You are the only person and the op that has written something reasonable. I see the bible app as something you use when u are not in church. I see the church as a sacred place. Phones and whatever gadgets u carry are a no no for me. I can use the bible app at home, in a bus, anywhere but when I go to church, the traditional way still stands.
the Church is d Body of Christ. We r d Church, una no even sabi Bible wey una dey carry abt. It says we are d temple of God. As Christians we shud carry christ everywhere we go cus we r d church.

The OP's idea is good natured but silly. The first Christians did not even have Bibles but they still cast out demons. Even the King James Bibles is just less than 500 yrs old. so what did those christians use then, scrolls?

Ridiculous people wif their ridiculous post... SMH

just like one mumu was saying that KJV is the only acceptable transmission of the Bible.

Shoro niyen?

FYI the word himself was with them (Jesus christ) 'the word became flesh' remember?
Jesus Christ was their Bible.
My question is, how can one be spirit filled without the Bible? I mean, if you're not frequently With the word, how can you study? Then become spirit filled?
Though I know there are people that only hold the Bible for show-off.
My point is, there's no spirit filled Christian who isn't seen frequently with the Bible. The word 'frequently' as used in the context also connotes 'study'.
if u actually read ur Bible u will know Jesus said a Christian shud have quite time. One shud set private time aside for d WORD OF GOD. Stop all ur hypocritical comments bro. Carrying is not a requisite to proof u study it. Ur comments shows u don't actually study d word of God.

I would gladly use a scroll if I see one. How do u justify using a bible app on a phone or gadget that has porn on it. It makes no sense. Many youths have porn and do all sorts wiv their phones. To me it's like putting the bible and porn on the same shelf. Even we as humans, when we read the bible, we are meant to be purified in truth and in spirit. Not to talk of when reading that same bible through a gadget that has uncountable atrocities.
LOL. As a Christian one shouldn't have porn or watch it. So r u saying all phones have PORN in dem?

Do we not know that Every good and perfect gift comes from God? (James 1 :17) The knowledge used in creating a phone came from God. Remember God gave Moses a rod stick which he used in performing so many wonders to the deliverance of the children of israel. Moses misused the same rod stick. We only need proper application of these tools from God and we will be fine. ( Phone included) With that been said, i can't condemn the use of smart phones in the church.

I think smart phone is not a substitute for the bible but it's smart to have the bible app. On sunday or anytime it's important to go with your bible because if you don't, it's like going the farm to work without tool. I'll share a short story below for others to learn from.

A friend called me from the police station that he needs my help to get him out of there on a saturday morning, i was surprised to hear that because i met him on his way to Vigil the other night.

On getting to the police station, I saw my friends name on the detention board. I went through all the police bail process to get him out of there , Thank God he was ok.

On our way home I asked him what happened, he said on his way back to the hostel from church the police stopped him and asked where he was coming from. He told them he was coming from church vigil and they requested to see his bible na so my friend carry him phone and tried to show dem the bible app but it didn't convince the police men. so they arrested him.

i just couldn't help but laugh because if he had his bible on him, it would have been a different story. So its important to go with your bible to church

Happy Sunday.

FTC... grin grin. On my birthday very cool, I use this opportunity to wish myself, the Excellency Gov Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state happy birthday and my good friend Olaniran Jamiu Ajibola.

Shoki on my mind.
And you think if ur friend carry his bible Nigeria police no go use question kill him...

I've been laughing since I got this joke.....but are we really this bad? ANGELS: Father! We are tired of these Nigerians in heaven. GOD: What have they done this time? ANGEL: Everything! They don't listen to instructions They don't obey traffic rules. They don't wait for their turn in anything. They are completely reckless!(Exasperated) In fact they have made heaven a living hell since they got here. GOD: Then we better send them to hell! (Calls the Devil). Hello.. SATAN: Hello my creator and master, pls call me later. There's an issue I'm trying to resolve. Ten (10) minutes later: GOD: Hello Lucifer. SATAN: Your Lordship my father! I'll call you back. The issue has turned into a crisis ooo! An hour later: SATAN: Hello? GOD: What's going on over there? SATAN: It's the Nigerians I have with me in hell oooo! (He stammers),they... they... they have quenched the fire in hell and installed air conditioners!.....

