This is what is limiting Nigeria, too much believe in religion. and some supernatural beings... it limits the progress of science and intellectual accomplishments, in a country where there are more pastors than scientifically literate people, this is why we will always lag behind the West and Asian countries because we waste time worshiping none existence supernatural beings than studying and pursuing critical and verifiable knowledge. religion is too inconsistent and contain too much unverifiable information, but a science fact is always true when the exact situations are replicated. I want religion out of schools (practice your religion with your god, in your own time) and real science education for Nigerians.
Its Nigeria's diversity that's limiting it...

That is what you were taught. But do you still let others spoon-feed you with vain ideas,or have you grown up to find out Jesus is a lie?

Since time immemorial the black man's problem has been his ability to seperate institutions and this has been the bane of our predicaments as a race, let me even ask 'how has being the 2nd most religious pple on earth changed the price of garri for the common man'?

Interesting. However, if you know you can't conform, don't go to such schools. I as a Christian will not go to a school where the hijab is enforced, and I'm sure the vice versa pertains to the muslims.

If you can't conform, find an alternative because most private schools in Nigeria are built on the foundation of their own unique ideologies.
Even as a Christian, I will not go to a school where attending chapel is compulsory and with attached punishments.

I'm glad that eyes are being opened to the menace that is religion.

Religion and freedom are natural enemies.

well, diversity has a part to play but there are other diverse countries (perhaps not as, diverse as us.) doing very well, the US is a diverse country, India, Brazil, South Africa, even Britain contains good degree of diverse ethnic groups.

It is not just in our campuses but also in pur national lives. Religion as been used to commit so many atrocities, religion is worse than slavery that is why Christ called the Pharisees generation of vipers and hypocrites because religion is compulsion while God give us free will God said in Deuteronomy 30:19 he has set before us life and death but he urge us to choose life now that is free will, if God want us to be religious he would compelled us to serve him what God required of us is to have a personal relationship with him and not this hypocritical dos n don't of religion. I pray that one day we will see reasons to serve God and not being religious

Yah! quoting the bible doesn't disprove my point. nobody is sayings that god doesn't exist but how do you prove it in a scientific way that is replicable? because everything humanity has accomplished today, including the internet you are using can be replicated and proved. This accomplishment are from our scientific understanding of the universe. yet we believe fairytales from thousand of years in the past (people who believed that the earth was flat, that the earth was at the centre of the universe or that twins were the work of satan ).

so approaching the existence of god like we approach any other scientific examination, you find out the are too many things, you have to believe which can not be duplicated. You can choose to believe in the African gods worshiped by ancient black Africans in Nigeria before Christianity but they are exactly the same as the "fairy-tales" brought to us by white people, and are not provable

yah! you are right! but for Britain, I have lived for seven years, so I am quite aware of the reality for Britain. i just want a better Nigeria, with enlightened population, the future is not gonna wait for us, we have to chase it.
I don't really mind the religion but people should realise that scientific knowledge is very useful for us as a country to grow. because i see people with diseases in Nigeria, going to churches or juju (which is not even gonna give then herbs) for treatments, instead of a hospital.

even in america people fall for such nonsense but they are more people falling for it in Nigeria that's why I am ranting a bit.

so sad that here in unilag you can't differentiate a conventional campus like environment and theological campus environment, this prompted the school management to issue a memo resisting all religious activities to their designated place, funny enough the next challenge the school is facing now is how to accommodate over 50 fellowship in the chapel.
In my faculty the students' conference couldn't hold in the faculty auditorium because the dean church (which he headed) was suppose to hold Bible study that same venue at that particular time.
it is very sad that most of us think prayer is the solution to everything.

I don't believe there is any school in Nigeria that makes Hijab compulsory for all female students, not even Islamic University.
Note: there is a difference between females choosing to voluntarily wear Hijab where ever they go, and making it compulsory on them to wear one. While I support the former, the latter is impossible in Nigeria.
BTW please mention the School on North Central.

I was goin to open a similar thread on this issue this is a very serious problem esecially here in ABU Zaria. Even the school anthem is islamized down to every organisation in the school from SRC to even the hostel admins not to mention the overwhelming number of muslim staffs compared to the very few christian staffs .in the hostels its worst as you might only find one or two christians in a room flooded with muslims the level of discrimination is high even though its greatly overlooked doesn't mean it doesn't exist and same goes to many other northern universities
