Teempakguy:Chai! Too much science, you need to dabble a little reality. Isn't emotion subjective again? |

And I thought I was alone in this.Even though I have lots of female friends,I have not had up to 5% feelings for any girl in the past 3 years. It sometimes pains me as I don't bother myself to chase any girl.It just sucks. |

| Re: Is It Natural To Have No Feelings? by herald9: 8:42pm On Jul 17, 2015 |
Teempakguy:This is true. The problem here is contextual. synonyms for emotions are affection and feeling. Dude says he has feelings/affection for girls but this feeling/affection can't lead him to or sustain him in a relationship. It breaks off at some point. It doesn't mean he is emotionless, as he loves other things in life. This particular emotion is based on male to female relationship and doesn't extend further. So you went extreme in your analysis. Besides, science is how I understand reality. Not everything in reality can undergo the stringent rule of science. Reality is subjective, it depends on an individual observations. Its based on your senses, feelings and touch. Trying to use science to explain everything in reality makes you a scientific robot, instead of helping people you'll end up being alienated to them. |

herald9:then he would have made things a lot easier by simply using "romantic feelings" Not everything in reality can undergo the stringent rule of science. Reality is subjective, it depends on an individual observations. Its based on your senses, feelings and touch. Trying to use science to explain everything in reality makes you a scientific robot, instead of helping people you'll end up being alienated to them.I cannot help it. ![]() I am used to viewing things as consequences of laws and principles. I constantly seek to be objective. |

what you're describing is ahedonia, not so? Inability to feel pleasure. This can be a symptom of mental illness. People should beware of what they agree with on this forum, some threads are designed simply for a bandwagon effect. and entrapment. Lord have mercy. |

Yes there people dat cant feel emotions. They are know as sociopaths, or psychopaths. They lack receptors in the brain that cause empathy. Basically, they're a human shell with no human soul. Most of the murderers, dictators and rapists in the world are sociopaths or psychopaths. There is no therapy or medication to treat these people, unfortunately. Exodus - Autistic people do have an emotional system. They just have a hard time learning how to express it, and understanding social cues that most people do. J.P. - You're wrong. I've studied psychopathy at length, and observed them. Teaching them how to hide their lack of moral reasoning and emotion is not the same as treating them. Treating them would be making them understand morality and emotion, and thus they feel drawn to behave ethically. This is not possible with any know therapy or medication at this time. It is impossible to treat them. Think about it - in order for therapy to work, the person in therapy must recognize that they need help, and they must desire to improve themselves. But a sociopath is incapable of feeling bad about anything they do. They do not feel love or guilt or shame or any of the things that would drive someone to seek help. So, how do you help someone who is not driven to improve themselves? The answer is: You can't. All you can do is teach them to hide it. But because they do not have any reason not to act out (since they feel no guilt), it will not stop them from doing harmful things. All it will do is help them fool people temporarily. Alexithymia is not a lack of emotion. It's a processing problem, where the link between felt emotion and comprehension of emotion is broken. But you do FEEL emotion, even if you don't understand it or know how to describe it. Sociopaths and psychopaths do not feel any emotion. And the reason they often hurt or kill others is because an adrenaline rush is the only rush they can feel. J.P. Now we're just talking about degrees. Only a small percentage of people with sociopathic tendencies are true sociopaths. A true sociopath does not feel emotion. They do not react in any way to images which are happy, sad, or any other emotional description. They ONLY react to violent or spectacular images, which cause adrenaline spikes. This is the extent of their understanding of emotion. Don't condescend. You're conflated 2 unrelated disorders which are fundamentally different in how they effect people. Maybe you're the one who needs to go back to the drawing board. I'm not bickering on this anymore. I was a profiler - I've met more sociopaths in a few years than most people would meet if they lived to be 200 years old i copied it from somwere |
