Dear VO,

My fiance in the US filed a k1 visa, we did our marriage introduction/traditional last year when he visited, and we intend to legalize it in the US, please can I present our marriage introduction/traditional pictures at the embassy during the interview?

Will it be accepted?
Unfortunately you are not eligible for a K1 visa. A traditional ceremony is considered a form of marriage by Nigerian law, so for U.S. immigration purposes you are a spouse, not a fiancée. Your husband should file the I-130 for you as his spouse.

V.O my greetings
My wife filed form 1-130 for me around November 2014 and last month they sent her an email notifying her that her case has been sent to California for premium processing, it was formerly at Vermont. please I want to know what this means and the consequences of it since she is a legal permanent resident
The only consequence is that NVC is trying to make sure you don't have to wait any longer than necessary. Sometimes a service center will have an unexpected surge in its caseload, and other service centers will offer to help them process the extra cases. It doesn't have anything to do with your case in particular; they're just managing their workload.

Ma so I went into the DHL office again today this time around asked under both Immigrant and NonImmigrant still nothing in regards to my passport Ustraveldocs as well keeps saying There is no status update available for this passport but before the CEAC changed to ISSUED it was always showing Passport still with the consulate. Furthermore Ma, I got an email from LagosIV today and the reply I got was they can't track the progress because my case number starts with LND ma I was flabaggastered with the reply for crying out loud my case was transferred and the case number was never changed besides I made sure the email contained the case number correctly which is LND20******** 01LGS... Ma its really sad your not in Nigeria anymore but your assistance would be very much appreciated.
Hmmmmm that is an odd response. Did you reply and tell them that even though your case number starts with LND, it was handled in Lagos and they ought to be able to find it?

Dear VO, I can't but say thank You for taking your time to give answers to our questions.

Please I will like to know how Fiscal year have implication on Visa bulletin.
I read that september is the end of a fiscal year, becos right now september visa bulletin prediction is saying 8,April 2014 is for my category. I am scared retrogression becos hopefully, our case should be current by november with my calculation.

Also, will like to know when does embassy start making use of visa bulletin, is it wen it is out or after, becos I am expecting October visa bulletin to be out today or next.

Thanks ma.

Dear VO

Been a silent observer on here for quite a handful of time now, and I've so far found answers to my queries from your responses to nairalanders except one that my fiancee is really confused about, which is the Affidavit of Support. My visa Category is K1,. My question goes thus.

1) What's the specific form she ought to fill? I-185 or I-134?
2) I read in one of your responses many pages back while responding to a similar question about tax return document, does she need to include a tax return filed in the AOS, if so would two tax return filed be okay (2014 and 2012), she can't find the 2013 tax doc, she has requested the missing one, she was told it would take 10 days, but I fear I might be interviewing earlier as it would take extra five days to get it down here, making it a total of 15 days
3) Would just her signature suffice or the AOS need to be notarized.

I'd appreciate a swift response. Thanks

good day, V.O. I went for an interview for a B1/B2 visa today but I was given a yellow letter and the interviewer ticked the box that states that my application requires administrative processing and additional clearance and that no information or documents are required from me at this time. I want to know what could be the reason why he made the decision because I understand that two major reasons may be responsible which are the need for additional documentation or the need for security clearance and since he didn't tell me to provide additional documents, could it be because of security reasons? Also if they will call me for another interview because he said I can contact the consulate after two weeks to know the status of my application.

Good day VO,

My priority date is july 27, 2007 EB3 Philippines, Visa bulletin for october just released (1 jan 2007). We were interviewed last April 22, 2015 unfortunately consulate officer told us that there were no visa number available. Our passport were not returned but was set back to us after a month. My concern is our medical records will be expiring on october 22, 2015. is there a probability consular office will consider our old result? are they going to send us an instruction as to what to do next before or medical result expires? or do we need to secure a medical interview again. if so. is the fee still the same? are we going to have the xray only since we were already had the vaccination prescribed in our last medical?

thanks in advance

I'm afraid I have no way of knowing or speculating -- there are simply too many possible explanations. The best course of action is to continue asking for updates, every week or so.

