The truth is dat, 70percent of nigerian youth want to start a bizness but there is no capital and enabling environment. It takes the grace of God to survive in dis country even wen u hav d capital. Dont blame nigerian youth cuz most just want to get a start up capital b4 dey can venture into any biz. By so doing, they need to do d white collar job first b4 they finally settle down to start their own bizness.

Nice summary. I used to have a white collar job. As i type, i am wearing a tie but strangely i have not worn one in months. I don't know if we should blame the graduates, the educational system or the old horses like us. we should have paved the way for the new ones but we all look for WCJs. I think there was a time it was lucrative but that time has passed and we failed to adjust. I have also been engrossed in it even though i sensed its time was up. Trying new things require a lot of practice and experienced mentors. The mentors are pretty much lacking.

I have been doing some research on agric and my conclusion is that it is whiter than the whitest collar job.
I hope others look along the value chain and take a decision.

Government policies are not helping matters for young business people. We always say business for the youth. Anyone with business idea that can be started with capital ranging from 400k - 800k should educate people here not those ones with e-book or send me private mail. Thanks

I have try so hard to raise money in order to export it to Lagos but to no avail.

They are valid. I have to say he hit the nail on the head. Of What use is education where petty trade sells more? Look at our igbo brothers that spend 7yrs serving their masters does it better than the educated ones and you say it's pointless.

1. Employment is based on certificate - our Nigerian parents believes certificate is the only way out. And so we the students too. 18years of schoolin na beans? 6-6-4-2!!!
2. Youths are not innovative - i ask U; the Nigerian man who discovered HIV drugs where is he today?(Dr Jeremiah Abalaka) The students who make car running on batteries where are they today? Despite publications on media for government to cheer them Up.
3. Luxury - U are only recognized when you command respect not witj your MSC still riding okada or napep.
4. Respect given by the society - U nailed it.
5. Financial packages - I know of a guy who got a job with an oil company and rides on big wheels within 3 months. Your savings from those WCjs can aid your personal savings and set up a personal business. Reasons why everyone admires the packages.
6. Some parents insist WCJ job- when you become a parent u might understand their angle of view.
7. Unfavorable economy - which is the reason why we discussing this long story. If its taken care of, we might be discussing another productive topic.
u nailed it bro .......

I am tempted to ask you if the person who wrote this is in Nigeria or even in 2015. This may have been the case 5-10 years ago but not anymore.
There is barely any serious employer who cares about the job seeker's certificate. Employers are interested in results, achievements and the likes.

P.S The above is in response to points 1&2 especially point 1.

Cheers.
