Hello VO, thanks very much for your response, but nvc has sent me the kids' fee payment invoice. Looks like my case cannot be completed without paying the fee online since they are now attached to my case as derivatives. Kindly advise on way forward. Thanks.

VisaOfficer:

The technical issues are being resolved, but they're not all completely resolved yet. The official language is: "We continue to work to address remaining systems issues as quickly as possible. Restoration efforts are ongoing, but posts should continue to see improvement." One of those issues is the online DS-260. If you just can't fill it out before the interview, you can use the attached DS-230 (see below), and pay the interview fee in person on the appointment date instead of online beforehand.

We will not be accepting the DS-230s forever. I'll let Nairaland know when the DS-260 issue is fixed, at which time we will go back to that method. In the meantime, I hope this helps.

Good morning guys! We got our NOA2 30 days after we filed! I hear the California Service Center is the fastest cheesy. My question to the VO is when our file arrives in Nigeria can you give the usual estimated time to Interview if everything goes smoothly; 2-4 months? 4-8 months? I'm just too excited! cheesy Thank you in anticipation smiley. Btw it's a K1 fiance visa.

Good day VO,

I have few questions to ask as regards to Immigrant Visa to the United States by a sibling/family member. My sibling in the States has a Permamnet Resident status for over 4yrs now, presently she's on the process of getting her U.S citizenship and she's willing to file immigrant visa for one or two of the family member.

I have checked through all the necessary documents to be filed by her but my questions are:

1- Can she apply for the family member now with her present status as Permanent Resident ?

2- How long does the process takes over there to be completed ?

Thank you in advance for the response.

Go ahead and pay the fee online, and if that lets you fill out the DS-260s, great! If not, until further notice, you can go ahead and use the DS-230s instead.

As soon as we receive the file, we contact the petitioner with instructions for scheduling the appointment online. There are usually appointments available around 4-6 weeks out!

No. Only U.S. citizens can file on behalf of siblings.

Right now the wait time for F4 (sibling) visas is almost 13 years.

13 years for a sibling visa shocked undecided What if the sibling is 95, he'll be dead before the visa is out. RIP sibling grin

As long as you disclose all of this information when you apply for the immigrant visa, and during the IV interview, the situation you describe should not pose a permanent barrier to your immigration to the United States.

Dear VO, hope your day is going well and you are looking forward to the long weekend. Please where will/can one disclose the scenario described above (referring to error in DOB) on DS-260 (under which section of the form)?. Kindly advise. Thank you

I'm afraid I don't have enough information to assist you. I'd need to know a case number, at least.

The case numbers are:
2009715046 and 2009715047
Thanks for helping.

Good morning,

Your file's not here yet. Our Correspondence Unit sent you the preparation packet because your most recent e-mail said: "I am ready for interview, I have booked an interview for 9th of July, and the CEAC website says ready for interview, what next??" That made it sound like your case is a case like any other (i.e. not a post-to-post transfer awaiting arrival here), so the Unit thought you just needed to know about the panel physicians, etc. Sorry about the confusion.

Good evening Ma, I finally got the email stating they have received the file less than a week after the previous email of discouragement and what saddens me really is that I decided to go on a holiday not back to Nigeria till august and have also rescheduled it till august 20th .. hmmm sad much my question now is the I-129f approval has an expiry date of 24th August M guessing this means I ought to be in the states by then does this get extended??

Ma, I cannot pay the fee online because of the system faults and my kids' names are still not included on my ceac page online despite the fee invoices sent. Can the DS-230s be filled and mailed to NVC, please? Thanks a lot.

I just want to thank you for your guidance and patience in answering different immigration questions, God will continue to reward and bless you abundantly.
Pls. Ma my children received a call from the embassy asking them to drop off their passports next week friday for visa issuance, as per the positive DNA result. Pls my inquiry is, can one of my children come to lagos and submit it on behalf of the other two. Or should all of them come. Though the officer that called them said anyone of them can come, i just want to confirm from you. Thank you for your reply. God bless.

Dear VO,

Thank you for this platform.

I had a B1/B2 Visa and made my way to the US. At the US point of entry (not the one i stated i was entrying the US from) the immigration officers were not convinced that i was only visiting as they were some misunderstood/contracdicting statements. However, i wasn't given any opportunity to explain myself then my Visa was cancelled 'WITH PREJUDICE' and i was sent back to Nigeria. Please i have a few questions that i will appreciate answers too and i will also appreciate your advice on steps to correct this situation.

1. What are the automatic penalties for this? Does this mean not being able to ever visit the US?
2. Is there a stipulated period before re-applying without visa refusal?
3. Will this affect my visa applications to visit or migrate to other countries especially Australia and Canada?
4. Will this affect other members of my family?
5. What if my fiance or spouse is a US citizen, will this be an advantage to visit and possibly migrate to the US?
6. What are the steps i need to take to correct the situation?

Thank you in anticipation of your professional advice and response.

Is your spouse a U.S. citizen? If so, once the petition is approved, and when it is documentarily complete, you will be scheduled for the next available appointment date here in Lagos. (IR1, CR1 visa categories)

Goodmorning Dearest VO. How do you do Ma?
Please does this also apply in the case of an applicant whose case was filed by a mother who is a citizen?

Happy 4th of July to our Lovely V.O. My Parents took a Road Trip from Columbus to Mississippi for their Family Reunion. My Step dad's Family do this every 2yrs, and they hoped our immigration process would have been over by now, and we would have been around for this year's Reunion. Am hoping and praying the Next Reunion, we would be there by God's grace. God Bless you ma'am for your selfless service to us on Nairaland. We sincerely appreciate it.

Good morning VisaOfficer.

My friend, a Ghanian and an MSc student in one of the ivy league university has been in a serious financial challenge since the beginning of the year. The problem now is that she is placed on registration hold because she is yet to pay her Spring term tuition and there is no hope she would get the money before Fall term start this August. She is currently doing an intern and is very confused on what action to take in a month time when school resumes. Is it possible for her to be allowed to remain in US to work in order to raise the money or she must go back home?

Thanks and happy anniversary!
