One point can never be underestimated....Distinction can be bought in naija university with reasonable price offer. This person knows what he /she was talking about. Naija for u....! Anything goes.

Op Yes it is true Most First Class graduates in Nigeria are engineers. I
made First Class in Engineering so I understand.

But the reason why we have alot of First Class in engineering is
not because engineering is easy. Engineering is tough. It require
alot of hardwork.

The reason for d many first class is simple. it is because of the
kind of students that mostly sturdy engineering in Nigeria.

It is a known fact that majority of the smartest, brilliant and
intelligent students in Secondary Schools chose science class
over art and social science.

And Most of the brilliant students in Science either choose
Medicine or engineering in JAMB.

So we can clearly say most of the best brain in Nigeria study
medicine and Engineering. because of Medicine grading system, u
dont hear of First class doctors.

But because engineering is graded like every other course in d
University, most first class are from Engineering.

In summary, the reason why First Class is common in s courses
you listed, has nothing to do with d courses but rather with the kind
of students that study d courses

Dear OP, you must be a comedian ,I guess. It may be easy to make first class in these courses in you own school, not in OAU. Verily verily I say unto you, you will have to read from here to Jamaica even to make 2:1. "Lasan lo rope a won Adan n dori kodo logba abi..." Even the school self tire those bats, dem dey hala say " ha! Ogba yi le".

you forgot to add Geology... In BBF, e no easy o o o. Even Law has recorded a single 1st class since its inception, Pol Science (non yet)...
In Unilorin, these courses do produce 1st-class well enough almost every year; Statistics, Mathematics, Agric, Engineering.

so your course been hard is something to be proud of. Na bad system and lecturers dey Mk school hard. In Uniben engr produce more first class. one session a dept produced more than ten in engr

It's not something i'm proud of. The academic enviroment is not good for learning in most of our universities. Lecturers are also not helping. I still believe an average engineering student can have a very high cpga abroad.

4.... Philosophy
5.... Sociology
6.... Public administration
7.... Geology
8.... Yoruba

Now note people also do fail but am just saying this courses are quite easy to get a first class in with the being hardworking...dont be lazy

Just remove philosophy from the list. It is almost impossible to get first class in philosophy. Have you heard of any body that got first class in it? I know it is quite easy for people to make first class in elect elect- electrical/electronic engr.

Elect/Elect Engr is relatively easy to bag a First Class depending on the school. I graduated with a GPA above 4.0, I probably would have made a First if not for the borrowed courses we did in our 2nd and 3rd year.

The course "EEE" is easy and sweet; depending on the school though.

You are simply not a first class material. Above 4.0 and above 4.5 are very wide margin. Don't come here to patronize us with your GP... if you are not a first-class material, you are not.

EE is easy but you couldn't hit 4.9. You can only say something is easy when you get to the top in the field. It was hard for you bro.

yeah...most people think comp sci is only about computer tricks and basic programming. They don't know about the complex maths involved. I saw one mad man on nl who said he can study biochemistry and comp sci simultaneously and come out with a 1st class in comp sci.

I beg to differ. The Geosciences(Geology & Geophysics) are not easy courses at all. It shouldnt be on that list. Even Mass Communication shouldnt be there. Economics SHOULD be on that List. Effort put into Economics cant be compared to Geosciences & Engineering.

Op.You are very confuse.I think you alone reasons that way.No course is easy. Its hardwork, dedication and commitment that births excellent results in these courses you mentioned. Even at that, that you studied hard and worked very hard in a course still doesn't guarantee First Class results.Next time carry your confuse opinion that cannot be backed with empirical evidence and dump it in your fathers house. Dont come to Nairaland and advertise the abundance of your ignorance.
Oh Engineering is easy.Let you or any member of your family come and get the first class let me see how truly easy it is.
