I just sent a mail to the Senate President; Dr Bukola Saraki, who happens to be the Senator representing me at the Senate explaining to him our current predicament. It may take sometime, but I'm positive I'll hear back from him. I suggest you guys all do same; write your senators and let them know what is happening to us.

Hello guys, if there is truth in the above quoted statement, I think we should TAKE ACTIONS to counter this "consciously calculated attempt" by involving the news media.
I suggest we send messages to popular newspapers and TVs like punch, thisday, sun, channels tv, etc. If complaints come to them from many people at a time and they are made to clearly see that we have copied many other news media too, our complaint will become newsworthy and I believe we'll have it in national papers and on TV.

Our message should MUST ask that ALL remaining 400+ awardees Who haven't received their second trance be paid.

I think we should try this. I am so positive we will bring the plans of the officials trying to 'Corner' the YouWIN funds to nothing as the whole nation will turn their gaze towards them.

WHAT IS KEEPING OUR FUND?

Have you guys read your agreement letter lately? Government can cancel or modify the youwin grant at anytime. Antagonizing the ministry of finance might backfire so i would advice you allow them conclude their due process. Before you attack me, i am among the 215. We would loose if we try to embarrass the government. During my spot check on Thursday i was expressly told that i should seek alternative means of funding while the ministry of finance take their time. Online aluta will backfire.

The latest info I got as at yesterday is that the YouWIN! secretariat has been ordered to close up shop for now. The president has asked the VP to set-up a committee to evaluate all the job creation and social welfare schemes of the past administration with a view to identifying those that will be continued/improved upon. So let's just put on hold any expectation of payment for now. I hope the secretariat will be professional enough to send us email notifications to that effect. I hope you guyz know that the World bank and DFID only provide technical support and funding for the monitoring aspect of the scheme, the grant itself comes 100% from the FG, so those who think all the funding for the program comes from the world bank are misinformed. It's so sad, but frankly I blame no one but NOI for our predicament. I expected a core professional like her to have ensured all schemes, be it YOUWIN or otherwise she introduced were properly concluded before the expiration of her tenure as minister. A situation where you raise young people's hopes only to leave them quarter way, cos this one is not half way at all is very sad. If she has stuck to the original timelime for YouWIN 3, we wouldn't be in this mess we find ourselves.

Now info I got from a very reliable source (uwin staff in d secretariat) is dat our file has passed tru most of the beaurecratic processes in FMF including something he called the DSA in the office of the permanent secretary which he sed is d most time consuming. When I asked him for a time frame and sugested maybe two weeks from now, he was adamant that it won't take that long. I then jokingly told him we tot they won't pay and he was like how would they pay some and leave others make I reason am naa. Now I believe him cos dis guy is right dere at the secretariat abuja and he also correctly predicted ist batch tranche 2 payment. So guys let's keep praying and Hope GODWINS anytime soon.

Did they call you before coming, or they just showed up at your business premises? What was their response when you told them you had not received tranche 2?

Sorry for the delay in reply. Being out of town. Yes they called a day before and fixed a date. Well when I told them that iahve not been paid 2 tranche, they said not to worry, in due time it will be paid.

Mohammed83, thanks for the letter you sent to the Senate president. He acted on it by Inviting the permanent Secretary of Finance for a briefing. Although the permanent sec is yet to honour the Invitation.

(since we all know the delay is from there, the Secretariat has finished all they are to do with regard to 2nd batch - I still called secretariate today and I was told that) . . WE REALLY NEED SPEEDY INTERVENTION AT THE FMF...

We must do everything we can to ensure all our remaining funds are released. This is a lifetime achievement that comes only once in a life time....I do nt see any convincing sign that d present President is interested in supporting SME's with any form of financial incetives.
