So here's what went down;

Was having this uncomfortable pulsation when driving my sleek L cheesy cheesy

Series of wheel balancing did not solve this issue. Lots of permutations from uneven tire wear to a faulty wheel hub were thrown in.
All these with the recurrent/steady P2241, that graduates to P0430. . . . . . .So i went to some dude whom a colleague introduced me to. He runs AutoGenesis Centre. Just on the same premises you have Ascon filling station in Wuse II. . . . Adetokunbo Ademola (at the corner piece if you are driving from Amigos super market). Bayo is one heck of an auto encyclopaedia.

So after a test drive, he examined the tires and everything seem even. Removed the two front tires and realised that the Stabiliser linkages were weak: 2 front. Also saw that the Suspension bushings were also weak too. That could give an idea for the vibration. But i also noticed that the Brake discs and pads i changed in December was also 'burnt' (whatever that meant) and the pads chopped too. The burnt discs meant they have become warped too. sad sad sad

While we were on it, we started our usual discussion around the P0430 and P2241. And Bayo said he's figures something ideas at solving the issue. One thing about this dude is the way researches and reads issues. I doff my heart. So, he asks his boys to extract the malfunctioning sensor. and Lo. . . . . 'lead poisoning'. That's a Denso terminology to describe a sensor 'killed' by so much lead in the fuel or the fuel additives. There was a Denso sensor catalogue which further describes this issue. There's also Silicon poisoning and another one too (can't remember now).

So we clean up the sensor real good and reinstall it. Cleared the codes and observing it. About 30km later, still no 'Christmas light'. I will report back here if anything changes and i hope it doesn't.

It is instructive to note that, this lead issue goes on to affect the catalytic converters. With the leaded fuel on sale in Nigeria, the P2241 and P0420 and P0430 will remain a recurrence for most auto users.

I have introduced Bayo to this thread. he has visited and i hope he starts posting soon enough.

Bros u need to meet this guy. . . . . .maybe one of these days, anytime you are in Town.

Vibrations haven't totally gone, but i will do a wheel balancing and alignment and see what's up. Then plan to change the disc and brakes again.

I wish Gazzuz will give me the price for a good one.

I saw this last night and was really thankful. Cos i was thinking of how to shell out another N75k for a pair of front brake discs.
Do you know anyone who does it in Abuja?

Do you achieve a very smooth surface afterwards such that the vibrations are never felt? Pardon my curiosity. grin grin

While on a trip with my 2004 Lexus RX 330 AWD, i came across this level and straight road and decided to "max" the lex, and i discovered that i could not go above about 170 Km/H (110 MPH), each time i tried it forcefully refused to go any higher. I am assuming that mine has a speed limiter fitted.

Anyone noticed anything similar? Am not bothered about this cos am not a speed demon (My Highway speed normally is 130Km/H), just want to know if this is same for all RX models?

Did you have a meeting to catch with a speed demon, devil, angel or heaven ? 110 MPH is more than enough !!!!

Good day ALL,

I am new to this thread. I intend to procure my first ever car pretty soon and am looking at Lexus 2004 RX 330 AWD.

I have researched online about common problems, pros and cons about this car but I want to have Nigerian views about the car.

In that vein, I would like to know routine preventive maintenance tips, common problems as it affects use in Nigeria, plus any other relevant information which may be useful to me.

I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Thanks.

Guys,

Read through most of your comments and advises I am very impressed. Well I am a new Lexus owner and Just that I have not heard anyone talk about my Suv model year or any complain about it. I just bought a lexus Rx 300 2004 europe. I got it from cotonou though very expensive my intention was to get Rx 330 2004 0r 05 with a budgeted amount of 2.5m but when i saw this vehicle i fell in love and cld not control my urge after spending abt 3 hrs shopping for cars in diff garages in cotonuo I got it for 3m custom clearing inclusive pics attached. its 170k but from a very good user very neat. But after servicing i got the check lights on and VSC on dont know what to do ooo. need advice and also hearing a funny sound from the drivers side tyre. It comes with an air suspension.

Have your vehicle scanned to pull out error code(s). Have you physically taken off the tyre and had a visual inspection ? Did you HPI check the vehicle prior to purchase ?

please patch me through. The pic I see is that of 2004-2006 RX330. U said said u bought RX300 2004 model European version. I'm a bit confused. RX300 stopped in 2003. Please can u open the hood let's see the engine in there. That 170k, is it in miles or km. If in miles, I think 3m is a rip off for a 2004. All the same congrats.

Beautiful cream upholstery, sweet colour, me likes it. Welcome to da club.
For your Check Light and VSC, I'd advice a scan. Whatsoever the code is, post it here, for your suspension issue, do a physical inspection. Please and please don't let kazeem baptize your ride with his bad luck by pressing spoil button on that ride.

Partly. Had to service the left front Caliper. I discovered the break pistons were not retracting and the rubber bushings were worn, thereby leaking oil. The brake pad on that side is worn, basically explaining why the discs got warped.

My problem now is that my AFS indicator is illuminate.

I rang you two numbers last thursday and they were both switched off for long periods.

I am posting this problem here so that forum members will also benefit from the solution. On my LandCruiser vxr, the touchscreen has gone bad. That is, if you touch it, it will not obey your command except you use the buttons before the operation can be carried out. The touchscreen is also blurred. Please I will like to know if the touchscreen is repairable or has to be replaced. Please I reside in Abuja.

oh sorry about the ish.... Good youve discovered the reason for the warps... My phones were off because i was in ibadan, in a hospital.... I returned on saturday and fell ill due to stress... but Im in Uyo now.

Your AFS, did you depressed the button accidentally, did you/the mechanic touch the AFS height adjustment sensor on the suspension?
