This is good news if it's true. This is what i expect Lagos to do: 1.Set up the exploration process to capture all the gas, and power Lagos (and neighbouring states) with the gas that would have been lost through flaring 2.Set up the exploration process to deal thoroughly with spil. The environment must be given utmost priority; to the point that such areas shouldnt show signs of Oil exploration. 3.Since Oil exploration licensing is the jurisdiction of the Federal Government. Lagos must Partner the Federal to ensure 1 & 2. And as we have often clamoured, push for ownership of Oil revenue to be resident in the state of exploration with a fraction accruing to the Federal. Revenue allocation formular (FAAC) needs to be scrapped, and each state eventually should be self - funding. (This is a long term suggestion please, I do not intend belittling the states that seem not capable of generating funds internally. In the long term, ALL STATES in Nigeria are economically viable and can be financially independent) |
