Sure they should protest. Is Niger - Delta region only to be milked off oil with no related industry situated there?

Its unjust really. How many industry apart from rigs to suck off oil have been situated in this regions Yet its the region producing the bulk of Nigerian wealth.

It is criminal pillage of biafran resources to site a ship yard in badagry and come to shout one nigeria

After building it in badagry, they should use the ship to carry coconut water

The SS youth are doing one thing, in every situation why do they restore to threat, if any thing happen, the next thing you heard from them is to shut down oil facilities,

am sure NLNG will have done their visibility study very well and assess it as well, with the threat from Tompolo, Asari and the likes, if they build and you guys shut down the facility and hinder them from operating,
someone is running at loss,

hence the need to build and operate in a safer environment, yet you guys still go there to threating them again.

you guys should think twice before doing all this things, it not helping this nation at all.

and aside that, on a neutral level, you don't expect a profit making company to put all their egg in one basket,

all their operating companies cant be in one location, God forbid bad thing,
what if something happen tomorrow, that is all the operating company that make up NLNG will go down in one day.

hence the need to spread

How can we solve the tribal roars permanently, if not to separate? This tribal thing is embedded right inside our heads and can't be cured , except you are suggesting total brain wipe. We are all hausa , igbo, yoruba before we are Nigeria, and that is the problem.

Its funny though that many of the oil agencies are headquartered outside the Niger Delta. We even have a refinery in Kaduna. If the NLNG has been a private ish, I won't complain. But a government agency taking its shipyard away from its base of operations is weird to me.

It looks wired but in all sincerity it is not.

The company is being wise in terms of its security. Instead of the ijaw youth to negotiate on how to join hands with the government security forces to provide security for the companies, they are threatening.

So after threatening them you expect them to still go ahead and stay.

I don't know why these people are just not wise at all.

when the oil dries up the rest of nigeria would have to reciprocate the love once showed by the niger deltan by letting us share with them in the proceeds of their mineral/other resources...

so after this long while of bleeding the niger delta dry you think we wont come around to enjoy with the other regions?

The reason is very simple, they are tired of the threats.
The Niger delta as a region is not investment friendly same as the north east of Nigeria.
the Niger delta is not investment friendly? grin grin...why don't they move their gas plant to Lagos too.

Lagos did not take it, it was brought to Lagos. This is what you get when you create an enabling environment for growth and development. Take it or leave it, Lagos is the most investor-friendly state in Nigeria. Why do you think Dangote chose to build his refinery in Lagos and not the Niger Delta? Did you bother to find out why the project was not moved to any Southeastern state? Keep hating, Lagos will keep growing. Eko oni baje!

....and Lagos as a former federal capital was built with money from OIL.

Oh u think anything thats as to do with Niger delta the Yoruba must have hand in it why will u ppl continue criticise and antagonisize against the Oduas, why dont u take ur time to find out the roots why they are shifting it to Rivers before concluding.moreover since it has been in rivers of what benefits as it contribute to their communitues,u bragging here have u heard of any development so far it has been there.they still have nothing to show for it.No matter what Oduas is blessed abundantly with countless resources.take it or leave it Lagos is still the heart of Nigeria....
Hmmm I knew a Yoruba must have a hand in this new development. They have since been trying to bring NLNG back ever since they moved their headquarters from Lagos back to rivers. Hmm.

I hope the youths in that meeting think twice in what they are doing. NLNG have been one of the good guys. They understand the plight of SS individuals therefore, I'm sure if they went and spoke to am in a calm voice rather that threaten like they doing now NLNG will very likely listen to them. Right now, their threats would present the opposite result. [/quote]

That is Lagos for you always taken whatever that should not belong to them and tomorrow they will claim state with highest IGR and employement. In the same vain that Kano and Kaduna warehousing imported goods when the real businessman/importers are men from the South check the distance/routes and our map. Reaping where you did not sow Nigeria biggest problem economical. Infact, if those plunder tribes can they would have naturely relocated all oil wells to Lagos and Kaduna. This is unhealthy capital flight to our national development. And which year will the thieves and the owners be at peace?

Badagry is an excellent area to build this as it is closer to the Apapa port where major shipment are carried out and it it also a peaceful area unlike the south south region that is prone to unrest and violence. The Federal Government is just trying to reduce the extent of blackmail by the Niger-Delta militants. The lesser the facilities they have the lesser things to blow up.

Where does it rightly belong?? The most active port in Nigeria are the Lagos ports.

Any sensible business person who wants to build a yard where ships will be serviced and repaired will automatically consider Lagos before any other place. It is a strategic business decision and not mundane ethnic sentimentalism.

Investors consider many things before siting their projects in an area of choice. The govt can only advise them to consider relocating it. They can't force them. And if they do, it will affect foreign investor inflows into the country.

We do know the roots. Sorry but your bros have since been trying to push NLNG company back to Lagos. Even when they first suggested to move from Lagos to rivers, it was obasanjo that deliberately frustrated then in order to force them to stay.
You say what benefits will it contribute to river state? Are you serious? It brought jobs therefore decrease in unemployment and poverty as well as increase in income to the state. It's the same reason your bro wants to move their investment back to Lagos.

If Lagos is the heart of Nigeria, okay, why are you trying to take the little others have?

Is Lagos the only city Nigerians lives? Why not take it to Akwa Ibom too. Dangote refinary i guess is in Ondo state. I mean Lagos have everything but the experts that drill the oil reside in the Niger Delta states, so whats wrong in having the shipyard where the real raw materials/resource can be effectively supervisor and management to save cost too. We all known little about industrialization of industries. Lagos and co plotters cannot sit all the time on other cities and expect Nigeria to be peaceful.

Niger Delta. Rather than form alliances, lobby and negotiate till they get a foothold in the scheme of things, they rather threaten and give ultimatums.

Brain power truly is king.

You are right. But the decision is still that of the investors to make. They are the ones putting their money on the line, about 1.5billion dollars.

And they would have done an extensive risk assessment before making their decision on a location.

With such a magnitude of investment, the govt cannot by fiat dictate a location where they MUST site their project. It will be counter productive.

Govt can only advise.

The same thing with Bonny Island and Ooni seaport. They both over qualify because that is where the NLNG working environment and 80% gas deposit production dwells and such will save cost and logistics general. It only in Nigeria some experts have no sense. I dnt have access to oil but the right things must be done peacfully.
