Good Day All, thanks for this platform, I would like some advice on what steps my wife can take if she has been denied a TRV solely on the ground of inadequate travel history? They said that they are not convinced she will return to Nigeria at the time she said she would and the only factor on which she was denied was travel history (she has only ever been to Ghana once, last year) - is there anything we can do? There was no issue as regarding funding. Replies will be most welcome, thanks in advance.

For English Speaking Country like Nigeria, what is required is the minimum ENglish C6 in Secondary School leaving Cert.

Godymn:

Ok, thanks for the response.

But on their website, it stated that we need to prove the English proficiency. So, how did you go about scaling through that bridge when they ask?

I doubt that all Canadian universities require a GMAT/GRE for your field, regardless of what that field is. Nevertheless you have chosen to go the PGD route, so to your questions:

1) No. Your application is judged on its overall merit. The only specified condition is that you're admitted into a Designated Learning Institution.
2) It depends on your institution. If this is a part of their requirement, you would be instructed to do so and probably wouldn't need to ask.
3) They are generally the same. If you've received both from your institution, the one that says something along the lines of, "...We are pleased to offer you admission into so and so program..." is the one you want to include in your application.
4) Your tuition plus other fees and then some.

Thank you Serasera, I am well pleased with the breakdown. God bless

Like Fhemmy said, you dontt need to bother yourself with something so flimsy. Some Canadian employers even prefer college degrees because they believe they give more hands-on experience. You have nothing to worry about, just do your best and leave the rest
Godymn:

I understand where your coming from Don Fhemmmy,

But here is what is on my head, before one can be called for any job interview, your CV will go a long way. So, when they see you have a degree from a College, wont they be less interested in you CV as per Canada Employers? . I can defend my qualification anytime but you know Nigerian Employer, they might not want to give you an opportunity to call one for an interview. So, I just want to confirm if its the same with Canada Employers generally.

Dear All,

I need your candid advise between a College and University

Which is better,

University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), Bsc Computer Information System.
Northern Alberta Institute of Tehnology (NAIT), Bsc Applied Information System Technology

Your advise is high appreciated.

***Appreciate***

Just finished from Nait and got admitted again into Bsc Applied Information System Technology *Network Management Major . Alberta is best for job and PR and also NAIT is a tough school which is well known by industries in Alberta . Getting into the program will be difficult but if u apply Oct 1 which is the first day of 2016 fall application and have all necessary admission requirement then may be u will get Accepted .

My question for you is which major in Bsc Applied Information System Technology do u want ? i dont know anything about UFV.

Fhemmmy:

Do the employers favor Universities over colleges? Nope, the colleges are great for Technical stuff and you really learn and get busy with learning, however, i am sure there are some employers that would request for a degree in that program..... But my advice will be if you decide to go to a college, try and further upon completion.

Regarding best place to be, at the moment Alberta is losing jobs and that wont be enough for you to decide not to go there, i am sure Alberta will rise again, because Oil will not be down forever, with the rise of oil demand, Alberta will run the nation again, but mind you, you couold school in BC and still be able to go and get a job in Alberta, if you are good and able to market yourself well . . .A good Resume is all that matter, with God on your side and being able to sell yourself.

Which of the 2 is better? There are so many applications being developed today that is making the jobs of computer programmers not that much out there because many people can do their own development these days, just like web development , , , If you are able to get something that adds medical tech to your program, please go for it, because Canadians are ageing and systems will medics will be on the high demand.

If I Fhemmmy have to chose among those two you listed, i will go for the later rather than the computer science . . . But again, that is my own opinion and dont know it all
.

Thanks for this. I know it's your opinion, but allow me to disagree on the highlighted. It's contradictory to say on the one hand that there are so many applications being developed today and then on the other hand to say that computer programmers are not in demand, when in fact such applications are being developed by computer programmers themselves. People don't just wake up one day and become web developers or UX designers, for example. It is not something you learn on the fly. As a matter of fact, really good software engineers and developers are hard to come by and they usually do not last on the market. They are very much in demand.

And regarding your last paragraph, the man can decide to go for either of the programs. They are fundamentally the same thing. It's just semantics.

Thanks so much Don Fhemmy.

I intend specialising in Networking after finish the Bsc Applied Information System Technology. NAIT has a program of Bsc Applied Information System Technology which I intended going for not a diploma. I am already Cisco and Microsoft certified. I currently have a diploma in IT. I just need a Bsc to stand strong.

When you say going for the later, please, what do you mean?

I see you have good experience in server and networking . then i will advice you to go for NAIT because you will be able to survive in the program, The program is called BAIST by most companies in Edmonton , its well now because it the toughest program in Nait when talking about networking and computer . its cheaper and give u what UFV wont give you .

1st its two years program with one year course work and one year work experience, you only get to study for one year and get paid for one year internship with minimum pay of (25/hr). At the same time you will still get your three year graduate work permit when done the program .

In my opinion BC is very expensive for students, especially international student , just came back from BC for the long weekend but i most say BC (Vancouver) is very beautiful .

Do your research for networking job in alberta am sure some of the job will write NAIT as requirement . Got my first summer IT job Because of NAIT connection into many industry in Alberta .

Studied Computer Network Administrator, currently accepted for the Bsc Applied Information System Technology .

With just the Computer network Administrator certificate from NAIT you get a stating salary of 42-55k annually , even with bad job market this year 50 percent of my set already have a job before graduation with no previous experience.

. If "Travel History" is mentioned it does not imply
"you must have traveled" it implies "we have
found not evidence to support your purpose of
visit and willingness to go back home after the
end of your visit "... CAN we see the documents she used?? We can try 2 guess what needs to be added

We all could look at a mirror and see what you wanna see . . . Again, we all have views and mine could be wrong while yours is right, . . . .BUT please note that i said, you could be right and i am the wrong one . . . .
Just worth mentioning that how many people will be needed to develop SharePoint for the development of Webapps compared to when that is not in existence and people and companies are hiring more people to develop same apps . . . . Please note i told the gentleman to apply for either but if I, FHEMMMY HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN, MIGHT BE DIFFERENT

The Chairman himself, God is taking care of His people oh and so sad to know that AB is in financial trouble and woes, who could have thought such 3 years ago, BUT i am sure that the province will bounce back because Oil per barrel wont remain so low forever, world economy will get better and demand for Oil will shoot up again.... Chairman Siga is doing great, just surprise i dont read him much lately on this thread, i hope he was not angered by one of the people here.
