All everyone is talking about are dogs I like dogs but I prefer cats. Please I need advice on how to take care of a cat. I want to get a kitten soon. Please, what do they eat? How often do they eat? How do I potty train them? Is it okay to lock them in a room for like 6 hours or more? Please guys help

Though I don't like cats But cats are cleaner animals compared to dogs they bury their poo ,

I might get those foreign ones in the future

I don't know why people think getting a foreign cat is better than a Nigerian cat. All my cats are all local Nigerian cats but they are all well taken care of and look good. To me cats are the easiest animals to have because they only need feeding and that's it. They take care of other things. I have cat litter that I put in certain places around the house so they can do their business and change it weekly.

Yes I am. Unfortunately I don't really know how you can get a cat as all my cats are strays that I took in. They have all been spayed and neutered so no kittens

Yes I get my cat litter from shoprite. It's about 900 naira and since you have only one kitten it could probably last you a month. What you need to do is get some sand in a bowl that's not so deep. Put the kitten on the litter bowl and he will automatically know what to do. If he doesn't take one of his front paws and mimic the scratch like he's burying it and he will know. Once you do it once that's it. He will know to use the litter all the time

What you are describing is called kneading. They do this especially when they are been cuddled and they also start purring. Even my oldest cat who is almost 8 years old still does this. You can either try to trim the nails which can be a bit tricky. Or you'll just have to wait till he gets older. The older the cat gets the less he does it and he learns not to use his nails to dig so deep. Aside from that there's really nothing you can do because it's a natural instinct

You're welcome Yes life with cats is very interesting. No I'm not a vet. Just a pet lover. I've had cats now for over 25 years so I guess I can say I know a thing or two about them

Yeah it's ok to give him anything he wants as long as he's fine eating it. But just be careful that he doesn't become an irritating beggar. You need to teach him from now to sit quietly or from a distance while you are eating because as he grows older he will start to demand for food while you are eating and even jump on the table to get food from your plate. If it's ok with you then it's fine but if you have guests around that can be very annoying.

well...you have to try harder to make sure you have a disciplined cutie...its better...
and yes,after my male cat ran away, i did some research as to find out why and the research came forth by saying cats are ALWAYS looking for something better, just in case,,lol...its sad but true,,,a number of male cats run away, especially when they have access to outdoor spaces.

alright but im so sad this morning cos yesterday a friend gave me a big female cat so that she will give me more kitten. Unfortunately i woke up late this morning so breakfast was late. I served d food by 10 and i couldnt find her. I wanted to snap them to show you. Now im just with my male cat,tho i havent spent more time with her but im not happy,i just pray she goes back to her former home(but it's far from my aus). Will she recognise the place?is it possible she went there.

Glad you found the cat. Cats are very territorial animals and when they are taken out of their territory they get very scared and often hide somewhere until they feel a bit more comfortable. Since she's still new to the environment I would suggest you keep her indoors until she familiarises herself with your house. As for what you said earlier about male cats running away, it's true to am extent. Most male cats start looking for a mate when they are about 6/7 months. If they find one around then they won't leave but if there isn't any female around they might go out looking for one and probably get lost. I have 2 male cats and 4 female cats. They have all been spayed and neutered (except one)so they don't feel the need to go out looking for a mate.

I hate cats. Sorry if I sound cruel but the fact is I hate them. Well, a cat was always jumping into our compound and. I have been finding how to stop it without hurting it. Sad thing is that it gave birth in our compound and the babies can hide more than Osama.
One morning I perceived a foul smell and lo and behold there at a corner the mother was dead. We don't know the cause of it's death.

1. Should I sell off the babies
2. Or kill them