The fiscal year only affects Diversity Visa applicants. It has no tangible effect whatsoever on other immigrant visa categories. (Okay, there's some behind-the-scenes number-crunching at a worldwide policy level, but nothing that existing applicants will feel.)

Each month has its own Visa Bulletin. The October 2015 Visa Bulletin will take effect on October 1.

For K visas, it's the I-134. It's best to submit three years' worth of tax documents, but if the 2012 and 2014 documents are sufficiently robust, the officer might cut you a break. Does she have her 2011 documents handy?

The AOS does not need to be notarized -- only signed. smiley

You won't need new vaccinations (unless you're due for an update), but you'll need everything else. The validity of the visa is tied to the validity of the medical paperwork; if the meds have expired, you won't be allowed to enter the United States.

Thanks for the response, she was still an undergraduate in 2011, but she has found the missing 2013 tax document after a more comprehensive search, is it okay if she scan and send or she has to send the original tax documents. Gracias.

If you check the Immigrant Visa page of the U.S. Embassy to Nigeria website, you'll find that information and much more. It's also a good idea to bring photos of the two of you together over the years, if you have them.

My V.O I am still worried about my case. Up till now I have not heard from NVC ,even my husband who is the petitioner has written to them but no reply yet. I believe if there is any problem they could have written to us giving us situation report. Again do you conduct interview till December period and will my interview date be send to me through e-mail ?

We do conduct interviews throughout the holiday season. NVC should contact you both by e-mail and by regular mail. I don't have a guess as to what's delaying your case, but have you tried contacting them through this site? https://secureforms.travel.state.gov/ask-nvc.php

Thank you for your prompt response. I received a call from my husband telling me that the NVC have replied his congress man, that what is missing in the documents submitted is my birth certificate. I summited the one I got from National Population Council ( NPC ) which means that one is not acceptable. I was born in the eighties, I went to the hospital where I was born to get it they issued me this one from this council telling me that the don't issue birth certificats again. Kindly advice me on what to do. Remain blessed

Dear VO,

I would like to know exactly what documents I should take with me to the U.S consulate in Dubai. Actually, I'm attending a conference in Portland, been in Dubai 4 years my resident visa have one year validity. Would they refer me back to Nigeria or can they grant the visa here in Dubai?

I'm also open to a broad view in respect to the above. I appreciate your kind assistance and your relentless efforts to help in time of need.

Thanks and God bless & renew your strength.

Goodmorning Visa Officer.

I have few quick questions.. I previously filed K1 but later it was withdrawn by me. My question is, am planning on filing for the same beneficiary do i need to request for a waiver on filing limitations?
I tried contacting USCIS customer service but they were not sure. Could you please assist?

Also in filing out the affidavit of support, instead of attaching my 1040 tax forms, would IRS tax transcripts suffice?

Thank you very much.

Kudos regarding the good work here

For someone that has a pending F4 petition, would it affect the spouse renewing his/her B1/B2 visa since the F4 petition would include the family
Re: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by mannykidd: 2:19pm On Sep 11, 2015
Dear VO,

My question does not pertain to an immigrant visa, but I felt I should ask anyway. I applied for, and was granted an F-1 visa on Tuesday, the 8th of September. I was told at the interview that my visa would be ready by today, the 11th. However, until now, at 2:15 pm, I have not gotten an email stating my visa was ready for pickup. I called the visa center, and they said they had no specific timeline, but I should watch my email. In my desperation, I called the embassy themselves and they stated that they shut down early for the day as it is 9/11. Madam, I am desperate because my classes have begun already, and I am already late. I was given a grace period with which to sort these issues out, but even that time is running thin. If there is anything that can be done, your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.
