First, Detroit is not a state, rather a city in Michigan but let me follow ur line of reasoning here...who regulates Detroit/Michigan or Texas? Does Washington lay hold of Texas's resources to distribute to California, Alabama, Kentucky and so on? Do u realise Detroit and Texas have their own Police, Courts up to the Supreme Court, their own laws, regulate and control their education fully and so on? By implication these states develop at their own pace and compete favourably with others hence the beauty and development u see today. Do we have the same scenario in Nigeria? Igbos and all Biafrans in the SS have always called for resource control and regionalism...has that happened? The Native Americans that were even conquered during war, do u see anyone regarded as minority? Yet it is only in Nigeria that an Ijaw man or Berom woman, native to their ancestral lands which they occupy will be regarded as minority because they were forced into unity with larger Yoruba and Hausa tribes. Even the state creation that balkanised the regions deliberately excised Igbo speaking pepole like the Ikwerres, Aniomas and co into Rivers, Delta, Benue and Kogi then vested them with the derogatory name of 'minority'!

The Texas and Detroit u refer to, do u realise that residence of a Texan in Detroit for a number of years qualifies him to contest for and win any elective office? In Texas and Detroit, u are first of all an American, entitled to all rights and freedoms wherever u reside so the children of a Texan will get free education and healthcare in Detroit! Is that the case in Nigeria? Rather Yorubas will harass Igbos and tell them they are doing them a favour by accommodating them and the Northerners will kill them at will because of Mohammed's cartoon in Denmark or beauty pageant in Kano abi Kaduna! They will destroy alcohol yet share out of taxes paid by breweries! Have u heard of Igbos killing other tribes in the SE except in reprisal for attacks meted out on their pepole in the North? Have they cursed d hausas that ply their trade in the East? Have they destroyed mosques? Yet Churches are not safe up North! Who has been arrested charged and punished?!

See, before u make comparisons make sure ur parameters are compatible and don't spew crap in a bid to promote a lie that even u do not realise is a lie. Study, research and read then come back and make informed comparisons.
