It is no news that hatred has been the force driving the political section of this forum ever since the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the President of our beloved country Nigeria. Opposing parties and partisans have resulted to spewing words of venom without civility, particularly the more prominent "Daura President".
Though the unrelenting attacks on President Buhari had started before the just concluded general elections, one would expect such acts to be buried with the outcome of the election, but what we have on our hands is worse than anything we’ve seen.
Though some might argue opposing parties have a long history of hating and haunting those in power, our lack of restraint and class in doing so only proves that we are more divided than we are one - more so, in our haste to hate, we show how ugly and petty we can be.
Sadly, this negativity has shown that it can no longer be quarantined. Most persons have begun directing ill will at our president barely 3weeks into assuming his role as the president. It is not enough to constructively criticize, it seems.
Vice President "Prof. Yemi Osinbajo" has also received his share of unwarranted defamation, well beyond what could be considered as logical, save for the "commissioner" he has recently been tagged with - rather than complaint about his performance.
We have to understand that there's a difference between criticism and insult. No one should mistake profanity and cheap shots for valid evaluation. Social media may provide a platform, but it does nothing to legitimize bad behavior. Those who use such tactics show their lack of character and personal ethics. And justifying such low behavior by pointing the finger and claiming “while we we're in power, they did it too” is the kind of argument best left in nursery school. It doesn’t justify anything.
There is a need for checks and balances. There is a need for discourse and discussion. There is a need to work together. Constructive criticism does help keep the government on it toes no doubt, but when something doesn’t go the way you think it should, hating and insulting doesn’t help.
The pull him/her down mentality, syndrome or whatever it is has to stop. This stigma will take us nowhere. We should therefore put partisan and regional interests aside for the benefit of Nigeria. Let us stop the hate and learn to engage the government in constructive criticism that will benefit the country and not malicious, baseless or hate criticism will damage the good image
of the country.

It is really sad to see our political discourse reduced to this, we have replaced civility with bitter reactive battles. At the end we blame our leaders for the sickness we plagued ourselves with.

The OP should leave story abeg, PMB will not be the first to be called names, whether he is called "Daura President" or "Daura Wiseman", what should be important is his performance...

He can only prove those calling him names wrong, if he performs, the name calling will not stop no matter your appeal, so learn to live with it...

Don't let this politics of hate plunge deeper into the collective psyche of our country.
No doubt it has you lured into its deceit but there's the option to still back out.
We must stop this stigma, because if we don't, we'll find that the prosecutorial excesses we're using against our President, will become a norm, which might accelerate to a point where we, the people, will not be able to rein in our government.

This issue has been addressed in the OP. The consequence of this action is an infinite loop of hate that would yield only the destruction of our nation.
The cycle had been created to slowly chip away at the rights of everyone. It was created to blind us against ourselves, not to protect us, but to control us.

It is not just the name calling, it is the hate that comes with it. It results to individuals insulting each other In a rather uncivil manner. Such has lead to a discrimination between Yoruba's and Igbo's on this forum. The result is not always far fetched, it only leads to divisiveness or whatever you wish to slot in the equation

I know you as an atheist, and I know you've dissociated yourself from Nigeria and embraces the fictional Biafra. I know you've been indulged in unruly practices that has seen you do away with things(monetary) not belonging to you. I know you to be corrupt and to be bad for Nigeria. I know you to look for confusion where peace exist.

Please do well and stick to the thread, I know you well not to take you serious.

If the APC started it, do we have to have a repeat of the same event, knowing fully well such would hinder the progressive movement of our nation?
Can't we forget about the past and move on?

The hate? I think its rather the bitter truth, and frankly, many Nigerians are tired of the bull.sh.it. When OBJ, a former militant "won" his PDP nominee against Ekwueme and later the election against Falae, we were told to put differences aside, told to let us see what he can do, told that God will direct him, and told all types of complacent nonsense to keep quiet for 4 years (which turned to 8 and almost 12), when we knew we should have had a non-militant person. Then came a sicky sicky Yar Adua, running against the coupist Buhari, who he himself "by fiat" became the opposition candidate for the 2nd straight time, then GEJ, and back to GMB.

GMB call to history has been nothing more than mere coup plotting, overthrows, and arresting of people. Because our short history from the British occupation involves military boys, we are somewhat persuaded that Buhari was good, because the others were bad. The truth is none of the military boys were good, and they are the main reason we are in the mess we are in, and Buhari was part of several, even serving the very evil Abacha as PTF chairman.

See what happened in South Africa, where people were kicked out of the country. It happened with Buhari as well. So Nigerians and Africans need to get away from colonized and militarized mindset for once, or else, IBB will comeback and people will support

This response was based on a postulated assertion that "the APC started it". My response was however inline with an assertion already stated in OP to stop the continuous cycle of political hate as its consequences is unhealthy for the Nigerian state.

I understand your plight, but as stated earlier, the hate does not in anyway move us forward. Constructively criticizing the government is highly welcomed but resulting to hate would only lead to further divisiveness and marginalization that is the cause of our major economic woes today.
I hope you get my point.

I have made no point to you maybe, your posts on this thread can be easily summarized in a simple statement. Something already discussed
"Your continuous hate for our president replaces your idealism of the common good with the idealism of me, of
fear, of divisivness, of not my problem I
got mine, of greed and scapegoating"
An example is your dream of Biafra which is no doubt a selfish dream.

How does whatever expletive or label used on the person of the President detract from him, his performance and progressive movement of the nation? People keep saying, 'Give him a chance, Allow him to prove himself' and I just wonder what other chance he needs other than being 'voted' into office. He has everything at his disposal so he ought to get to work earnestly and give Nigerians what he promised. Unless citizens start protesting, demonstrating or there is any personal threat to his life or immediate family, nobody is stopping him or hindering the nation.
