Yes sir, that's what I'm implying. It's easier for companies to cut corners in UAE on safety issues than in Qatar. Any slight safety problem here in Qatar costs the companies alot plus affects their chances of getting contracts. Sometimes, they stop the contract completely and jail all 'jailables'. So in a way, it helps the prospects of safety jobs...and yes I still maintain you are a newbie here lol grin

Lol...you are a true Lagosian. grin . What part of Qatar did you stay and for how long if you don't mind me asking? I agree it may not be easy to adjust at first but once you get a hang of things, trust me, you can create whatever fun you want. Qatar is kind of a 'it is what you seek, you shall find' place. grin

You can do the training course with any training software just to have the foundation knowledge. Youtube videos will help in horning your skills. The course will help you to know what to look for online to study and develop yourself. There are no prerequisite courses to be taken. Just have a good level of dexterity in general computer navigation and the software. A good knowledge of Microsoft Excel will also really help. Honestly, if you have these...let me lipsrsealed grin

Pls can I have your email...

Hmmm...okay sir...just a quick recap. You need to get a visa obviously. The 5 years work visa is the most appropriate for such a move as you have enough time to explore all the opportunities on ground without the pressure of running out of your allowed stay period in the country. You need a contact here for either a work or visit visa in reality. MSc in Environmental what exactly if you don't mind me asking sir? Generally, anything environmental also can be applied to Quality control and QHSE as a whole too. People like you can specialize on monitoring the effects of carrying out work activities that can have negative impact on the environment if not done appropriately. On some projects, there's even a designated person in the HSE department for environmental violations/issues. Bottom line is that you can build yourself on QA/QC or QHSE quite easily. There's even a special NEBOSH course designed for Environmental Safety. You can click on my username and trace back through my posts from the past to get more information. That will help you sieve out the derailing stuffs sir. Hope this helps smiley

Everybody in the house, Greetings!

Please I need the help of experienced people here especially those in Qatar. It's going to be a no -holds- confession and I really need your inputs. will be telling the truths so no harsh words, I'm kinda sensitive smiley

I have a fiance in Qatar (introduction and semi- niqqah done but still fiance cos no dowry yet). He has been in Qatar over a year and yes he is working but I don't seem to understand what is happening. He plans to taking me with him but keeps telling me Nigeria does not have slots for qatar now so it might be difficult. okay( confession) he even suggested getting Ghanaian passport:/ for me that it will be faster to get qatar visa.

Coming to this thread and reading how Nigerians are still getting visa is making it more confusing. I'm getting scared!

Please enlighten me- is it difficult to get work permit with Nigeria Passport in Qatar?

Must his company process my visa?

I'm still young and not yet married to him

Help save a young life!
Thanks as I await the next decision to take

Husband can apply under his own visa - the minimum salary husband should be earning is 10000 Qatari rials plus required supporting documents. Information from google.

Good to catch up with the discussion again. It has been a while since i visited this thread. For some reasons i felt so useless and that i have failed my friends. I used to believe that information and preparation is the most important factor in securing a job here but now i see it goes beyond that. some recent events has made me to see that luck/favour has a very large role to play despite the information you have, qualifications or network of friends.

Just a while ago i tried to provide some of my friends with as much information as possible as regard to oil and gas vacancies and companies here in the UAE; Giving some insider view and pointers but i was disappointed when at the end of it all nothing happened. I discovered that just like Naija many oil and gas companies are looking for experience, some others outsource the recruitment of their entry level staff to recruitment agencies in India, Philippines etc
However, that it didn't work for my friends doesnt mean it won't work for you so i don't want anyone to be discouraged. Simple truth is that there are a lot of us coming into the industry here. In my camp alone we have more than 30 Nigerians, on my rig the Fishing Engineer from Schlumberger is a Nigerian, my chief mechanic is also a Nigerian. we are 5 Nigerians in total. I have also worked on a rig where the Rig Manager, Assistant Rig manager, 1 Driller, 3 Assistant Drillers and 3 Rostabouts are all Nigerians. The Schlumberger seems to have even more Nigerians, as all the fishing Engineers that have worked with me on my current rig are all Nigerians. I also learnt their boss at the office is a Nigerian.