Reasons why sincere Christians should take the book known as the bible to church not a smartphone

1) Holding a bible shows one to be a Christian in public,it acts as an 'identity card' for every Christian. Ipads, smartphones does no such thing

2)Civilisation/technology has given us world where homosexuality is gradually being accepted, female reverends and gender changes all in contrast to biblical pronouncements. The church shouldn't follow the ways of this present world so closely

3)Christians lose the essence of the bible like the order of biblical books(after genesis is exodus.....3rd John then revelations) as a simple google search provides answer in comparison to scrolling round the bible and get fully acquitted with it

4) Ipads, smartphone substitutes acts as sources of distraction in churches with calls, pings, alerts and 'nairalanding' available at one's beck/call.

5) Ipads, smartphones serve one primary aim to most holders, showoff

6) 'battery low'

Even the hard copy bible you are advocating for should not be accepted. You people should use scrolls and stone tablets......African Backwards mentality.

OP I agree with you.
Honestly, the paper bible feels more connected to God and holy. Whenever I use my ipad's bible, I still check other apps and even games I'm afraid-so I decided to stick with my paper bible. Less distraction and it's more connected to God.
Next time put off your data connection

moving forward do not always mean progress, thats why a word like retreat is still in the dictionary, leave African mentality out of it because the forward you claim to be moving is reverse in disguise....... Check it out... Yesteryears unclothedness was the norm but few years ago we moved forward to clothing, Today or presently we are still moving forward oo, the likes of nicki minaj, eva, me, you and others are loving that same unclothedness o etc who knows of years to come if we will still be putting on cloths, thats forwardness..... Yes we are moving forward, even if satan is leading our churches this days by bringing distractive things, we will still tag it #movingforward...

Petit Batard means little bastard in French and not adding ''n'' to Nincompoop is just a simple error in fast typing. smiley No way did I lay claim to be a master of English Language or Linguistics and the OP is not even about English spellings.

Let's assume that I made some spelling mistakes it does not change the fact you have a very low intellect and peanut for a brain tongue and can not contribute meaningfully to the topic at all. It's beyond you, trust me!

This will be my last response to you on this thread, you can continue in your grand delusions of having a higher hand at being insultive if that's what will make you orgasm well. grin

Au revoir, petit batard!

So so rubbish. God wrote the ten commandments on stone, it was later written on skin before paper came into existence. Technology has made possible to have a soft copy of the Bible. In fact, the whole world is going paperless.

@op ooya lets sit and analyze.

No 1. Your point is valid

NO.2 Please tell your church not to use microphone anymore. Here's a list of things your church should do
. Bring down their website
. Stop using phones
. Stop driving cars
. Stop printing fliers
anything technology or civilization had brought. Infact, if you really do want to follow this your principle, we should all read our bibles on stones and not papers.

No 3. .... ok I'll just stop here.

But here's my point. I am a Christian, a very strong believer. I agree ipads can be a source of distraction. So can a lady in mini skirt who seats beside me in a church.

We should all Embrace civilization and technology and use it to promote the gospel and not try to oppress it with what we think should be.

Some people have the most ridiculous ideas.

Its not ridiculous. Just think along.

Many so called Christians are too myopic. Infact not Christians but religionists. Even the Bible said the letter/print killeth. I use my i-pad in church;
1. Instead of carrying the Bible, hymn book, Sunday school booklet, writing book and Biro, my single i-pad gives me all.
2. Instead turning pages front & back looking for Haggai, in less than 30scs I can locate any quotation in the bible with my i-pad.
3. Instead of stressing my eyes to have 3D look on those tiny prints, I can easily zoom the wordings in my i-pad. Etc

Technology have come for good, it will only be primitivity or. myopic to talk against it. Peace.
