Hi my able N'landers, I want seek an advice from you, may God bless you all. I am currently working with the Federal Ministry Of Works as Civil Engineer I (GL 09) and will be due for promotion to GL 10 by next year. I got an appointment with a Federal University as Senior Civil Engineer, a non academic staff ( CONTISS 09) in the Works and Maintenance Department. Please I need an advice from you, should I continue with my current work or take the new one.

A friend's father was a librarian in my former university... He studied his master's in science did his PHd and got promotions and headed the "library section" as a non-academic staff.. And he has flocks of jeeps and houses and stores and business around the town. Believe me. Working in any federal university in the south can give u upper hands to even become a lecturer..

My senior friend was working in the General study department, formerly known as the GSS. And he did his master's and work his way to become a lecturer in education departement, he jst resumed this semester as we're chatting now. Take my advice. You'll have many opportunities to meet higher opportunities academically..

My brother..Federal Goverment is better...You will be promoted as long as you update your CV and think of gratuity when you retire and this does not mean that you wont have other things you would have been doing prior to getting to about level 14 or more...

Nigeria is getting better so the retirement payments from federal goverment work would be paid promptly also...

Guy no make that mistake oo!!! You are already approaching level 10...ask yourself are you ready for ASUU and nasu wahala? stick with ur civil service job, you may become a director sooner than you think
