What is hate in the issue we re talking about here. Infact it is u that has been demonstrating hate from d onset.

And why re u talking like an illiterate. Where did u get it from, that a ship yard services only oil and gas industry.

The issue is not who owns d project but who d beneficiary is. NLNG is the beneficiary of the project hence the ND oil is the primary resources. Let Samsung nd hyundai set up their project in the ND region, it won't stop all business. It's oil, people will cum from wherever they are to do oil business irrespective of the location. Check out diamond business na. Meanwhile, ure also spreading development across the nation. Not just Lagos, Lagos, Abuja Abuja,.

Correction, NLNG is one of the beneficiaries, and not the sole beneficiary. The ship yard will not service only the oil and gas sector. Why do u guys find it so hard to see that. Infact it will service the entire West African shipping industry.

I don't think there is big deal if NLNG decide to shift base to somewhere else rather than the Niger Delta region.
They must have a cogent reason for planning to do that, if truly the decision had been concluded.
However, the Niger Delta youth should learn how to approach issues like this in a proper and legitimate(consultational)way, rather than treating this country Nigeria with war, anarchy and all sort of social malady which are detrimental to the growth and development of this country as a whole and human existent at large.

The SS youth are doing one thing, in every situation why do they restore to threat, if any thing happen, the next thing you heard from them is to shut down oil facilities,

am sure NLNG will have done their visibility study very well and assess it as well, with the threat from Tompolo, Asari and the likes, if they build and you guys shut down the facility and hinder them from operating,
someone is running at loss,

hence the need to build and operate in a safer environment, yet you guys still go there to threating them again.

you guys should think twice before doing all this things, it not helping this nation at all.

and aside that, on a neutral level, you don't expect a profit making company to put all their egg in one basket,

all their operating companies cant be in one location, God forbid bad thing,
what if something happen tomorrow, that is all the operating company that make up NLNG will go down in one day.

hence the need to spread

So must it be Lagos?
Why not calabar ?

this is not about tribalism, it's about opportunity and common sense, what is the sense in building a seaport in the city with the most seaports in the nation...taking jobs away from those who need it and are the bane if your buisness to somewhere else, it is just ridiculous and an insult to host communities.

am not surprise even mobil plc has its headquaters in Lagos, but theres no iota of oil in Lagos..
How will the country develop where all the corporate headquarters are all located in Lagos thanks to the monster called 'TRIBALISM' where a person from another tribe wont want anything good to go to another tribe...

Its funny though that many of the oil agencies are
headquartered outside the Niger Delta. We even
have a refinery in Kaduna. If the NLNG has been a private ish, I won't complain. But a government

I let's stay on topic! This is about a shipyard where ships that transport liquefied gas will be built, repaired, maintained, etc and it should be built in the nigeria delta. Home of all the gas plants, oil rigs and oil terminals, the federal government of nigeria should invest or seek partners to develop it's ports and not encourage injustice. There is no single argument to justify this. Bonny island even has a better access to the Atlantic than lagos so what is this apart from a calculated attempt to rip off niger delta's of their jobs. It should be noted that all this is happening when the first batch of maritime academy students trained in the jonathan administration revamped maritime academy in warri are to graduate. This will not stand.

Point of correction.

This is about a shipyard where ships will be built, repaired, maintained. Simple

You sit your ass on nairaland and you are trying to define business for the owners of the business. You guys are unbelievable.

Where on earth does a ship yard limit itself to servicing only the oil and gas industry, when there is money to be made from other sources.

There are better ways to draw investors to your region other than unnecessary arm twisting.

Lagos has some obvious advantages which draws investors to it. And asides that, they are massively leveraging on these advantages.

Lagos is building a very expensive world class Lagos Badagry expressway complete with train transportation, and u guys are lamenting that the Badagry area is attracting investors. Apart from this multi-billion ship yard,

Dangote is also building his refinery in Badagry. A multi-billion dollar investment as well. The biggest refinery in Africa.

Apart from the Badagry area, Lagos has also invested massively in the Lekki area and the place is also attracting investors. Infact, a port is also proposed for the place including an airport. One cannot imagine the investment that will follow all these.

Lagos is building an artificial city in VI and it is also generating massive interest. Already, a company has indicated interest in building an oil rig fabricating yard in Takwa Bay very close by. This project also generated a lot of uproar when GEJ tried to use executive power to relocate the project to Bayelsa.

Lagos is thinking ahead and leveraging on it's obvious advantages. Let other states too use their head.

This is not a military era, let investors site their project wherever they feel it will optimally serve the interest of their business.

you are very funny. You are here screaming it will not stand, when some other productive people has already done interview for the project and will be commencing training any moment from now.

What is the problem with a refinery in Kaduna?

Is it not to refine petroleum products for consumption by users in that region?
Do you expect tankers to be transporting from the South to the North? Or you think it is safer and cheaper to transport the individual volatile fractions individually after refining in the South?

Concerning the belaboured topic, it is the private investment of an individual Nigerian. The NLNG is only an interested investor. The primary investor will site his project wherever he so desires, considering his investment outlook is even beyond the Nigerian market.
the kaduna refinery is state of the art.......it was never meant to be that way.......the purpose of that refinery was change by a so called elder statesman who has been walking around as a demi god.......transporting with tankers had nothing to do with it.......the kaduna refinery was not a viable venture

Nigeria has since starved the chicken that lays the golden egg in order to feed the barren chicken.

You spoke like a Yoruba. Yoruba make economic gains from oil and gas more than the old southeast region where oil and gas are mostly found.

Difident Yoruba now employ all sorts of threats and blackmail to keep one Nigeria, a country where the chicken that lays the golden egg is starved to feed the barren chicken.

When ever people talk about new Biafra, Yoruba is the first in line to insult the people talking about Biafra. Because Yoruba believe that if Biafra goes, other south south groups may either form new country or countries or even join Biafra.

In any discourse about Biafra, Yoruba must be the first to comment that Biafra is landlocked, that Biafra must not contain the south south, Yoruba can even tell that others in the south south love Fulani more than the Igbo. All in divide-and-rule efforts.

Is Lagos the only city Nigerians lives? Why not take it to Akwa Ibom too. Dangote refinary i guess is in Ondo state. I mean Lagos have everything but the experts that drill the oil reside in the Niger Delta states, so whats wrong in having the shipyard where the real raw materials/resource can be effectively supervisor and management to save cost too. We all known little about industrialization of industries. Lagos and co plotters cannot sit all the time on other cities and expect Nigeria to be peaceful.

Dangote has changed his mind and now building it in Badagry. And I have not seen Ondo people spitting fire because of this, Moreso since it is not an Ondo state govt project.

The company is being wise in terms of its security. Instead of the ijaw youth to negotiate on how to join hands with the government security forces to provide security for the companies, they are threatening.

So after threatening them you expect them to still go ahead and stay.

I don't know why these people are just not wise at all.

This is nonsense, if they're that concerned about their security, let them focus on drilling oil off Lagos' coast.
