We need all our business completed before we jet off for preseason... Woodward, get us Otamendi and issue an ultimatum to Ramos, to either sign or burst...

Ramos doesn't own himself na, just like de Gea doesn't own himself although the clubs will consider the wishes of their player. prices need to be agreed still.

Otamendi is pushing for a transfer but his release clause is posing a problem for both parties

Otamendi is 27yrs right? His release clause isn't so absurd if you ask me, we'd pay higher for an overrated English lad

Ramos isn't happy with the treatment he's received from the Madrid hierarchy over time, only twice has his contract being improved upon since he joined the club, for a player of such quality, it's unthinkable thus I think there's a real chance we can convince him to push for a deal (transfer request, anybody?) knowing we're no strangers to offering bumper contracts...

it appears the rumors about Schneiderlin are true @ £20m rising to £25m depending on performances.

Giggs told the Sunday Times: “If there are players
available who are winners, who are proven then, yeah, let’s go and get them.

“On holiday I was still on the phone to Albert about players coming in and players for the new season.

“With any good team, the spine is important. Midfield,
striker, centre-backs, goalkeeper. I’m sure we’ll be
looking to strengthen the spine all the way through.

“We obviously need to strengthen because we were
fourth. We weren’t first, second or third. And the teams above us will strengthen, too.

I don't totally agree.
I think if Ramos is truly dissatisfied as the media would have us believe, he would at least try to force a move and make it unequivocally clear that he is fed up with Real, whomever his agent is. I'm with Rio in that I think he is using the United link to up his contract.
I largely do not see him signing for us as things stand. What is more infuriating is that the bid for Ramos has been raised to 60 million Euros, according to the Mail.

and that simply works in our favour.....
madrid playing hard ball with ramos would have a ripple effect. it means they would have to pay more to get de gea or we let de gea run out his contract & walk free next season.

we don't have to worry about de gea's performance too - he has to perform otherwise he would shoot himself in the foot as poor performance from him would exclude him from the euro 2016 squad. so it's either madrid give us ramos or they simply forget signing de gea till 2016.

it's win-win for united!

I'm not in favor of Ramos signing for us. Let me put that out first.

You also forget that Ramos has two years left on his Madrid contract and they do not have to sell. So they could also end up keeping Ramos and getting De Gea on a free. Win-win for them as well, without having to spend a penny.

That said, I still think that it is an unrealistic target.
What happened to the apparently done deal we had with Otamendi?
Isn't he supposedly a better player than Ramos, and cheaper as well?

United Wrapping Up Schneiderlin Deal On Wednesday.... cool
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by SailorXY: 2:32pm On Jun 28, 2015
the way I see it, de Gea himself is still unsure what will be a better option for him in the end. it is very possible he moves to Madrid & spend the season on the bench behind Casillas, there are no assurances from Madrid or even the desire to pay the asking price.

he will be a very big fool in the end if his calculations concerning the Euros smash him back in the face.

apparently, LvG is more than prepared to let him off on the free next summer so its either pay up or fuuckk off.

No need to be harsh.

I'm thinking that he doesn't need to move to Real to displace Casillas as Spain's no.1.
He was already in the process of doing that, coupled with Iker's generally declining form.So his eye being turned to Madrid is more for sentimental/non-football reasons.
I hear he's placed his house up for sale.
In a way, letting him go for free could help in properly identifying a safe #1 ahead of time like we did in the case of van der Sar with De Gea in 2011,instead of this rush induced by panic.

I just do not want to see Ramos in a United shirt.

It's not by harsh, its just the fact. the "sentiment" attached to his business is the problem. he doesn't want to come up & publicly declare intentions not to be on the bad side on any of the parties.

if he declares he want to move & Madrid is not even showing enough seriousness to pay for his services, both the fee & wages - he'll now fall to the bad side of the United fans. Madrid will still have to pay Woodward's evaluation & de Gea will settle for a lower salary than what's on the table for him.

note: that "house for sale" is a rented apartment & the real owner put it up for sale. de Gea is just a tenant.

ramos would improve is massively.
RB - ramos
CB - smalling
CB - otamendi
LB - shaw

that's a formidable back four. if you add rojo & blind to the equation, we are set to compete in europe.

You also forget that Ramos has two years left on his Madrid contract and they do not have to sell. So they could also end up keeping Ramos and getting De Gea on a free. Win-win for them as well, without having to spend a penny.

they would sell if ramos continues to denigrate real madrid. florentino perez is a lunatic. he sacked ancellotti because he subbed gareth bale. he's that fickle about himself.

ramos can play RB! that's the plus....
otamendi's deal is sealed. after copa, he would fly to england & we would pay his buy-out clause(£35m)

if ramos is available, we should get him. smalling & co would learn a lot from him. he has won every title possible in club & international competitions.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville absolutely destroyed a Liverpool fan on Twitter

One poor soul has been publically and emphatically destroyed by Gary Neville on Twitter.

The Old Trafford legend is currently trying to get former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher to wear a Manchester United shirt after winning a bet.

Carragher bet his Sky Sports pundit pal that Tottenham's £17m man Paulinho would score 15 goals in one season. He didn't.

Now Neville is making sure Carragher follows through with his forfeit of wearing the shirt, even though the former Anfield defender looks to be trying to get out of it.

Liverpool fan David Thompson (although we assume not the former Liverpool player) then tried to troll Neville in response to his tweet to Carragher.

Ramos isn't an outstanding right back, i'd pick Raphael over him him any day...But then the fact he can be deployed there(only in cases of emergency) is a big plus...No manager in the world will play Smalling instead of Ramos in his preferred position

True.
All the more reason we need to avoid as much wrangling with him.
His tendency to overbloat things will only affect the price of a 29 year old negatively in my view.

coogar:

Ramos is versatile, agreed. But he's also a red-card magnet.
But you'll also agree the fees quoted for United's second bid are way too high. It's like everybody wants to exploit us at this time.

I hope it's not one of the speculations linking us to John Utaka and Christian Obodo.
I hear even Real is in for his signature as well. Patiently waiting for July 1.

Big IF.
I still think it's hard to believe that a near-30 year-old Spaniard who's earning well enough in his present club (happens to be Real Madrid) and is assured of a mid-season break in Sunny Madrid will come to Manchester with games all through the season and miserable weather. Throw in the fact that he'll grow home-sick in a couple of years and I'm not convinced he really wants to leave Real.

whether RB or CB, he would improve us in the defence. he's a goal threat from set piece. apart from smalling, which of our defenders can you count on to stick his head & attack the ball in a crowded box?

jones is a big for nothing möron - i cannot remember anytime jones has scored a header directly from a corner or a crossed freekick. we are in europe now, we need goal threats from every department of the team.

90% of those red card incidents are normal play in the PL. la liga referees are dïckheads & we don't have beef matches like el-clasico here in england. the beef is amongst the fans, not with the players.

there's an element of truth in it.

37million pounds is too much for him, if we can get him for less than 30m ok.
He has only one obvious flaw......he struggles when attacked with pace, that could be a liability in the EPL. Outside that he is an absolute beast.....physically in the class of Yaya, Matic and Wanyama. He has lots of PAWA, elampiro will love him

And if it comes down to Schneiderlin or Willy Carvalho i would choose Morgan with his versatility,EPL experience which makes him less of a risk at this time. Carvalho might have a higher ceiling though
