@ MarvellousGod

Am finding it difficult cramming all those information into a one page letter please. Can you give a condensed or summarised synopsis of the key details that should be present in the letter? Again, a plain A4 paper and a full scap sheet, which is preferable?

I submitted my CV with application letter yesterday for the first time and I included almost all of the points you highlighted in my application letter. But I wrote the application letter with my pen on an A4 paper (not typed), hope this won't backfire @ me?
I really can't say, depends on the company's policy. ..

"The covering letter puts flesh on the bare bones of the CV. It points out to the employer the information showing that you have the qualities the job calls for, and makes a statement about yourself and your suitability for the job. It should give the personal touch that your CV will intrinsically lack."....

In other words, tell them why you'll be a great asset to their company. .
Don't exceed a page before it turns to essay writing grin

Try to keep everything short but with valid points, for eg in writing about the company, 'you can just say you're familiar with the company's excellent reputation at so so because you have always followed up with so so'.. and that's it for that.....

You'll see good Cover letter templates online written by experts, from there you can write yours....

An A4 paper is preferable. .

PS: I'm not an HR expert as I have never worked in an HR department. . I'm just giving you my opinions based on my experiences. ..

All the best.....

I'm not an expert but I will tell you what I think. ..

In addition to your Cv and credentials, it will be nice you add an application letter or cover letter . The letter should be addressed to the HR manager of the company in question(This is what should be written behind the envelopes too).
In the letter, emphasise your skills, experiences and achievements, what you look to achieve for the company, a little about what you know about the company (kinda praising them), most importantly tailor the letter to suit what you think the company wants or their core values(you can get this from their websites).... if you've any business idea for the company, give a glimpse of it hoping they call you to hear the full gist cheesy cheesy

Remember the letter should be peculiar to each company.

Above all, pray they get to go through your application because a lot end up in the trash bin. Also pray to find favour in the eyes of the gatemen.. Don't worry, you'll be lucky ok? wink cheesy

You can also submit your CVs online to companies.

Be encouraged, getting employment no easy for Naija. But there's light at the end of the tunnel. . I really wish you the best smiley smiley

*If I remember anything, I will come back and edit*

Well said madam. Where your office dey, make I come meet u for more CV packaging advice.

The followings should be arranged and stapled together sequentially:

1. Application/cover letter
2. Curriculum Vitae
3. Photocopies of credentials

Goodluck.

God bless you plenty. One last question please. Do I create a margin on the left hand side of the A4 paper befor I start writing?

Write in full block style, it doesn't require margins.

I would also suggest in your letter writing to use the british style of writing, do not write your name on the left top of the letter b4 your address ,if you begin your letter with HR's name, try to end it using 'Your sincerely' but if not 'Yours faithfully' then while making your CV, be constructive and straight, preferably you start your achievements from present to the the past. Enclose a copy of your CV, letter, and credentials. You need to get these docs typed instead of hand written.

The Microsoft Word is better and more preferred than the PDF file. This is not only for the benefit of the employer but for the applicant as well. Most Applicant Tracking Systems/Softwares (at least the modern ones) may not be able to read the PDF files and old versions of the MS Word.

So play safe; send in MS Word.

I believe that the best and safest solution is to turn to special companies that deal with quality career counseling coaching services and they can help you do everything to the maximum level and be accepted at the job you want.
Now such companies are really popular because people realize that they alone will not be able to do everything perfectly and the chances are lower already. Many make the mistake of thinking that the resume is not important and this is the thing for which they fail to get to the desired thing.
