On an acre of land, your can plant Minimum of 1000 of suckers on it . After 2-3 months you should be expecting new suckers that will spring up from parent sucker you planted. from there you can expand your farm if you have more land to. 6 months after planting it will start flowering and 2-3 months after flowing fruit is ready ready for harvest. In next 5 months after harvest, you come back to the same spot for another harvest, this is because your new suckers has grow up and form another plantain stand. This will continue going on and on, the more you are maintain the farm. for more info feel free to call or chat with me on mobile below. Olami farm 08065987831 msg4lekan@gmail.com 2 Likes 2 Shares
What is Sucker? The beauty of the plantain plant is in its ability to reproduce itself in geometric proportions. A healthy plantain plant can reproduce about 5 suckers around it which means that one plant has produced another 5 plants. Therefore, you will not have to buy fresh suckers for planting for the 2nd year and beyond. There are three benefits to you. First benefit is that you won’t be buying fresh suckers for planting in the 2nd year. Second benefit is that you can sell the suckers while waiting for the harvest of the plantain bunches from the existing plants. Thirdly, you can transplant the suckers on another plot of land which means that your farm is expanding without buying fresh suckers. There are two types of suckers in Nigeria – the local variety and the improved variety sucker. The local variety sucker takes about two years to mature from planting to harvest while the improved variety takes one year or less. The local variety generally has lower yields and more disease- prone. while the improved variety has HIGHER YIELDS in terms of fingers per bunch, size of the fingers and the sweetness of the fruits. The improved variety brings faster returns on investment than the local variety sucker. The improved variety comes in different grades that indicate the level of improvement. Always go for the latest improved variety sucker. If you are a starter, go for the improved variety sucker. However, note that the improved variety sucker is costlier than the local variety sucker. When the planting season commences, at the start of the rains, the improved variety sucker cost. You can contact below mobile No for present price. The demand for the improved variety sucker is high. The demand pressure and the season affect the price. If you are a starter waiting till the planting season to buy the suckers, then you will likely get them at a higher price than in an off-season. Make sure that you get your sucker from recommended sources and buy the right sucker. This is where some have burned their fingers badly, who bought the wrong suckers from wrong sources and got nothing worthwhile at the end. Climatic condition for plantain Plantain Plantains require a hot and humid environment. Ideally, the average air temperature should be about 30c and rainfall at lease 100mm per month. Rainfall should be distributed throughout the year and dry season should be short as possible. Irrigation is not suitable nor economically worthwhile for plantains grown by new farmer. But may be necessary when large field are cultivated in area where long dry season. .....for detail visit our blog, http://plantainsuckers..com.ng/ 1 Like

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR FIELD/FARM LAND FOR PLANTING OF PLANTAIN At this stage you need to clear your field/farmland to enable you to set and arrange your crop for new planting season. This can be done in two ways: 1. Mechanical method 2. Manual method You can make use of mechanical method if you are planting on large scale of land. By instruct your machine operate not to tamper much on top soil. Top soil is essential to plantain. If you notice that your machine operator couldn’t do without clear the top soil, it is strongly adverse not to make use of Mechanical mean. Manual will be the best alternative to mechanical if you can able to get an able body who can handle. You can contact Aboki, Cotonou boys or Ogoja peope they are expert in did. Lolz……… I am not mucking anybody sorry Aboki….. After clearing you may burn the weed if you feel like or you may allow to it decay to serve as manure to the land. Clearing is advisable to be done during the dry season. 1 Like |

All people should focus their attention to marketing and sales, everyone keep selling suckers, world1,lesgup, ajayi and the rest guru in the house but no one ever dare to guide and give real practical support on how these farmer should make the profitable sales for their product, dont just sell suckers, help em find market, this will ensure more people come on board, why investing 300-400k only to be loss out for a year job, meanwhile i support planting maize. Low risk, small start up capital, few months of harvest and ready market available, Thanks you all 2 Likes 1 Share |
