joe would tell u u make subs at that moment. All that head first pride nonsense has led us nowhere we need to outsmart teams now that's what great teams do.

SuperNerd those girls won the match themselves single handedly..no input from the bench.I cant believe you will support a coach that cant influence a game with his bench.

Let me tell you the truth,Okon is a dull and fearful coach,he lacked initiative in this game and lacked the balls to go for the jugular when the girls levelled the score.

Whats the point having a player that is tired and having muscle cramps on the field when you have a bench eager to be let looose.I will reply your post tomorrow in full..but i was hoping Okon would have improved technically, but today as much as i rejoice with my darling team..i cringe with fear,Okon will be our downfall.

All 3 goals came from Ohale she gave up needless corners that cost the first 2 goals Njoku should start from now on she does everything better, playing only 11 players in a game is plain stupid there is no excuse for that its not cute its dumb. The Swedish players were also playing good but they got changed.

Sir Emmzyst was wrong to say winning team... But I get his point. And I also get yours perfectly, but Sir pls answer dis: Based on the match we just finished watching, Which specific change do u strongly believe wud hv made a 'positive' difference against the highly tactical swedes?

Pls let's be really honest and open-minded here... Ok Sir, I'm waiting.

SuperNerd..from the top of my head,i can tell ypu Ohale shouldnt have come back in the second half.

Oparanozie did a good job,but dont you think a Dike or Ini introduced at the latter stages of the game would have given the Swedes a whole new challenge to deal with?

We have a another game this week, and you played ur best team for the full 90mins,dont you think they will burn out early?

Its common sense,Okon nor sabi ball pass LVG,Pep or Mourinho..they never and i repeat never play a game without making a change, with a better coach and a better plan..we would have had d 3points in the bag.

For one take out Ohale as she was shaky for the most part then i would have take out Oparanozie cuz she worked her tail off and was visibly tired and also Ayinde her touch wore off in the later stages i would have replaced them with Njoku, Ayila and Dike. Njoku at half time and Ayila around 70 minutes and Dike at the ending cuz all she needs is one touch.

You're pretty much right about Edwin Okon's poor (or lack of) initiative and technical/tactical depth. Believe me when I say, "I know Okon is no where near fantastic" but still he's the coach... He's on da hotseat, not me, not you, or any1 here (then he shud leave the job and go find sumtin else rite? Wrong!!!). We hv to pray he sees his deficiencies and improve 4 d sake of our ambitions in this tournament. AND I DISAGREE WITH YOU ON ONE POINT... Dat d girls got d result on dia own without even 1% of technical input. No way Sir... I dont buy it. We came out smoking in the 2nd half coz the coaches did sumtin... No mata how small. Pls guys, cut Edwin Okon some slack ok... HE'S NOT FANTASTIC TACTICALLY AND HIS TECHNICAL ACUMEN IS A LITTLE BELOW AVERAGE BUT ALL DA SAME, HE'S SURROUNDED BY A FEW GOOD HEADS IN NKWOCHA(PLAYER-COACH AT HER CLUB IN SWEDEN OR WHEREVER AND HER VAST EXPERIENCE & EXPOSURE TO MODERN TACTICS CAN COUNT 4 DA TEAM), JUSTINE MADUGU AND SOME ODAS. Pls, pls, and pls... IGNORE THE NEGATIVES AND FOCUS ON THE POSITIVES.
I believe in focusing my attention on the best of pple and not the worst... That way I find reasons to believe and stay optimistic no mata what... Goodnite y'all. God bless Our 'AWESOME' SUPER FALCONS AND GOD BLESS NIGERIA...

FIFA Women's World Cup: Super Falcons Hold Sweden to 3-3 draw.

The Super Falcons put in an impressive display, as they came from behind twice to draw 3-3 with Sweden, in their first game at the FIFA Women’s World Cup holding in Canada.
Nigeria went into the break two goals down, after Desire Oparanozie deflected the ball past Precious Dede and Nilla Fischer scored for the Swedes.
Ngozi Okobi and Asisat Oshoala then scored in quick succession to level the scores in Winnipeg, as Edwin Okon’s ladies burst into life in the second half.
Their lead lasted just seven minutes, as Linda Sembrant finished up a well constructed move down the left. However, it was Francisca Ordega who had the final word, running onto a sublime through ball from Okobi and sliding it under the keeper.
The Falcons will play Australia in their next Group D match.

