All you guys saying he should have written the final exam should just go and sleep. He who wears the shoe, know where it pinches. If he had written the exam he might be tempted to practice. He understand his own predicament best.Just let him be please.

My dear civil engineering, even before jamb and waec , I had chosen you. I love everything about you. All the integration, Lagrange, moment distribution, bm diagram etc.. Am in love with all site experiences studying you has afforded me..
Even in this period when most sites have closed because government says there's no money, my love for you remains statically determinate. As I keep searching for other sites and hoping that my company recalls us to site, I won't allow my feelings for you undergo any form of deformation under this excessive loading that our government has put on me... I believe I will make it also. As I drop this my tappered pen, I want you to remember that I studied you not because my parents forced me but just out of true love for you.

Nigerians and the "Certificate syndrome"
"he should have at least done the last exam so that he will get a certificate and be called Dr"
Then what?? A man said he doesnt want to be a Dr, he doesnt have passion for it & rightly dropped it.
I am proud of this guy. Being a Dr is much more than just carrying a certificate.
The 2 most important day in ur life are: the day u were born and the day u find yourself.
I remembered watchin Steve Job's talking about when he dropped out of school. He said "when u follow ur passion, all of your choices will begin to make sense"
Imagine if he were a Nigerian and this thread is about Steve Jobs that dropped out of university to study Caligraphy. Try to imagine the comments here.
That Caligraphy class didnt make sense then until years later when he used it for the font of the iPhone we all carry about now.
One of the reason why Nigeria is backward as a country is because so many people are stuck doin what they have no passion for. Many went to school & accepted any course they were given cuz they couldnt get the course they wanted. In the end, they pass through school like a zombie, acquire the paper wit empty zeal and go on to the industry to continue the rollercoaster of failure.
Have u been to our hospitals? Its a sorry sight, beyond the physical aspect, most of the medical workers have no passion or work ethic, that is why they dont make break through here while other countries are breaking new grounds in medcine. We only learn to copy & do follow follow.
Most people live their lives for others unconsciously:
"What will people say if i drop out"
"Let me just get the certificate so they will call me a Dr"

Congrats to the guy for not conforming. A gud thing he followed his passion. Now he has excelled at it.
I wish him all the best in this endavour.

He could have completed his medical exam and then go on to face his journalism career. The medical degree could have been his visa to the world of medical journalism locally and internationally.
Sentimental decision rather than Professional decision.
Wouldn't advice anyone to take same path....Not a role model in anyway. Hope he makes something out of his new found career and with no future regrets for not completing his medical degree. Time will tell.

Medicine a profession for crammers.. Most of them aren't actually bright..

At least he gets to challenge himself under journalism
Funny one you are! Prospective medical students ( & engineering students) score the highest in JAMB/UME every year and They are not bright ?

Very bold decision, he was begged by everybody including lecturers and his enemies to come write the final exam but he refused.

Years have gone by now but I still believe he made a wrong decision, he should have written the final exam, obtained his certificate as a doctor and then proceeded to study whatever he wished to study.

That way not only would he actualise his dream, that would probably make him the first doctor-journalist.

Lol....ur funny. bro I get u but u see....we can never fully understand a matter or judge peoples actions till we have walked completely in their shoes. I was already pitying him when I read the first paragraph but when I read through, I understood what he was going thru. let's just thank God that another quack doctor didn't enter the Nigerian medical world and start another guessing and trial therapy. just be happy for him. tomorrow could have been too late.....u never can say.

the guy never talk true...ask him well well

With due respect, I dont think this guy has told us the whole story... if indeed he was 2 weeks to his 5th MB BS exam and then had to quit medicine for journalism then l find this very hard to beleive. He could have just sat for the exam, get the certificate and go ahead to shine in medical journalism like Dr Oz, The Doctors etc but to abandon med school just 2weeks to the final exam?? Nah nah nah...

Lagusta my brother l think this guy did not tell you the whole gist. l dont think this guy crossed 2nd MB BS (i.e 3rd year)... he probably did not make it and to avoid questions from his peeps he joined his colleagues to clinicals posing as a clinical student but decided to quit when there was nothing else to do and started giving the excuse of going after his passion....he is a smart guy.

However l wish well in his newly chosen profession.
The whole story is all true. He did get to final year in medical school. He was even my mentor when I got admission to study medicine. When you hear him talk, you'd know that he belongs elsewhere. A very good orator. Wish him success in his new path!

He only succeded in doing that because his family is rich to sponsor him again....Think of a situation whereby the father is a farmer and the mother is a locust beans seller....whereby the parents managed to sponsor him....he wouldn't dare do that....

The irony is that if his father is a farmer and mother a locust beans seller , as you so say , they wouldn't insist on him being a medical doctor.

I know this guy, he first repeated into my class on year 2.
He used to organize tutorials for his junior then, bit has a way of talking with intimidation .

Several repeat in Med school can make someone suffer a severe depression and loss of self worth .

Most of his real colleagues are senior registrars now

I think he will do well in mass communication and with him good luck.

I only wonder who pays his school fees now after 10 wasteful years in med school.
