Chairman, I remain loyal sir! My response is as follows:

Check the second paragraph of my post that you quoted. That carries more weight than the third paragraph. In the final analysis, only she can make the most informed judgement on what career path she should follow. Also, I put a glaring caveat there that my advice was very biased! I'd still give it again and again sha. She threw a very general question and i threw a very general response. If she wants better advice then she'd have to give better details of the situation which I'm sure she won't want to do publicly.Questions like how old she is, what PGD program did she gain admission into, what are her career goals, etc need to be known in order to give a more holistic advice.

Having said that, the biggest pension company in Nigeria is StanbicIBTC Pensions (my sister, if na dia u get work, after you give your first fruit to God, abeg try bring the second fruit to me o!). How much do they pay entry level staff and how much will they be paying her 5 years from now? Now compare that with what you earned on your first job in Canada and what you are earning now (five years later).

Would appreciate it if you could clarify what you mean by career job. She didn't state what she studied in her undergrad so i'm not sure it's safe to conclude that this job is in line with her career goals. She only said it's a good place to start a career. I guess that's tempting enough for her to hold onto as per bird-in-hand. But i also want to pose this teaser...if her credentials are good enough to get her a job with a major company in Nigeria, they are probably good enough to get her a job in a minor company in Canada, which will still give her better options going forward.

Meanwhile, say i de dispute with you nor mean say i don do freedom from being your apprentice o! You remain my Shiaman sir!

Thank you Sir.

Hello house! Pls I need a good advice n procedures to go abt Canada processing. I dnt wanna go thru agents bcuz I believe with the help of the house, I can get things done perfectly on my own. I have read a lot on CIC websites abt necessary instructions but I wud prefer experienced ppl on here to kindly put me thru. I wud lik to apply for study permit (Undergraduate admission). After getting admission frm designated institution, what am I gonna to do next..... I wud lik my application processed thru paper and not online. Does that mean I need to have an account with CIC first??

Please I need someone to guide me thru all these because am new to all these stuffs. I have lots of qustns but I think I need to take things slowly and not by bombarding fellas here with my questions.... Lol.

Looking forward to reading from you soonest. Thanks

@ AriseOCompatrot and coldasice007, I really appreciate what you guyz wrote. I think a lot of peeps on this thread need those words. Quick one, for those already in Canada, how gud is Project Management as a course in terms on job opportunities. Just give the average. @mevi response needed.
Thanks
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by laureek: 12:51am On Jul 03, 2015
Very valid point. I am not against anyone trying though.

Money should NEVER be the reason why someone does not attempt something. It is better to try and fail than to keep wondering whether or not you would have made it if you had tried. If someone gets admission, gets visa, and then manages to get flight ticket, haba...even if he cannot afford first semester tuition, he should by all means GO! If the door opens, by all means walk through it! If you get pushed back, hey, you'll still end up at the same spot you would have been if you didn't take the step, so, nothing spoil.

It is not only by working than people can get money to pay tuition. What if you get a scholarship in the second year? What if you get an idea that you can sell and make a breakthrough? What if someone you meet over there is willing to help you with half a semester's tuition? There are several other ways money can come your way apart from paid employment.

If you don't have money, then you don't have money! But I can bet you that it will be easier to convince someone to borrow you 100k to complete you school fees when you get stranded in Canada, than to convince them to borrow you 1k to feed when you get stranded in Nigeria.

I've used a couple of extreme examples here but my point is this: the race is not to the swift, the battle is not to the strong, and Canadian education is not to those that have the money for it. Time and chance happens to all men. When its your time you better take your chance! [/quote]

It's good but there is no need paying international tuition for the course. All you need to be a project manager is experience and PMP certification. There are lots of pm jobs but they require couple of years experience

My opinion about coming to Canada with/without tuition fees based on my personal experience and that of friends around me (everyone is entitled to his /her opinion though)...

*E no easy for Canada, the country is expensive.

*Professional jobs are not easy to come by immediately after graduation (IT fields are fair though),even the menial jobs sef na wahala esp during winter as there are less sales.

*No one is ready to give you shiishii in this country, you work for every kobo you get.

*Your location matters a lot esp if you're interested in working round the clock.

All things being equal, it's not advisable to go to a foreign land without being prepared in case of worst case scenario... So as not to be stranded and eventually resort to illegal activities.

Hello peeps in the house, I am new here. I got admission in a school in Canada for sept 28th 2015 and my cousin for sept 16th 2015 . We got our letters two weeks ago and we just finished gathering our documents. We intend to submit our application by Mon July 7.2015. Is it possible to get visa for within this period of time? I saw 51weeks on the cic site and one of my friend said the 51weeks processing week is the processing time they use now. She said they started since may and that everybody that apply from may it will take 51weeks to process it. I am confused And worried. Pls your reply is needed Asap. Thank you

Welcome... Good to know you've read a lot on CIC website, now it's the turn of NL.... Try and read parts 5,6, & 7 at least. It'll take you some time but you'll surely smile at the end.

Since you intend to apply through paper route, you do not need to create any account online.

Just gather your documents (from the info you acquired on CIC website and the one you'll get here), ask questions where you need clarifications, apply for your TRV, go for medicals (upon request by CIC), chop your TRV, book your flight, travel to Canada, work hard in your studies when you get here and live happily ever after.

I wish you the best in your application.

Welcome and congrats on your admission...all your worries would have been taken care of had it been you went through at least part 7 of this thread...

Worry not, put in your application, the average processing time is 8 weeks... And since your school is resuming a bit late, you can still make it for fall session. You might possibly be asked for a new start date if the time elapse which is still not a bad deal.. The most important thing is to chop your TRV at the end of the day by God's grace
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by Onyeoma3: 2:43am On Jul 03, 2015
If it is in your heart, pray over it, work hard towards it, God will put it in your hands.

Good news awaits all the TRV awaitees. We shall all smile at the end.

100k is equivalent to almost 600cad, anyone who is ready and willing to borrow you that amount without a specified payback date must be really nice. do you know the number of hours you need to work to earn that much? what if things do not work out as you have planned, what is gonna happen? Onyeoma3 has said it all "it's not advisable to travel to a foreign land without being prepared". I wish y'll good luck in your app, more good news in the house by God's grace.

You guys are missing the point!
He said it's better to come prepared and i agree perfectly.
I was able to get a $11.50 job because of my over 12yrs work experience in Naija at a restaurant.
I could only do 20hrs when school was in session and I have tried to get a better paying job all summer to no avail.
This could be specific to my location but it's the reality.
Thank God for savings set aside before embarking on this path.
It's your call whatever step you wanna take but like realone said, it's not that rosy all the time but it sure has its perks and I know at the end of the day, it will be worth it.

A question posted once is enough in my
opinion......
Stay calm someone that has an answer would rreply you if it deems fit..

You are missing the point. Canada is an expensive country to live in or to study but could be alot easier if you come here with good money in the bank. Simple as ABC. I can't see the correlation between a ''student coming to Canada with good financial standing'' and ''Canada being a tough country to live in/hell on earth, hence for realone01 to come back home''.

It's not even by location, it could have been worse in smaller towns where the $11.50 jobs are reserved for locals. In the best of towns or provinces, students jobs/summer jobs(in between terms) usually pay minimum wage. It's good to always have something to fall back on for the rainy days.
That is why it's best for student to get on programs with co-op streams. The Co-op terms pay above the minimum wage and it also gives good Canadian work experience that would help in securing a good job after graduation.