Re: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:59am On Jun 09, 2015
I've already said Goodnite but let me just drop this...

It's true Ohale wasn't at her best in d 1st 45. So dat makes her the obvious choice 4 substitution rite?
Njoku is a gr8 right back but did u notice Ohale grew into da game esp in da 2nd? It's true she gave away 2 corner kicks dat led to goals BUT was she the one who got d own goal? Was she the only one ball-watching as the 2nd went in? THE WHOLE TEAM(ESP THE DEFENCE) TAKES THE BLAME FOR THOSE GOALS NOT OHALE ALONE. This is a team. Together we strive. Together we lose. Together we fight. Together we win. Ohale stepped up in da 2nd half.

Like I mentioned Earlier in anoda post on this page, I was seriously hoping Okon brought on Courtney 4 maybe an Oparanozie... BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN! (honestly, OKON IS LIKE U SAID, REALLY TECHNICALLY DEFICIENT AND LACKING IN COURAGE TO TAKE THE BULL BY THE HORNS). What did I do? I kept my cool and believed we cud go on and equalize or even win coz Oparanozie, though obviously tired, was doing a gr8 job of holding up play upfront, making intelligent off-the-ball runs and playing her team mates(Okobi, d amf and Ordega) into attacking channels either directly or indirectly... One of those resulted in dat near miss by Okobi and Oshoala & then dat fine 3rd goal by Ordega wit Okobi d assist provider(watch Oparanozie's off-da-ball positioning and movement. She's a threat thus swedish players must be drawn to her and Oshoala). Oshoala, meanwhile, was everywhere across d attack and in midfield a couple of times.
All da same... One or at most 2 changes wud hv been made(WITH NO GUARANTEES... coz it's all down to 'What ifs') BUT LIKE I SAID... I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT AS FAR AS THE GAME WIT THE SWEDES WAS CONCERNED, THE 11 PLAYERS THAT STARTED HAD IT GOING TILL THE END...
Sometimes, u lose games 4m d bench or influence a game negatively wit just one 'innocent' change.

NOW THIS DOES NOT REFER TO OKON but I believe the ffwg statement...
A good coach knows what substitution to make. A better coach knows when to make such substitutions. But the best coach knows when not to make a substitution.......
GOD BLESS NIGERIA. It was Fun reviewing the game wit u guys(SIRS DODOBYTES AND BASCO VAN VELI, and not 4getting Sir Emmzyst). I beliv we get to hear 4m our ogas, Sir Cfcfan and Sir terzurum5... GOOD MORNING Y'ALL... Lukin 4ward to the next game with positive expectations.

GO GO GO AWESOME SUPER FALCONS! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Re: Super Falcons of Nigeria Thread: 2015 Women's World Cup by semid4lyfe(mod): 1:05am On Jun 09, 2015
Courtney Dike & Ini Umutong are not as good as you guys hype them. Esther Sunday & Loveth Ayila would have spoiled the game with unnecessary showboating, poor decision making and bad final balls.

Our forward trio of Ordega, Oparanozie and Oshaola best them in all depts. . .skill, ball control, speed, positional play, goal scoring ability etc

Bringing any of the aforementioned players in would have impacted the balance, rhythm and pace of our game negatively as our attack would have been blunted. The trio of Ayinde, Okobi and Nwabuoku did very well and completely bossed the midfield.

The only thing Okon got wrong was not playing Ugo Njoku and Ibubeleye Whyte at right back and goal respectively. Osinachi Ohale is a central defender and not a wing back. Ugo Njoku is a natural and better fit for that position.

Ibubeleye Whyte was in goal for the AWC, Olympic Qualifiers & was clearly the first choice heading into this competition so I'm wondering how Precious Dede leaped frogged her to be first choice. P. Dede is clearly past her prime and doesn't control her goal area. She is also jittery and has problems dealing with crosses. This is clearly one of the cases where experience is overrated.

I hope Coach Okon effects these 2 changes to the starting line-up for our games against Australia & the US.

4 best 3rd placed teams qualify to the knockout stages. If we nick Australia, we should be able to make it.

Up Super Falcons! Proudly Nigerian!
