I suspect even the state governors overtime. It's possible that they declare the small amount they announce as IGR so as to make people believe that the govt don't have much money to run the state. Just imagine a case where the state gov declares say 6bn naira as the monthly IGR, people will begin to ask what the money is being used for.

I knew from the beginning that should Buhari decide to probe money laundering in the past administration that there was no way Mr Obi will escape being named as the specialist banker in most of those transactions. Now that Madam Iwela, Dieziani and the rest are negotiating their way out through cooperating with the Buhari Crew. Veteran Nollywood Actor Pete Edochie Commends Gov. Willie Obiano For His Strides In Repositioning the Media and Entertainment Sectors In Anambra State.
Veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Pete Edochie has commanded the Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano for his giant strides in repositioning the media and entertainment sectors in the state.

He made the commendation when he paid the Governor a courtesy visit accompanied by the Managing Director and CEO of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Uche Nworah. Chief Edochie praised the governor for investing in digital broadcast equipments in the state broadcasting organisation as well as introducing other measures aimed at improving the picture clarity and reach of the radio and TV station.

He said that the governor has demonstrated that he is a friend of the entertainment sector by appointing known practitioners from the state including Bob-Manuel Udokwu and Chido Obidiegwu as his assistants and promised that on their part, entertainment practitioners from Anambra state will always support his government and will use their various movie roles and other platforms to promote Anambra state.

While welcoming the Nollywood veteran, the Governor praised Chief Edochie for making Anambra state and indeed Nigeria proud through his professional conduct on and off the screen. He urged him to always be a proud ambassador of Brand Anambra.

Chief Edochie later presented a painting of the governor to His Excellency.

Since I started these tasks, Harbour industrial layout is the area that shooked me, I'm still short of words till this moment I never anticipated I will see site like that in Anambra, I have spent years in Lagos before I relocated late last year ever since then I've been trying my best to explore Anambra state, I will repeat again Anambra is lacking behind in media coverage, I believe what gave Lag edge to Anambra are Federal infrastructures, Sea port, international airport, and administrative head offices, Harbour is just one out of many industrial area in Anambra, they are other areas like Ogbunike/Ogidi, Obosi/Nkpor, Nnewi, Agu Awka, Ozubulu also trying to join, I explored Harbour I was very impressed, good road network and power station and trucks garage, Harbour industrial Layout Onitsha is just industries and companies residential areas (RA), They are more than 150 industries both large and medium in Harbour area and Ogbaru LGA, I took lots of pictures, i couldn't cover all, some areas their security men didn't allow me.

OBIANO OPENS UP OGBUNIKE CAVES


Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano said he will open up the ancient Ogbunike caves for tourism development and revenue generation. The governor said this in Awka at a one-day workshop for stakeholders on tourism in the state organised by the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC).

A statement by the NTDC quoted the governor as saying: “Ogbunike Caves has 11 entrances, but only one has been explored. We shall open up other entrances to the unique tourist site, build a 5-star hotel and a game centre, among other world standard facilities around the site.”

Ogbunike Caves is a tourist destination located in Oyi local government of the state. Obiano also said the state is ready to support NTDC’s Green City project, to ensure its success in the state.
“The Green City project is a viable catalyst to creating employment in the state and the country at large and also ensure a clean environment,” he said.

Speaking on the project, the NTDC boss, Sally Mbanefo said it is designed to deliver the Green City initiative as a differentiating platform for Nigeria’s Eco-tourism credentials with features, such as: a bio-fuel refinery for conversion of waste to wealth, demonstration farms, botanical gardens, hotels, housing estate, sports facilities, industrial parks, solar farms, water parks and health malls.

But my pain is that individuals are doing what government is suppose to be doing, you see landlords sandfilling their streets, buying electric wires and poles to make sure light got to their homes.
My dad was responsible for all the sandfills on our streets as back as 1994 when we were developing our land at Iyiowa behind Ideke Girls, he bought wooden poles and cables to make sure electric light got to our house which took 5 wooden poles and more 1440 ft of electric cable from the mainroad to our home the 8th plot from the mainroad.

The reason why am pained over the development is that when I got to Nsugbe the dude I visited was telling me how they are contributing to make sure there is light in the area. I saw the wooden poles they bought and huge coil of cable wire yet they need to bribe EEDC officials for those things to be fixed.
He told me the landlord was responsible for the street sandfilling.

Our government is not trying at all, this is not just Anambra peculiar problem but a generic Nigeria ineptitude.

Anambra State should be proactive, the scene of the tanker disaster is still like that months after the ugly even, beggars and hawkers have taken over the pedestrian bridge at Uga Junction, what is our government actually doing about street begging

When Northern states that are home of beggars are banning it, the beggars are finding their ways to East in a very disturbing ways.

Why is it difficult for Anambra State government to say no and mean it

Moore Street, Okwei, Iweka, Sanniez, Venn Road etc have been turn to market places and parking lots for traders who built houses without space for parking of cars.

Am sad to conclude that Anambra State government is weak and lack foresight.

Visit Niger Street and see what sand dredgers have turned the road to, just visit this street and see what is happening under this and previous administrations.

As a follow up to the Golden league, the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) will be hosting the 2015 Warri Relays and the Grand Prix meet on the 24th July 2015 in Warri.

Anambra State elite athletes will attend this epic event. The elite athletes will be fully kitted in Anambra state colours- Gold and Black.

In line with Governor Willie Obiano’s vision in sports- Restoration of Excellence in Anambra Sports, he approved training grants for Ndi Anambra athletes in April 2015, some of the beneficiaries are already in Europe training and competing.

They are: Obinna Metu 100m; Amaka Ogoegbunam 400m Hurdles; Patrick Chiedu Ike 100m; Peter Emelike 100m.

The outcome of the training tour have produced a lot of decent resultant performances even though, these elite athletes are just mid-way through the 3months training program in Germany.

This performance has automatically qualified her for the World Championship in Beijing China and the 11th All African games in Congo Brazzaville. Amaka is ready to defend her title at The Grand Prix next week and also at All Nigeria Championship afterwards.

His personal best is 10.21sec. On June 18th he ran 10.32 sec in 100m and 21, 20 sec in 200m



These elite athletes will be returning from Europe.

To take part in the competition, additional athletes from the Golden League series, will be joining the elite athletes to wear Anambra Colours for the Sprint relay at the Warri Relay meet.

Innocent Egbunike will be the coordinating coach for the Anambra State athletes at the Grand Prix. This will be the first time, the state is bringing together the core State Athletics team in preparation for the National Sports Festival which will take place anytime soon.

On the 11th June 2015, the first Golden League completion was sponsored by Anambra State Government and held at the New Olympic Standard Tartan Track, Rojenny sports complex Oba. The Olympic Tartan Track was also commissioned the same day by His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano. The facility was built as a PPP.
