Basement? In Nigeria? How will you prevent flooding and soaking of the walls when rain water goes down? I think they call it mildew or something.

same question I wanted to ask (especially the soaking/dampness aspect)
I believe it is for personal security reasons but not sure the structure will not be subject to dampness.
I have seen such structures before but the ones I know have at least 1 side of the walls fully exposed to the outside; used for a steep sloping land area.
Glad the op is back though; this thread was highly informative in the past.

Taught I was the only one oh, cause I read about how people leaving abroad battle with Basement flooding.

Rain will not be a problem because will have about 4 feet left before the external wall.FYI , building is on a very dry land.
