Dear VO,
Thank you very much for your reply . KCC scheduled my interview in the first week of July and notified me of the same . When I showed up at the embassy on the interview date , I was informed that the embassy has rescheduled my interview to late August . I tried to explain that my DV case is charged to an African country that has a limit in the DV and that visas might run out by the time my new scheduled interview is due . This explination was of no use and I was asked to leave and come back in August . They asked me to provide the confirmation number of my sent DS -260 , which I did . Two weeks earlier , I submitted all my supporting documents for their review . I also pointed out that the technical issue with the visa system was resolved before my KCC scheduled interview , still no use .
My concern is that by August , the new scheduled interview , visass for DV2015 will be exhausted . Can the post hold the available visa slot till the new rescheduled appointment ? Or as long as they did not interview me at the exact date scheduled by KCC , this visa slot will be available free back to KCC to use for present ongoing interviews?
Your input will be highly appreciated . Thank you in adavance .

This doesn't sound like something that happened in Lagos. Where are you planning to interview? At any rate, I can't speak for any other post, so I urge you to contact them directly and ask what you need to do.

It does sound like your case is current. Please e-mail us at LagosIVscheduling@state.gov and ask to be scheduled for an interview.

It can take NVC quite a while to respond -- but it wouldn't hurt to e-mail them again.

From my perspective, I was certainly expecting NVC to send us more cases for August. There's still a chance that they will send us more. But at this point, most people who don't have appointments yet should expect to be scheduled in September or later.

Thanks for all your help so far, we(my wife) finally have an appointment date from NVC for Aug 20th at the Lagos consulate. Our 2nd year marriage anniversary is on Aug 15th, so by the interview date we will be beyond 2 yrs of marriage. what do we need to do to change our case from CR1 to IR1 ? The interview date was schedule today so im pretty sure the case file is yet to arrive at the consulate. Here is our case # for reference(LGS2015579046). I do appreciate all that you do.

Thanks! You're right, I don't see that case number in our local system yet. When your wife comes to the interview, she should ask the officer to change her from CR1 to IR1. (Our computers don't have a way of doing that automatically, and our caseload is so large that frankly it's best to remind us to check that sort of thing.) Good luck!

Thanks for a wonderful work here.pls I need some clarity,ma.Early last year myself and wife were interviewed at the consulate for a dv 2014 lottery.My wife being the PA.After a wonderful&interesting interview,to our shock we were denied.But that's in the past now.We are not very clear on the paper given to us by the CO.It reads"this office is unable to issue a visa to you because you have not been able to convince the CO that you have a bonafide spousal relationship.
Now,my Wife will be having our first child anytime soon,and we will want to have a family vacation next year in the US.We want to be sure the meaning of the letter,if we are still qualified for a nonimmigrant visa.We need clarification on the above ,ma.

The DV refusal shouldn't be detrimental, as long as you can show that you have strong ties to Nigeria and intend to return here after your vacation. Good luck to you!

It depends when the original petition was filed. Right now, F3 cases with petitions that were filed on or before March 15, 2004, are eligible to be scheduled for interviews.

Unfortunately I missed my connecting flight from Doha Qatar to Lagos cause the plane sat on runway for 4 hrs waiting for clearance and refueling in Philadelphia US.
Here's my question. Will this affect his interview for not having this information?
Also I provided the i134 form and statements from bank and job to my fiance in April. However, I have copies of income tax records in my luggage which is in the possession of the airline. If I'm not able to get a copy to him by tomorrow will that affect his chances for a visa as well?

Yuck, sorry to hear about your flight delays. No fun. As long as your fiance can talk about you and your relationship, the documentation would only be secondary anyway. I've made a note in his case for the interviewing officer, though.

I went on the website to check status on 7/6 and the status was "REFUSED". I finally got someone to tell me why and turns out all I needed was an updated police report which I obtained and provided on Friday 7/10. I go on and check status on 7/11 and the status is "READY" and has been for four days. What does this mean? I was told I could pick up my visa in a couple days. Can someone please tell me why the status is showing "READY" online for the past four days? I am completely out of my prescription medication for high blood pressure for days. Can someone please let me know what the true status is? I have already been delayed for over a week and my travel is scheduled to leave tomorrow evening. Please I beg, can you help me? Is it the case, as the experience of one contributor on another immigration-related forum suggests, that such is the suspicion with which you view family-based immigrant visa applications in the Lagos consulate that a typical applicant needs to present hundreds of photos (150-200, according to her) documenting shared events, family members, etc., to overcome that suspicion?

The OP on that forum wanted to know if 36 pictures -- which I thought were a lot! -- were sufficient, assuming everything else is in order. The contributor had been previously denied a K-1 based on "insufficient evidence", then reapplied successfully by supplying 200 or so photos. In her experience, it worked: she reports that the first consular officer said her "gut feeling" questioned the bona fides of her relationship, while the second said he could "feel the love" after going through the mountain of pictures!

Hello VO, thanks for the wonderful job you're doing. More power to our elbow. I have some bugging questions I want to ask and I do hope I get an answer.

I'm married to a USC and we got married on May 3rd 2012 @a local govt. Registry in alimosho area of Lagos state. She returned to the states and filed i129f (K 1) on July 7th 2012. The petition was approved on October 30th 2012 and my interview was scheduled for March 19th 2013. I attended the interview with all documents but I was denied. As a matter of fact the date on the refusal letter was predated. It read march 18th.

My wife and I were broken hearted cause our hopes were high, now I know we should have filed for the spousal visa petition. But it was an oversight as we were misinformed at that point in time .then last year again the compnay I was working with wanted to send me to the US for a conference but I was denied the B1/ B2 visa on September 15th 2014. It was later that I discovered that the agent my office employed to fill our DS 160's actually filled single in my form.

Now my wife and I've decided to file for an IR1 since we've been married for more than 2years. I really need your advice as to what our chances would be regarding the pprevious K1 that we errorneously filed. Please I need all the advice I can get as she's filing for the spousal visa next month.

Yes, the visa will still be valid. You'll need to travel with both your old passport and your new one. Changing your name is up to you, but if you do, you should also travel with a copy of your marriage certificate.

The law is the same from post to post, but the procedures vary. For instance, a post that has a very large volume of Diversity Visa cases probably has a very strict policy about rescheduling, whereas a post with only a few cases can afford to be more flexible.

Different cases are affected by our technical problems in different ways. I know it's hard to wait, but please be patient -- NVC will schedule your case for an interview as soon as it can.

Your case is being processed. Some cases take slightly longer than others to be processed. This is why we advise all applicants to never, ever buy tickets until their visas have been printed and delivered. I hope you'll have good news very soon.

I am posting on behalf of my wife (Yeah, the husband is taking over now... ). We had earlier mentioned about us requesting expeditious processing of our case being an active duty military servicemember. I called NVC today to ask about it and the customer representative told me the request was probably rejected by you guys in Lagos. I am just really sad that we're being tossed up and down over a simple request (I have requested expedited service twice now).

It's unfortunate I have not been able to follow our case more closely due to my engagement in military trainings over the past 12 months. Other servicemembers I know get their spouses over here as early as 6 months or less after filing their I-130s. Ours is already 1 year, still with no interview date.

I don't even know what to do with my tax situation since I filed an extension hoping she'd get here before the Oct 15 deadline so I can file as "married filing jointly". I would be eternally grateful to you if you can help us. Our case number is LGS2015547024. Thank you!