I discovered that most Nigerians here dont speak or understand Arabic judging by all the people i know, only 2 people can speak very basic Arabic unlike other nationals that i have met.

Can anyone of us here speak or understand Arabic?

Dr Dre thanks for your recommendations it is really an eye opener. I'm guessing it would be much easier to get Qatar visit visa from over here in the UAE once you have emirates ID. what do you think?

@Justi4jesu and monchouchou you ladies are really doing a great job here.

Ken1982 my man you just forget your guy for one corner. God dey oo.

ChineloSA aka ChineloSASA it's good to know you enjoyed your visit here, i'm sorry i'm just responding now. How is work and life over there?

Calm down madam. Your username even scares me grin . Honestly, you need to be very patient before ignorance will lead you down a route you are not supposed to take. To start with, the fact that he even suggested maybe you get a Ghanaian passport shows that he truly wants you to come over. Many people change their passport (not just Nigerians) to gain access into the country. No one here said people are getting Qatar visa the way you are making it sound. At least 95% of the posts from people who made a trip out of Nigeria from this thread here went to UAE and not Qatar. The visa is hard to get and your fiancé is absolutely correct on that. It took me 1 and a half years to get Nigerian male visa for my brother at a ridiculous cost too if I may add. Same time I was on that, a woman was trying to get for her daughter from the same company and she even started the processing before mine. She also paid about 5k riyals more than mine also. I'm saying this so that you don't take any harsh decisions thinking your fiancé is playing smart. This place is not easy to access and asides that, the decision of bringing one's wife here is very expensive to execute and sustain so give him time and see things the way they really are. It's good he's working but it goes beyond that to have you come over and live here too. His monthly running cost alone will increase by 150% at least every month so consider that also.

Good to hear from you sir. I understand that feeling of people looking up to you because you are on ground to make things happen for them in some ways but at the end, the result doesn't come close to their/your expectations. If you have a mid/high cadre profession on your I.D, you may not need to get a visa before coming from there. Same way they do for us here. They have all the professions grouped in different categories with certain perks and benefits. Overall, it's quite easier for people from UAE to visit. At least I know that for other nationalities. I think someone mentioned here recently he/she visited Qatar from your end. How's work and life treating you generally over there? The fall in oil prices isn't helping the job market. Do something about it grin

Thanks so much(exhales). I'm sorry I was even skeptical but u know now...I don't want story that touchsmiley

How do I get involved, I'm thinking if there is another means you experienced guys here can recommend. I'm also a graduate, employed kinda but each time we talk it's " he's is trying" but the truth is the kind of job he does and expenses doesn't allow him come to Nigeria,we see twice a year and you know that's not easy oooo.i want to tap from your wealth of knowledge here...please help me.

You said he could apply on his visa? Will it be more expensive?
Should I go the Ghanaian way?
So sorry to bombard you but I want to understand him when next we take decision as well as profer alternatives. GOD BLESS!

Lol @ story that touch. He's more or less your husband already madam. grin . Okay now to possible solutions on this issue. You are even lucky you get to see him twice in a year. Some people here have not seen their wives in years. That's not to say it's a good thing. Just trying to let you see that your position is far better as it's quite obvious your husband fiancé is making conscious efforts to get you a visa. There are quite a few questions that needs to be answered before I can give a clear picture of the process involved in your case. Some are too personal to be shared on a public forum so to an extent, my hands are tied. If you don't mind me asking, do you have an idea of the job description/status of his visa? Since you said he's able to visit Nigeria twice in a year, I'm guessing he's still with the company he bought his initial visa from. I'm also saying that based on the period of time he has spent in the country. This is because he can't transfer from one company to another until he has spent a minimum of one year with the first company that brought him in. Let me stop here for now before I confuse you the more smiley
