Germany have no restrictions on the amount of money you bring into Germany but the problem is Nigeria immigration, if you have big money with you, you have to declare it at the airport, if you are travelling with 50 000€ and below, you will not have any problem, it is better to travel with cash than using ATM in foreign country because of high charges
Yeah, but you cant get euro here, unless you want to lose all your money in the black market

Cool. Means dem don get fx b dat. How much did you transfer? How much were u charged in total to trasfer the sum? Did they insist on signed admission letter? How long did they take to debit u? How long did it take DB to send confirmation (if it has arrived)? Please list d docs u used. Thanks

Easy bro, too many questions at a time shocked smiley
#179472 was transferred for 800€ being deposit for Jan/Feb accommodation (balance would be returned to me when i get there). like i said earlier 4k was charged for telex, #897.36 was charged for VAT & 44.87naira for COT or so.
The transaction was initiated on Tuesday but got delayed as i got an email from d bank on Wed. requesting i submit budgets from school due to CBN directive. I gave them d link to their website to extract d info only to get a response on Thursday morning that i should scan i send. I did it immediately and in the evening i got my account debited as well as d telex.

It's not DB pls but the school account. I hope this is explicitly done.

Cheers

Buy your euro at Hausa sellers, airport is more expensive due to high demand from the travellers waiting to board their flight

Greetings all. It would seem one needs serious motivation for this German language self-study of a thing, and for me, that has been tending towards zero of late. Morale!? Low! Anyway, for those trying their hands (and brains) on self-study for the German language, I took the liberty of uploading some of the German books I found some weeks back, to my Dropbox account. There are two videos on verbs and stuff there also. I hope someone finds them as useful as I did. Find below, the link:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wrkpl3u5zvr3i34/AADySPt72-tf050N9QKR-g4Da?dl=0

Specially worthy of note (among the uploaded books) is the "German Student Dictionary" book, which I found easy to understand, as it shows you how to pronounce each word, right after you try cramming it. Oh and the "Learn German - The fast and funny way" book, I think it was the included dialogue (with pictures, albeit childish) I liked about this one. Because it's not-so-funny when the only half you understand of what you're reading, is the English half.

Also, if you have free or excess data, or you feel like burning data just because you can, head over to the below YouTube page, and watch till you feel a migraine creeping up on you. Link: https://www.youtube.com/user/DeutschFuerEuch

Spaß haben!

Hello guys, I have been thinking about how to Carry cash into Germany. I want the house to tell me the best option. Change to euro at the bureau de change, use a master cars over there in Germany. How did you do it you who are already there?

In my opinion, you should try approaching your bank and telling them you want to buy PTA (Personal Travel Allowance). Your Naira is converted at the interbank rate, and the foreign currency you require is given to you. Note that you would need to provide proof that you're indeed traveling. Some of the requirements would be; your visa, and your return ticket (I'm not sure if a one-way ticket would work, but it's worth a try). Check with the bank for all the requirements. GT Bank recently said they have resumed selling, and Fidelity also sells PTA. Just check if it can be done at the bank before you give your money to our good Mallams/ our very own Bureau de Large-change. grin

This is what the Embassy is now sending out to those booking appointments now.

Dear Sir!
Thank you for your email.

Your admission letter states that your study starts on 5 of October, 2015.
The next available date for student visa appointment is September 29th. The student visa processing time takes 4-6 weeks.
You will be late for your studies and I would therefore advise you to contact your university and see if it is possible to defer your admission to the upcoming summer semester 2016 so you have sufficient time to credit your blocked account and apply for your visa.

However, if you insist, we will of course give you a student visa appointment nevertheless, but note that it will be waste of your money and time.

I've been to Gtbank nd Firstbank to make enquiries... Their conditions remain that U'll have to present a return ticket nd other documents...
I was also told dat they wouldn't give u cash but will only issue u a MasterCard or VisaCard, so if u already have either, U'll only make application request to lift the restrictions placed on Ur card so dat it could be used outside d country wen u travel and inform dem to place d restrictions wen u return... My take, others can't share their experience...

I thought it's usually the enrollment deadline of the course that matters to the embassy not the resumption date

If there are 100 programmes available for winter in Germany, only 10 will be available for summer. Given that there will be more competition for the few available and you can't spread your options wide, this can be challenging. spread

Hello all.
Advice 4 all those waiting for visa response over 8 weeks.

Please google out the alien office in charge of your intended city and call them .They have a lot of applications from all over the world so workload is much. Calling them may make them bring out your file and treat - (They are very nice, friendly & Helpful)

When you call try 2 communicate in German (if you already know the language ) or say" Guten Tag" then say " Bitte sprechen Sie Englisch ? ". They will then speak English with u

They will ask you your surname n age.

Then they will pull up your file

KUTHVIC YOU ARE VERY RIGHT!

PLEASE MY PEOPLE.. PARDON MY CAPS.. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

I broke the news about my visa approval yesterday..
It was just God.
The fact that the Foreigners Office staff that handled my case quickly and the embassy issued visa asap was just God.

The applications that the foreigners office staff will handle this winter semester will be higher and if delay is looming abeg just call them or someone should just contact them on your behalf as KUTHVIC said.

I think the foreigners office staff or staffs of your target designation are SOLELY responsible for the speed in visa approval. The embassy's own is to get confirmation and issue visa as we are made to understand.

I'm also very happy about my case because it will give hope to people that have a very short time for visa processing . At least mine was processed in 15 days precisely .

I did mine at Union Bank Headquarters, the amount they charged me was NGN228.50 per Euro. A total sum of NGN1848565 was deducted from my account. Just yesterday Deutsche Bank sent me a credit alert confirming a total sum €8,058 credited into my account Instead of €8,040.
kingsleymike:
My form A experience today with Union Bank Festac town, Lagos
Due to delays by GTBank, I decided to switch banks. Got to the Union bank last Tuesday, upon up a savings account and initiated the Form A transaction. Got a debit alert today for the total sum BUT AT A WHOPPING EXCHANGE RATE OF 231.50 NAIRA FOR 1 EURO. I have already placed a call to the officer and he told me politely he doesn't like dealing with official issues after working hours but that he's sure that is the right exchange rate. From experience I am aware that CBN Form A transactions should be treated with the CBN prevailing rate of that day which as at today stood at 219 Naira for 1 Euro.

My question is, for those who have done theirs, how much exchange rate was used for your transaction? I need answers because I am heading right back to the bank 1st thing on Monday for explanations. I need to make a good case that's why I your contribution.
Thank you all in advance.

Inquired from Fidelity. They sell PTA on one way ticket.
You need your Int'l passport carrying ur visa + ur flight ticket + a letter applying for PTA.
