It's not always about looks, sometimes casting directors look for something specific when actors audition for roles it could be height, age, charisma, tone of voice, the way the actor interprets the character and acting ability , actors have to have a sense of humour comedic timing in case of casting a sitcom not all actors have the versatility that Vikram has and it's up to them (casting director's) figure out which actor is best for which role.

Omg Karan is totally a psychopath. When we first saw him he gathered chicken in pouring rain for 5mins dancing and kissing them too. Then he stucked Laxmi ever since for the sins of her father.
He may eventually fall in love with Laxmi but that won't help him when Laxmi discovers what he doing.
