The pathways after your studies
Job-seeker post-study work permit (§16-4) which is valid for 18 months (other conditions apply). The 18 month may look as though it is much; well, it is not.....You should get a graduate level job within this period or re-enroll for another academic program..Note that if you reenroll for another program and change ur visa to study visa(§16)you have to wait till you finish that program before and then go back to (§16-4), it is not possible for you to return back to (§16-4) or any other visa after renrolling.

The next possibility is to get a qualified job even if the pay is as low as €1700 and apply for a employment/economic visa under (§18). The secret of this class of visa is the responsibilities stated on the job contract. The responsibilities must be professional job duties which requires some level of academic qualification (also, dont be intimidated that the job does not correspond with your course of study: it does not have to; though varies from city to city bureaucracies.... The difference between (§16-4) and (§18) is that the number of months or years under (§16-4) does not count when you want to apply for permanent residence under (§18b). If you are under (§18) for 24 month (which of course you will be pazing taxes and social contribution) then you can get your permanent residence under (§18b).
Another catastrophic mistake some other people make is to apply for (§16) instead of (§18)when they have a paid PhD position. Note that a paid PhD position is a job (as you will be given a written job contract as a research assistant by ur institute. This will be a big mistake because you cant reapply or change it to (§18), which means you are astudent till u finish ur PhD and then go back to square 1 (§16-4). But if you are wise to get (§18) then by the time or before you finish ur PhD you can get ur permanent residence......

The next writeup I will discuss the secrets of the blue card and how I crawlled into that class......
Stay put..

Jejet, I have been looking for you. I have allot of a questions in this regard. My first question is;
you have mentioned a paid PhD position, what about courses with fast track PhD opportunity? Are they included in the paid PhD positions like you put it.
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by Nobody: 1:37pm On Aug 11, 2015
If you have finished a degree already in a german university, and a PhD or any other project opportunities presents itself with a written job contract; Yes you are qualified to apply for visa under (§18)

Also, note tha the auslanderbehörde is not oblige to give you advice or counsel on the type of visa to apply for or not to apply for; You have to do your own homework and study the gesetz, get all required documents and tell them what you want to apply for.
And dont be surprised that many times you know a lot of things the berater/beraterin doesn't know. Everyone is a custodian of the law in germany. The more you know it the more advantage you have.

loolzzzz..... Boss abeg u fit try break this thing down lol...

class I = single
class II = single parent (living alone with the child/children)
class III = married and spouse has no income or lower income
class IV = married and similar income to spouse
class V = opposite of class III, ie this is the class your lower earning spouse has if you have III
class VI= for a second job or for deduction without proper employee information
The taxation at source for capital income will be done with a flat tax rate of 25% (add solidarity surcharge of 5.5% of the amount of tax and, if applicable, church tax)

Since you said Class I is 40%,
Class 2? 3? 4? 5? 6? etc come be wetin?

and the solidarity charge is 5.5% of tax i.e 5.5% of 25% flat rate taxed on your capital income right?

Biko that class 3 & 4 odi very very important to me oh..lol..as boys don start to look 4 wife grin already lol... cheesy

Lols I m nt a tax expert...the 40% is total deductions ..for more on the estimated percentage for each tax class u can use the tax calculator ...
http://oeffentlicher-dienst.info/tv-l/west/ for civil service but it can gv u a rough estimate of the various tax class just change the tax class and u will notice the difference.

Thanks @Jejet for the info.

Your write up sound so interesting on paper but in reality it's a different ball game.
Getting a blue card may sound easy but in reality it isn't. The only exception to this rule is if you studied a course in STEM field. Any other course you will require a very good German language skill to nail a dream job. Mind you there is a salary cap you must earn in other to get a permanent residence permit

It has been said here the key to surviving in Germany is the language. Even if you are an IT personnel without the language, you still will experience the polarity of the job market when you want to grow. Trust me i know what i am saying.

URGENT PLS:
My Uncle residing in Germany just called me and said I should try and get a covering letter from NATIONAL POPPULATION COMMISSION to back-up the age declaration affidavit before he went back to his base in Germany.
Has anyone done this before? And if yes, whats the procedure and cost to get it done as quickly as possible?
Thanks.

What you hear from media and politicians is that Germany have declining population and skills shortage... But the reality will look u in the eyes when you start seeking for job.
How realistic are this facts: Yes, germany needs labor, but what kind of jobs are available and for whom? Most of this statistics are being pushed and sponsored by the mittelstand (secret champions of german economic success) to flood the market with labor and drive down wages. Thats not a discussion for this kind of forum....

There are jobs in Germany i can testify to that. I attended two job fairs and i can tell you i got 3 interviews without stress.
I only decided not pursue 2 of them because of distance and the third was a smaller company with a smaller project team. Most company will be more than happy to employ you if you have the required skill. Although IT might be the in thing now but i tell you the truth, without a good command of German you may remain stagnant.

And your conspiracy theory about mittelstand holds no water angry angry

The Blue Card (§19)

The basic requirement u need if you have a german degree is simply a job contract with a certain salary treshhold 47,600 per annum and 37,128 per annum in jobs with skill shortage (mostly STEM). The only advantage the blue card has over (§18) is just that you can apply for permanent residence after 21 month (if u have at leat B1 german competence).

The journey:
In a span of 2 years I was able to have 2 reputable german companies on my CV. Firstly, I did a thesis research in a company for 10 month and an intenship in another company for 9 months (thats approximately 2 years, same as my study period). If you wish to work in the industry, that might interest you. For any job u do in a german company, kindly request for a bescheinigung before leaving... Even if its just 2 or 3 months project (German HR likes papers and titles).
Secondly know on time what kind of job u want to do.... Like I've said it over the years, IT is ur best shot. Without taking advance programming class I advice folks to take Database Administration, Database Development, Sharepoint development and and administration, Quality assurance and software testing etc... These are easier to learn and create a profile along.
Thirdly, before sending out ur CV, I'll advice u test ur CV on line (I'll recomend www.monster.de), if u post ur CV online and no employer contacts you within 1-3 days, then it means ur skills are not marketable or ur CV is not markettable. If u post a good CV on monster in the morning, u must get phone calls or email before evening from recruiters (my experience).
After several interviews (actually I did up to 17 interviews) I got 2 contracts which put me ijn the blue card circle....

Dealing with the foreigners office: My advice is that dont ever visit the foreigners office from the point of ignorance.. Know what you want and present ur papers right. Know the gesetz that backs ur papers and what u want else u might be bullied outof the office..........
Wish u all good success and hope to be online more this couple of days... Stay blessed
