Should a woman give back an engagement ring if things doesn't work out?

For things to have reached that stage of returning the ring means that the guy must have turned her into the LORD OF THE RINGS.

My woman shouldn't even think af it. No engagement ring from me . Maybe I'll just buy her a T-shirt to keep as memo when the relationship is still young with the inscrption 'No rings, Just your heart and soul'.
