I am quite sure that when you see your TRV in one hand and your job offer in the other hand, a still quiet voice would nudge you on which of the two to embrace. Follow that voice and not any Nairaland voice.

However, if you want my advice, my very free, very biased, yet very germane advice, CARRY YOUR KAYA GO CANADA! You will always get another job but you will not always get another TRV. Which brings me back to my very first question...have you gotten your TRV?

Check the second paragraph of my post that you quoted. That carries more weight than the third paragraph. In the final analysis, only she can make the most informed judgement on what career path she should follow. Also, I put a glaring caveat there that my advice was very biased! I'd still give it again and again sha. She threw a very general question and i threw a very general response. If she wants better advice then she'd have to give better details of the situation which I'm sure she won't want to do publicly.Questions like how old she is, what PGD program did she gain admission into, what are her career goals, etc need to be known in order to give a more holistic advice.

Having said that, the biggest pension company in Nigeria is StanbicIBTC Pensions (my sister, if na dia u get work, after you give your first fruit to God, abeg try bring the second fruit to me o!). How much do they pay entry level staff and how much will they be paying her 5 years from now? Now compare that with what you earned on your first job in Canada and what you are earning now (five years later).

Would appreciate it if you could clarify what you mean by career job. She didn't state what she studied in her undergrad so i'm not sure it's safe to conclude that this job is in line with her career goals. She only said it's a good place to start a career. I guess that's tempting enough for her to hold onto as per bird-in-hand. But i also want to pose this teaser...if her credentials are good enough to get her a job with a major company in Nigeria, they are probably good enough to get her a job in a minor company in Canada, which will still give her better options going forward.

My opinion about coming to Canada with/without tuition fees based on my personal experience and that of friends around me (everyone is entitled to his /her opinion though)...

*E no easy for Canada, the country is expensive.

*Professional jobs are not easy to come by immediately after graduation (IT fields are fair though),even the menial jobs sef na wahala esp during winter as there are less sales.

*No one is ready to give you shiishii in this country, you work for every kobo you get.

*Your location matters a lot esp if you're interested in working round the clock.

All things being equal, it's not advisable to go to a foreign land without being prepared in case of worst case scenario... So as not to be stranded and eventually resort to illegal activities.

Welcome... Good to know you've read a lot on CIC website, now it's the turn of NL.... Try and read parts 5,6, & 7 at least. It'll take you some time but you'll surely smile at the end.

Since you intend to apply through paper route, you do not need to create any account online.

Just gather your documents (from the info you acquired on CIC website and the one you'll get here), ask questions where you need clarifications, apply for your TRV, go for medicals (upon request by CIC), chop your TRV, book your flight, travel to Canada, work hard in your studies when you get here and live happily ever after.

I was able to get a $11.50 job because of my over 12yrs work experience in Naija at a restaurant.
I could only do 20hrs when school was in session and I have tried to get a better paying job all summer to no avail.
This could be specific to my location but it's the reality.
Thank God for savings set aside before embarking on this path.
It's your call whatever step you wanna take but like realone said, it's not that rosy all the time but it sure has its perks and I know at the end of the day, it will be worth it.

so no one should come to Canada because it is not easy but i think Nigeria is also not easy as well? have you guys even heard of some of the ridiculous salaries that are paid to Nigerian graduates or guess you obviously did not hear of salaries not being paid to workers for months in some states in Nigeria. please i think a lot of people going to Canada already know you are not going to pick money on the streets of Canada and if some people choose to work in warehouse or wherever even though they are engineers i think it is a decision they made solely on their own so no need to worry about it. you may work in a warehouse today but who knows tomorrow you may get a better paying job. there is nothing wrong with working in a warehouse if you get paid on time and it allows you to pay all your bills without begging for alms from friends and family and you get to keep your dignity and respect as a man or woman. life is not a bed of roses you will definitely encounter challenges be it America, UK, Canada, Australia or anywhere else. if you are fortunate to come from a well to do family then thank your lucky stars because not everyone is that lucky so please allow anyone who wants to go to Canada to go and i believe the average Nigerian is very hardworking except for some who deceive themselves by thinking there is a short cut to success. it is quite funny how you guys think 200K jobs are just lying around in Nigeria and no one wants to do it.enough of the scary tales by moonlight from Canada because i do not see any of you packing your bags to leave Canada in the name of it is not easy.

Hello peeps in the house, I am new here. I got admission in a school in Canada for sept 28th 2015 and my cousin for sept 16th 2015 . We got our letters two weeks ago and we just finished gathering our documents. We intend to submit our application by Mon July 7.2015. Is it possible to get visa for within this period of time? I saw 51weeks on the cic site and one of my friend said the 51weeks processing week is the processing time they use now. She said they started since may and that everybody that apply from may it will take 51weeks to process it. I am confused And worried. Pls your reply is needed Asap. Thank you

I believe all the people encouraging pple to go to canada without tuition are still in Nigeria and that's why they don't get that its not easy.
Pple will now enter after heeding to such advice and end up doing illegal stuff to meet up.

You completely missed the point! Don't go to Canada if you can't afford the fees and maintenance money to start with.

People are saying this in good faith and so that you don't make the same mistake others made and get stucked. Go home you can't because you can't afford the ticket or face the shame and stigma.

If you can afford to pay your fees and maintenance money at leas for a year then give it a go but leaving Nigeria with almost and hoping to work and study to pay fees and bills is beyond madness.
