Hi Everyone,

I applied for a visitor's visa on behalf of my father on July 28, 2015 I did an online application. He went for his biometrics on July 30 up till now I've not received any information from the embassy regarding his application. Someone told me I shouldn't have done it online. Please I need your advice my father has to be in Canada by mid September. I wonder what could be happening to the application.

Looking forward to your responses

Thank you

^^^ I applied on behalf of my parents on July 14 via paper route and we haven't gotten any response so it's not about the route. CIC website states that it takes up to 50+ days to process visiting visa

@solo8 am in st Catherines already buzz me when ever you are around....

Thanks bros @kennykentipsy. So because of minimal fund is it advisable to go for a 1yr program? Also is it possible getting a college with low tuition fee ranging from 6000 to 8000USD for international students? Any good recommendation will be appreciated.

It is true that completing a 2yr program makes you eligible for a longer (3yr work permit) but you can also stay back following a 1yr program.
Also, it is possible to work and study though you're only allowed 20h/wk during school time and full-time during the holidays. Given that you have limited hours to work per week and the types of jobs usually available to students, it might be a challenge raising the full tuition for the 2nd year. However, if you work really hard, you might get opportunities for funding, or grants which might tide you over. Also, some schools are understanding and let you negotiate payment schemes.

Be calm!

Read somewhere the visitor's visa takes more time, don't know how accurate that is though.

I think so, when you apply early enough...
And if you're unable to get your master's admission.

Am I right in assuming that the reference letter is meant to serve as a home tie i.e. The individual's commitment and involvement in a "community" project?

In that case, the fellowship leader should give a brief introduction of the house fellowship & their activities, the applicant's involvement and contribution to the group. The future projects of the fellowship and possibility of the applicant contributing further upon his/her return. The fact that he/she would be missed and how seeing the individual is committed to always contributing to his/her immediate environment, you anticipate that he/she would be an asset to the university/college environment in Canada.

Thank you very much @montrealer. This is really spot on and has provided an insight to what to draft.

Almost 10 weeks of waiting paper route (still processing + haven't done medical)....All human hope is lost tbh. . The school is resuming 31st of August (next week Monday)... should i defer the adnission already ?
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by samakins1001: 1:45pm On Aug 24, 2015
@Phrancisco, that is not a big deal. i can assure you that if you apply again your visa would be granted. but you need to provide the solution to reason being used to refused you in your last application. we the help of a reputable Canadian immigration lawyer your application problem can be solved

I had my tuition for the final term and living expenses for the 9 months i needed my study permit to be extended to. You should have an international student adviser that will help you calculate how much you need to have. I called the hospital i did my medicals and they sent me a letter of confirmation that I did medicals with them. If you are still in Nigeria, You can go there and ask for it,
sexysammy0906:
No prob, Thanks for the infor. already done the new passport. pls how much had to be in your Canadian account?? and the proof of medicals what was that??

IMO if u have minimal funds go for a year the VO would only sum up ur expenses for a year.. as for cheap colleges look to New Brunswick community College it's about 7000CAD a year
