Pls, I want to use this medium to appeal to the the federal ministry of works to pay the salary arrears of our brothers/sisters. There was a massive recruitments of engineers in the federal ministry of works, which was done through the federal civil service commission in the year 2011. My brother was offered appointment letter, he did documentation and induction training together with other engineers. But they have not been paid their salary arrears of October, 2011 to April, 2013 that is nineteen (19) months. The second thing apart from the salary arrears is their FIRST 28 DAYS allowances.

Wow!! Kids, if a country says it's broke it doesn't mean it doesn't have money at all. All it means is, it's financial obligations outweigh what they have. They shared N400b+ yesterday but let's put that into perspective, FG and states owe construction companies N600B. That's just one of the numerous industries FG and states owe money. A lot of agencies are being owed money. A healthcare agency just reported today that it has not gotten any allowance since August last year. Again this is the same situation in almost every government agency.

Anyway at least they reported an increase from April due to improvements in refunds. I hope that continues with the steps the FG has taken to block leakages, I hope we continue to see increase as the months go by.
Thanks for this insightful contribution.
In addition to what you've said, treasury means savings. What was shared according to this report is May earnings. Some people are yet to recover from their loss in the last election.

So far VAT contributes about 46% of total government earnings and some idiots will be shouting that Lagos( which generates about 80% of the VAT) was built with oyel money. Mad people.

It possible he emptied the treasury sinx he knew he was no longer the president. This is a possibility. Not that I believed what PMB said but our politicians always believe in wrecking havoc 4 the incoming government.

This is typical of an ousted politician. GEJ isn't an exception
I guess you just ate humble pie. I thought you had a room full of evidence that the Treasury was empty?

All these Buhari-blinded, half-baked political town criers should just shout tha fuucck up!

See as I de shame for you embarassed

Seriously, many people on this forum need to go back to school and get quality education.

So, the fact that PMB may have indeed met "virtually empty treasury" now translates to no money to run the country?

Learn to put words into contextual meaning. "Virtually empty" may actually mean far less than what was expected.

And the fact that Nigeria has earned more money every blessed day since May 29 is enough to have money to share again.
Trying to spin that statement into relevance eh? The facts available show that for some reason the president misspoke. Accept it and move on, don't dig a deeper hole than necessary.

They are now siting with legs with open to dip and eat the treasury as it were .. I only wish Biafra will come anytime soon . We can be delayed but not denied so i will stop hearing all this mallams and yoruba ppls story of treasury emptiness .

Let's look at it from the stand point of a new manager in a coy that has been in operation for years. You resume for work, take a look at the statement of account and found out that there is nothing to show for the coy's existance over the years. WHAT DO YOU CALL THAT?
Re: FG And States Shared N409.354bn Yesterday by ohenhen1: 8:26am On Jun 24, 2015
Why haven't NNPC refunded the $1.48 billion?
Re: FG And States Shared N409.354bn Yesterday by ohenhen1: 8:27am On Jun 24, 2015
Most of the VAT goes back to Lagos.

Too many kids on the forum really.
I guess when they see billions, it makes their heads spin. Maybe I should help them break it down in numbers they can understand.

Kids, if you look at your account balance and you have N10,000 but the debt you have out there is going up to N100,000 won't you say your account is virtually empty?

If someone owes you N100k and pays you N1k, are you going to start celebrating?

Think about it in that way but this time add many zeros. Children I hope you've learnt something today.

Draw a parallel between what he met and what he left you will understand the statement "virtually emptied treasury"

Yeah that is the Nairaland problem now.Especially our little SE boys and girls mostly undergraduates that participated in an election for the first time in their life last February.
Most of these kids lack basic knowledge of economics, government operations etcetera.
They have turned Nairaland into Facebook walls
I take time to check some profiles. Some are really kids Honestly.
All I do now is ignore them and FYI basic ethics, and culture of respect for elders, age and constituted authority differ a lot across the ethnic groups. So take note of that too.

May 2015 Allocation

What was shared is income accrued to the Federation in May, 2015 not in June, 2015 when Buhari's government came to be.

its like this rather;he met like 0.75 (almost full) and called it almost empty! My assessment, He's a Pessimist! Cos its obvious from all the monies they"ve been sharing and all for wardrobe allowance, this present one they shared and many more to be shared;thats everything but an empty treasury! With an empty treasury, there'd be nothin to share!

You just confirmed your status here as officially daft. You have no home training, no school training or any form of training at all.
Am sure my first daughter is far more intelligent than you or any member of your morally decadent pack of squirrels called family.
Am sure you.cannot survive or exist in any other place except Nairaland .
